Too late! I downloaded to The Witcher 2 dir and it created a folder called downloads and put all the 10GB bin files in there, now is that going to be a problem?

When I get to the 17th and start the update will it not install to correct directory now as I put the pre download files in folder called downloads in the Witcher 2 dir? it appeared to make sense at the time to keep the files in the same place?

Do I delete the folder and its contents a redownload it all again to a completely separate folder? I dont see what the problem is where I downloaded it?

let me know Thanks

You should be fine. I just don't like cluttering a Program Files folder with things the installer didn't put there.

The main thing is, the downloader remembers where you did the download, and it will expect the files to be in the same place when you download the completer and do the patch.

well I put the files in Recycle Bin and as I have unlimited Downloads and large bandwidth (20MB+) I am redownloading and changed the download location to C;/downloadsTW2EE instead....no matter to me, so now the pre downloader recognises a new download location:)

Thank very much Nisse, so it will work just fine, if I copy it directly to my Witcher 2 folder I guess.
You dont copy it to the Witcher 2 folder, but run the patch exe like a normal patch, and it should install. It shouldnt matter where the patch is located.

Do not copy the downloader anywhere. Download it to where you want, run it where it downloads, and leave all the files in the place it downloaded them to.

Do not change the directory of the downloaded files until you update your game.
If you do not understand this, you need to read it again until you do, and not attempt to interpret it in a way that says "you may change..." instead of "do not change..."

The downloader messes with the Registry, to remember where it is located and where it downloaded the patch files. If you move the downloader or any of its files, you will screw it up, the patch will fail to install, and the old-timers will say "we told you so".

I am confused again, first I am told NOT to download the files to the witcher 2 directory which I did, so I deleted those files and am redownloading to a new location of C:/downloadsTW2EE

Now how is this going to affect me as 1person says this, another says something else and I dont want to bugger it up but now I am thinking that it is BUT I am downloading the patch files to a new location instead of the The Witcher 2 directory as people said DONT download to the The Witcher 2 directory....(which I did at first)

So I deleted those files from the witcher 2 directory and am redownloading location c:/downloadsTW2EE as I said above? Is everything going to be ok?

Thanks a very worried person:)

So long as you do a complete download to one place, and do not move them after that. Download the pre-downloader, let it download the files, and leave them all where they downloaded.

If you did the download, started over, and downloaded somewhere else, the last location you downloaded to is now the good location.

This is why you should never, ever download into the directory your game is installed in:

Downloading to a Program Files location on a Windows host with UAC (which means Windows Vista, 7, or 8 CP) will not actually put the files where you think they are. They will go to a virtual location in your account instead, and the Registry will get a screwed-up entry that points to a place where the files are not actually found.

How many files are in the patch? I'm currently downloading 34th .bin- file and have been downloading for almost a day now.

i dont understand all the confusion as to where to download the files to, i just let the pre-loader choose the location (for me (C:)Downloads) and let it do its thing, simples.

^ This. The problems come about when you make it more complicated than that.

The number of files varies, depending on which language packs you are downloading.

I got 34 files for the base patch: TW2EE_Patch-2.bin through TW2EE_Patch-35.bin
The language pack files vary: 4 each for German, English, and Polish; 3 for French. I didn't download the Russian language pack.

ok this might be a dumb question, does the enhanced edition got the previous patches? so i dont need to update the game to 2.1 then the enhanced?

I think you should easly update the game from the version 2.0 to 2.1 using the official launcher or by the witcher website : http://en.thewitcher.com. I dont think this EE contains both patches, it only contains additional 10 GB of data( 35 min of scene material and many other bug improvement) In my opinion as in W 1 EE, also in the witcher 2 EE will add many interesting futures like : new intro and outro, new models scenes etc.

As far as i know it contains 42 files as someone said in the other topic :)

Oh... 13 Gb, it's enormous!
First of all - thanks CD Project Red for most greatest RPG I've ever seen. Bravo!)
But is it in plans to publish a new DVD with all the stuff (patches + Enhanced Ed)? I bought TW2: AoK v1 and then downloaded patch v2.0, patch v2.1 and now I have to get 13 Gb updates from internet (it's bigger than the original game)), so it's very expensive for me. Besides so many defferent files on HDD make reinstall routiner. I would be glad to buy a new DVD, patched and Enhanced if you will publish it, very-very glad!) With Russian voices)
Thanks for listening, Ivan, Russia

Hey guys I just notice that the enhanced edition is availble so I started to download the patch and it says 10gb.
I am downloading the whole game or is the patch just that big? If I waited for the official release will the patch be smaller?
