Another thing I noticed is that the guy seems to create a bomb but the text below it says "you already have this item".
Does this - by any chance - mean that we can create more potions and bombs despite already having the type of item in out inventory?
Would give you at least a way to pretend auto-refill wouldn't exist.

I really want to know how that works, come on. Dev Diary Alchemy....
The most obvious reason for that could be that bombs, oils or crossbow bolts are completely different craftables ('all you can craft' as long as you got the required ingredients) while the creation of potions is handled separately by restricting and oversimplifying it to 'craft once, auto-refill forever after'.

it's been confirmed that the level of toxicity influences geralt's appearance as stated in an article posted by @Jonek52:

What happens to Geralt when his toxicity grows ( new screen !)

What if the drinking animation wouldn't stop Geralt from moving? For example while targeting an enemy from a distance, the animation could be played while Geralt's still slowly walking, that way it wouldn't break the flow of the combat that much.

Simply Geralt shouldn't drink potions in combat. It's a bullshit.

As long as he gets heavy Attacks Of Opportunities then it should be fine and more like I'm an idiot for doing that for it just got me killed... hehe

Well, the feature is there anyway, whether you like it or not, so having a short animation for drinking potions is still better than magically consuming them. That's how I feel at least.

In my opinion, Geralt looks much better in 52 and half, when he is much more pale and without these red scars:

Good thing he won't be drinking potions during combat.

Maybe that is because he is not THAT toxic yet?
CDPR said there would be different stages based on your level of toxicity, didn't they? At least I think they strongly indicated that....

But I agree, I hope he gets paler the more toxic he is, because in this picture he is pretty "healthy" still underneath the red lines and other face changes....

So... are there many kinds of drinkable potions? Will the bombs be a facet of alchemy, too? Will they auto-refill, too?

Yes to all of that.

And I think traps too, but I dont know how big their role is.

Cool. Thx. I like that. It's sounding similar to Inquisition. Potions should be more limited by slots than by ingridients, imo.

So I always wanted to ask. So apart from the 3 slots that we can use on the fly during combat..can we use different more powerful potions during meditation like in Witcher 2? Or we are forced into choosing the right potions in the quick slots and that's that ?

So that the potions will refill during meditations will we need to have both ingredients and flasks of alcohool available for them to "auto craft"?

Thanks in advance.

// Thanks.

There's "Mutagenic Potions" (Unless they've changed name or form), which can only be consumed during meditation, and they last until cancelled. These are meant to provide much higher base effects, but also large toxicity which means you've got less to play around with when ingesting other potions mid-combat.

So unless they've made changes to the system in recent months, yes, what you want is essentially still there.

Just alcohol. Besides from the initial craft, and then upgrading that same potion type, you won't need more ingredients, just sufficient alcohol.

After todays video I dont know if Meditating is necessary anymore. It seems like Meditation is just about advancing time. Regular potions are equipped within the inventory screen and mutagens will probably be activated from the Skill tree.

Yea I'm not 100% sure about it all, because there has been a lot of changes just in the last like 4-5 months and apart from discovering that re-stocking our potions would require Acohol, we haven't really heard about any other possible changes to the system.

Hopefully there'll be some kind of Alchemy focused featurette / dev diary that'll explain everything in its officially completed state, soon.

Yeah Idk. The more they change and the more I see the less I like it. Seriously Alchemy is atm by far the only factor of uncertainty I have and the only system I do not look forward to trying out.

Hi, a new preview of one of the most famous website from France :
http://www.jeuxvideo.com/preview/423740/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-nos-impressions-apres-8-heures-de-jeu.htm

They played for 8 hours, and for short : the game seems gargantuan for them. Just a little doubt about the inventory, which seems too "console".

Sorry for my english, French touch

according to this article, more precisely the alchemy section:
"Indeed, potions as well as bombs that have been crafted remain permanently in your inventory, and need only to "recharge" during meditation"

Well...I don't know what to say. I really have some issues to understand what's the point in auto refilling.
The Witcher 1 alchemy system was simply almost perfect.
They could merge TW1 system (Albedo, Rubedo, Nigredo plus activation in combat) and TW2 (drinking potions in meditation).

I think it is there to allow players to use more potions/bombs and not just stockpile them and wait for the perfect opportunity to use them.
As they explained some people were reluctant to use them, because they though they might need it later on, thus always waiting for the right moment and in the end not using them.

I understand where they are coming from, but is this the right way to go about it? Well, less then a month left to find out. :)
