The port was designed for a platform not designed for gaming. Sorry to sound like a prick, but that was my point. Their efforts would be better spent elsewhere.
Again, you're being obtuse.
The recommended specs to run TW2 on OSX from http://store.steampowered.com/app/20920/ are,
"Processor: Quad Core Intel
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce GT 650M 1GB (on 1440x900, low), Radeon HD 6970M 1 GB (on 1920x1080, medium), Intel integrated graphics chipsets are not supported
Hard Drive:25 GB HD space..."
While the recommended Windows specs are,
"Processor: Intel or AMD Quad-Core
Memory: 3 GB (Win XP), 4GB (Win Vista/Win 7)
Graphics: GeForce 260 (1 GB) or Radeon HD 4850 (1 GB)
DirectX®:
Hard Drive: 16GB"
What is this, 1440x900 and low settings on a 1GB card? Blasphemy. Now, when I bootcamp TW2 on my rMBP I can play at 1080p and ultra/high setting (ubersampling off, of course) at 40fps+. I'd call a machine that can do that somewhat gaming oriented.
Now, it doesn't seem too unintuitive to assume that, from the evidence at hand here, that Windows is just a more efficient OS. Sadly though, it's not that simple. This becomes apparent when we turn our attention to other titles that operate on both OSX and Windows, like Borderlands 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/49520/), TF2 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/440/?snr=1_7_suggest__13), or Portal 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/620/).
As you can see, the system requirements (and performance) for these games are much much tighter between Windows and OSX than they are for TW2. This is because of the quality of the port. OSX is just as efficient, if not more efficient. It's pretty well known that OSX has better RAM, CPU, and power management than its counterpart.
If you ever write code you'll learn that the efficiency of the system, especially when you're comparing C++ and C# is almost entirely determined by how well it's written.
Oh, and to finish this post off, that Steam link says,
"Please note: Nvidia is constantly perfecting the graphics drivers for Mac Book Pro with the Nvidia 650M Graphics Card. Until they provide an update the performance in the game on Macs with 600 Series nVidias may not measure up to usual levels."
I'm sorry if I'm sounding rash CDPROJEKTRED, I guess it's not all you're fault. Nvidia has dropped the ball here too. That still further my point though, because;
1.) Macs aren't shitty gaming computers just because they're Macs.
2.) Don't buy this game yet, it's not ready to be played.
