nope.. no sneaky thing there...

i haven't bought the game yet.. and i wanted to try it out.. so i got TW2 on the web and..

2 days ago i just putted a random serial number and add access to all Updates! ALL!! till 2.1 version!
their server is accepting any set of numbers as a serial number! (ex: 12345) o_O

i kind felt bad! told my father and even he was like - WTF???

but i liked the game and im gonna buy it as soon as i can as a symbolic gesture cause (unlike many) CDprojektRED deserves it!

2-3 YEARS??? i have time then.. ^^ plenty of time!!

exactly what I am talking about. thanks for the post. TW2 has no protection against thing like that. I know it should be DRM free and all that. But if anyone can do such a thing what is a point? Next time I would recommend releasing a nice DEMO few weeks before game ships and make a way no one can bypass maybe thing like Steam that has to have its own platform to lunch CDP could use GOG luncher ..dunno just a example I just feel angry so many people can get away with it this days. cheers.

OH... so thats why....... ERM....

=X

never saw a company do that! well they gained a fan!! ME!!

still 1.1 million x 50€ is a lot of money.... over 50 Million Euros! jeezuuzzzzzz!!! o_O

now i wonder what kind of new GFX ill need for witcher 3... cause myquad core processor and 8GB ram should be enough

No every where game was offered for 50 Euro. For example in Poland initial price was around 20 Euro. Also probably most of copies was sold during Sales and when price dropped.

Don't forget about retailer's and publisher's piece of cake ;). I bet CDPR earned less than 20 millions of Euros on it.

But don't get me wrong. It's great anyway.

Yes! a Nice demo SHOULD be enough for it! a sweet 2-3 hour demo is enough to get anyone HOOKED!

where are the demos now days?? i think they are extinct!

2-3 years... by then ill have a new mobo/cpu/ram and GFX... =P i hope!!

PC gaming will never die tho! PC is the Alpha and the OMEGA! software is developed on PC's!

here in Portugal i bet it is around 50€! too much!!

they earned Less than 20 Million €? nah... life is expensive on the rest of the world mate!
they earned MORE i'm sure!

i know from a good SOURCE that a good programmer is earning 12.000€ per MONTH on Crytek!!
thats insane!
and the dude was a bad student.. teachers did not like him.. he kept always skipping classes... and now is earning per month what his teachers (and 95% of us) can only gather in a year!

so games are selling!

I'm glad to hear that TW2 sold so well and especially glad to hear that more people are discovering the gem that is TW1.

But, these are the best RPG's that have been released in years. They still should be selling more than they are. If only they attracted the attention that Skyrim and DA2 attracted, they'd sell hugely.

I'm glad for CDPR that their game is selling reasonably well ... but it must suck for them to KNOW that they're sitting on the world's best RPG's, and watch other games out-sell them.

Still, as Ward Dragon said, I've done my part. I've bought a lot of copies of TW1! And I've given people a few new things to do with it, too.

Skyrim is overrated...

haven't tried that game tho... AND dunno if i want to... cause they are having too MUCH free publicity!

and you know what i mean... THE "arrow to the knee" thing.....

besides like i said in another thread:
a game reputation is known by the number of pirated copies!

autodesk is proud of producing the most pirated computer assisted design software EVER-> autoCAD! go figure....

so is easy.. just see hose software is MORE pirated online: skyrim OR The witcher

and according to results.. devs can now say the GAME IS WELL KNOWN! ;)

In Poland average game industry person earn less than 1000 Euro. In CDPR they probably have higher salaries because they are above average but I'm pretty sure that there is no game dev in CDPR that earn 12000 EURO or even anything close to this.

the guy who told me this is a ex graduate mate of this programmer! so has followed the dudes professional life.

HE guaranteed to me that he was earning that much! but he never Mentioned to me that he was developing GAMES!
maybe the dude is developing some serious matter.. i dunno..
and
despite his bad school rates the guy is a VERY GOOD programmer.. an odd fellow.. BUT a awesome Programmer!

i assume Crytek only hires the best...

I am really happy they are selling well
Thats a lot of copies of TW1! TWI is a game with a really good story though, so even if the graphics are getting old it still has something unique to offer. Games based on nothing but fancy graphics quickly gets old, as graphics improve.

I think CD project will sell more and more, if they continue as they do. I wonder what the numbers will add up when the x box version comes out. After all this is Pc only.

Nice, congrats CDPR! Let’s hope TW2 fairs just as well on the Xbox.

Steam games are being cracked for a loong time. Dude, there isn't a single game* EVER created that wasn't cracked. EVER. All of us wish this game would get the recognition it deserves, however adding fancy game protection is more known to cause trouble to legit customers than the pirates (who usually crack the game within the first week anyway). I think the best way to sell more copies, in addition to a master PR campaing, is to provide good bonus value for money, like good content in box editions or excellent download service + tons of digital bonuses - which CDP already does.

*not sure about MMO, but these get haxxored and multihacked

Imagine if the bottom feeders out there paid for the game instead of pirating it?Still good to strong sales like that.

if TW2 would come out on PS3 n 360 alone sales would be doubled if not more. thats why more and more of the developers are starting to make consoles exclusives and forget about PC's because its just not worth it if majority of copies are being pirated.

Typical ignorance.

Portal 2 was one of the most pirated PC games of 2011 and yet it was the best selling version of the three according to Gabe Newell. It's also strange that if PC is such a low profit platform why does it have the most big budget 3rd party exclusives of all gaming platforms? The only strictly 3rd party console exclusive that comes to my mind (not having any financial backup by the console manufacturer) is Metal Gear Solid 4 and since it's from a Japanese devs it's not much of a surprise. Game development is getting pretty expensive. If you want your game to reach as many gamers as possible, you need to go multiplat.

Also, a big part of success on consoles heavy marketing. On PC you can release a game with little to no marketing (like The Witcher games) and still have great sales but it's much, much harder to have the same level of success on consoles without investing heavily on marketing. Even CDPR realizes that and that's why the most expensive asset they've created was the intro trailer for TW2 to promote the Xbox version of the game.
