I was wondering if The Witcher 2: Assassins of the Kings will answer some of the questions left open in the first Game? Such as the information Tres is hidding from Geralt and what the destiny of the sword the Lady of the Lake gave Geralt truly is? Or if Geralt will be able to form a coallition of the non -humans, druid and friendly monsters to force the Human Rulers and Lodge of Sorceress to recognize them and their right to exist? Will the other Witchers of the Wolf Lodge be reunited with Geralt to assist/oppose him in his adventures? There are serveral more that the first game has left unanswered but those are the main one and it would be nice if at least some of them were answered either in the next Game or in a seperate quest line.

Wyvern are Dragons only smaller ;) and depending on what books your read there not veary smart and are consider a lower class of dragons.

so, what exactly makes *standard* dragons smarter than wyverns? they speak 3 languages and play chess for example? :D

Quen is supposed to be a shield so you'll be protected for a brief moment. It gives you some time to down another potion or buff your sword if you need to. In the books Heliotrop shields from spells, but Quen takes over that purpose in game.

not to side with the other user or anything, but that's still half-useless to me.

Axii, I honestly never used. I think (and I might be wrong) that it's meant to use enemies as minions, so they'll help you kill other monsters for a bit.

but can you "mesmerize" any serious opponent? I still think Aard and Igni are the only ones that count...

would very much like the ability to jump. I'm thinking of the swamp, where there's that tiny little fence, maybe shin high, which you have to walk all the way around, when Geralt really could just walk over the bloody thing. Jumping is your friend.

that's true.. so annoying! the only "purpose" I can see for that is precisely to make you go around for the sake of going around!

On my first few plays through, I only used Aard and Igni, considering the other signs to be flashy, but more-or-less, useless. Now I'm playing around with them, trying to learn different aspects of the game. Quen is extremely useful if you're in a tight situation: sometimes I'll be a hit away from death and need to use some White Radfard (I'm also running the FCR mod, which makes the difficulty... difficult). Yrden is fun, and once you level it up a bit, it's very effective. I'm still trying to find a good reason to use Axii, but it really is useless, in my opinion. I have no need to calm beasts when I can hack away at them. You might have fun challenging yourself to not use Aard or Igni, and solely rely on the other signs; maybe you'll appreciate them a little more that way. :peace:

One of the things I really, really like about TW1 is that Geralt does the fighting. He's got the training; I'm just a player. ;) I make the high-level strategic decisions, and Geralt carries them out. I don't want to have to direct every movement -- parry here, dodge there, now swing -- and I thought the combat system of TW1 was great in that it allowed the player to do a lot without having to do it all. So I hope the combat system in TW2 is similar. As for just plain jumping, yes, please. What do you mean, Geralt can't jump over that ankle-high wall, and I have to go the long way around? I'd like to see jumping available for general movement though the world, though I hope not to have to direct the combat in excruciating detail.

I completely agree with Cory, I loved the fighting style in TW1. I'm not an avid gamer so I thought playing The Witcher would be intimidating but it wasn't at all; it was fun and easy to control and yet still impressive to watch. I really hope they don't change it too much in TW2.As for jumping, I'm in favour of it in the general world or just the ability to step over that tiny little fence! I hope Geralt is more responsive to his surroundings this time around. He's a big brute who wouldn't bat an eyelid when impaling a creature in the head with his sword so I find it very unbelievable that he can't step over things. :pAlso I think it was you Cory who mentioned romance. Lurking on this forum for some time now I've come to realise just how much of a female fanbase The Witcher has (me included!). For some of us (not all) romance is an important aspect in Geralt's life and I would love to see a richer and more meaningful array of relationship options. If I can't be the one smooching him then I at least want to make sure somebody is! :DSome of you want to see Ciri in the game but I think it would just be a pain in the bum. I love her to bits and I love the relationship between her and Geralt but she'd probably turn into an Ashley from Resident Evil 4. *shudders*One last thing: I hope Geralt is our only protagonist. By the end of the first game I felt this really ridiculous bond with him because of all we've been through (oooh it's so sad!) and I would hate for that immersion to be broken up by playing as someone else.

I don't believe the main protagonist changes. It's Geralt as it is in the Sapkowski novels. He just lives independing adventures in the Witcherworld with a few characters we know from the novels as well. Apart from that I can't imagine who else may replace Geralt :hmmm:

I hope that's the case. :) I just read something somewhere that sounded a bit ambiguous suggesting he may not be the only character. It didn't say anything direct so you're probably right and it was probably me just reading into things. ;)

I think an other character makes only sense when you have a lineare story or MP so you can join partyplay. Or when you have an amazing world where differend races live who are more or less equal but have different abilities.

You might have been thinking of this exchange from the GameSpot interview:
GS: What can you tell us about the story in The Witcher 2? Will Geralt still be the main character throughout the entire game or will there be other new characters taking the lead as well?AB: Geralt will certainly be in the game, as we've all seen. I must admit we plan to build the story of The Witcher 2 around Geralt, but it's too early to reveal any more details.

Like you, I saw that and feared that Badowski didn't say, "Geralt, Geralt, of course only Geralt" vehemently enough to rule out another character. :D But realistically, I think things will be okay. It sounded as if the GameSpot interviewer wanted another character, and Badowski said softly that the game would be about Geralt because of fear of disappointing the interviewer. "We plan to build the story of The Witcher 2 around Geralt" sounds pretty clear, though.

That was the one Cory! I remember reading that and freaking out quietly to myself. LOL. But you're right, it'll probably be fine. :) Gosh I miss Geralt already!

His answer is a more spirited circumscription as a plain 'yes' I would say.

This isn't a video meant for public, there is no translation but Russian coverage from the Igromir convention. Check these links... it has some kind of translation ;D

So if you are releasing this for console how are they going to know about the story from the first game and heck does anybody cares about The Witcher story?

They will get a small summary of what has happend before. So does those PC players who haven't played the first Witcher. There is no disadventage for players who haven't played the first game regardless of the plattform ;)

I take this date with a pinch of salt... the official announcement will be in 2010. The leaked videos we saw were both an alpha version. I don't know if they can make the release at the end of 2010.
