surprise attacks are perfectly fine and in line with the story, the only thing that was wonky in TW1 was that when entering a room and getting surprise-attacked the camera was wrong and sometimes Geralt took to long to draw the sword loosing precious health. also: AUTO SHEATHING FAILS. so many times I run up to a monster and the game decides to autosheath the sword. Usually I don't begin a game on the highest difficulty level but even if I did I would NEVER ever run around "unbuffed". TW1 on hard I was constantly drunk with potions, had my oils applied and performed all rituals. That way any ambush turned into a victory.

Sorry, but here I tend to disagree. This would really suck. I mean imagine on the lowest level there are like 3 monsters in one area and on the highest difficulty there'd be like 30. How would that make sense? I also think it might be cool if you could actually change your environment by your actions. So if you want you could eradicate all monsters in one area (for big bucks?) or change the nature. I recall a certain mission in Far Cry 2 where you could blow up a kind of dam and the whole valley got flooded after that. @mothra: Didn't your mother teach you to instantly use ACTIVE PAUSE when entering a room with possible monster infestation :B ?

Yeah, right, and then a player will just load the game and prepare...

I already asked the developers for counter-measurements because this way you could also make shitloads of money with dice poker. And the Beast was such a fight, wasn't it?

@mothraIs it only me that found hard difficulty level too easy? I don't remember running drunk on potions all the time and have never been compelled to use elixirs other than blizzard, swallow, cat and tawny owl in a standard, unmodded game for any reason other than curiosity. Also you are right and it deserves to be stressed: !!! AUTO SHEATHING FAILS !!!

Nope. Though swallow was definitely necessarily until you reached a certain level / skill. You just couldn't regenerate fast enough without it.

Word. It would also be great if not required to be able to draw your weapons etc. IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. If you wanna try to slaughter a whole village you should be able to do so!

Yep, and feel the consequences. ;DIt definitely should be possible to draw the sword anytime. This pretty good worked for me in the Gothic series, when the NPCs really got aggressive, if you put that damn piece of steel out and there wasn't any danger. Good, the nameless guy is not a Witcher. Aside of that, I hope the justice system will convince this time around. Not that I want to play thief (which also doesn´t fit the character), but it was ridiculous in TW. Pilfering is just fun, when you really must watch out.

Think of it as arrogance not actual need. Like a feudal lord that doesn't give a shit about his serfs and just takes their fucking apples if he wants to :D

What extensions are you talking about? Something like an Add-On? Or like the stuff they made for Assassin's Creed II? Or like the extra adventures for the Enhanced Edition?

@ Demut.Perhaps he means DLC? If available for free than I'm all for it. Otherwise, if the devs use it as an excuse to milk crowds from good coin for innane things (the original Witcher 1 model of Geralt - only $5,99 today!) or limit the content that should be in the game by default (In the vein - "I would give you a quest but you should download adventure first" or "Buy dlc to see a new ending - today three endings at the price of two") then count me out. I shan't promote ****** with my money even if it meant refraining from purchasing the original game.A separate 10-15 hours long meaningful expansion for a reasonable price would be another thing, though.(Yes, Oblivion and Dragon Age I was talking about you)

That's what I was asking. I personally would only buy AddOns. The last AddOn I bought was "The Shivering Isles" because it expanded the original game by an additional world. The story of this world also kept you busy for 15 hours and more. But in general I'd rather they would spend their time working on a full game.

Nothing against Add Ons or DLC, but it must be really worth to pay for it. IF the TW official modules would have cost me some coin, I´d not have bought them, for the simple fact, they not really offered something new in the "visual sector". I at least expect a new area/map, a good story, some eyecandy, and several hours of gameplay. For TW2 I hope more for a toolset, so fans can do their own Add Ons, while the devs spend their time with the production of part III. ;D

You're absolutly right. When I think about some expansion pack like the NWN2's, I still got crazy......... so much money spent for what? a useless, pointless and boring adventure like SOZ?No way!

@secondchildrenMask of the Betrayer expansion, on the other hand, was superb especially in the story department (the clunky interface was beyond redemption, though). If they release such a pack for correct price maybe I'll feel tempted to buy it.But guys, what the hell we're discussing. They have yet to release the full game.

Totally agree. I think it's even better then the OC.But I still think that the whole pack did not worth the price. I mean, only MOTB was superb, right?

We're just guessing.....as for any game as soon as they're released, it's quite sure that an expansion pack is going to come soon. :p

[/QUOTE]I like playing through the OC though with the new abilities and races though.....as for witcher 2 they need to let you pick up at least one extra weapon so you can make a comparison. Also opening doors with a weapon drawn needs to be added.. nothing like walking into a fight and getting stunned and finished off before you weapon is even drawn...

Demut and Unkreative if you haven't played Fable I definitely recommend it. Though it's a 2005 game and a bit cartoonish it really has things better than Witcher. Slaughtering villages and better stealth/justice system included. Game's music is composed by Danny Elfman. It has a gripping story, secret stuff to find, many riddles. Choices you make presents themselves on your hero's appearance (evil or good characteristics in terms of appearance) . You could be a gallant knight, a perfect thief and archer or a powerful wizard or all. There are really cool magic in game. I've read in the unofficial FAQ that there'll be basically three branches of ability tree one of them being sorcerer. In my previous post I'd make a suggestion about new signs for witcher but I thought it may not fit to the Witcher of Sapkowski. I thought because I couldn't read any. As far as I know only his two books Blood of Elves and Times of Contempt translated to English and none to be found where I live. I'll try getting them through an acquaintance traveling abroad. Anyway since there'll be a sorcerer category for abilities and also it's stated that there won't be passive skills like +50 vitality, +25 endurance and all'll be active skills. We may think of it a sign for newly developed magical abilities. I'd like a sign to throw a fireball and maybe channeling it to make it bigger :) Also Demut, have you tried beating Thaler twice at dice in hard mode. It's really hard. I tried it 6 times, losing everytime than it got boring and I gave up. In hard mode cheating to save money with dice is really not an easy thing.

I don't think it's bad to have more than one sign about fire. Well, as I told you I couldn't cheat Thaler.
