No it's not useful I think in this case.
Ok, you can open Windows registry clicking on Start and writing in the box "regedit". External programs entries go in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE and there you should search for an entry you wish to remove\edit. In your case, it's the toolbar (Yahoo, Media Bar, Hutch... whatever). Then simply righ click>delete. Reboot.
This normally works for all non-too-malicious virus\malwares, the same you should be able to remove with Spybot, Malware Antibytes or any antivirus. And of course it works for any software you wish to unistall completely.
