Man, this game is really truly something special... and I'm only at the starting area, can't even imagine what it's going to be like when the shit opens up.

I love TW2 to pieces, but I have to say I also noticed how TW3 somehow, despite looking like a totally different game at the surface, reminds me of TW1. I think it's mostly just the music and the color palette of the environments, but also some of the details you mentioned like needing alcohol for potions. It just seems like they really tried to take the best parts of both games and make the mother of all Witcher games.

Thanks CDPR for the locked key bindings so I can't remap them to play left-handed. My game is unplayable.

What next? Going to remove the keyboard use completely?

Relax, expect that to be one of the first fixes. If it's not technically impossible to implement (I doubt it).

So... After 14 hours I can only say this is the best RPG game in my long life.

Graphics is incredible, art direction stunning. Story and side quests top notch.
Maybe but maybe combat could be a little better (but truth be told, it;s probably my incompetence!)

And the world... I don;t think anyone will be able to recreate the feeling it gives. It';s so lively and designed so well.

You can clearly see that this game is born from passion and love. The best RPG ever made (yup, even the old classics like Baldur's Gate cannot beat The Witcher 3) - I know I;m gonna be crucified for saying that :)

I know people will find things to bash... But you CDPR - you can be proud!

You are awesome

Hey guys,

i'm not the forum guy, but I had to register to thank you CDProjekt for this game and your fabulous work.

This game just blows me away.

Especially the graphics/world design is just awesome, wherever I go I am astonished by the way everything looks, the paths the hills the trees...

The weather effects contribute to that - trees bending when it's windy, even small ponds get the water pushed on the other side when it's windy - wtf.

The sound is something i love too all the noise when you are on the road - fabulous.

I guess the story and everything else is good too (didn't play that much of it already).

Sure there are some flaws too, like taking too much fall dmg when you don't roll - even if you do I think it's much.

But such things can be patched - the core game is really astonishing!

Thank you for your hard work to realize this!

Actually this place was almost the only gaming community I knew that wasn't like that, until pretty recently. I don't really post on any other forums for any of the games I play because every one of them is just a torrent of people complaining about the most inane crap. I don't take that seriously at all, it's just a bit sad that this board has now become... well, like all the others. I guess it's just an inevitable side effect of TW3's massive success. Welcome to mainstream gaming. Sigh.

I'm gonna go play now. Yessir.

Thank You CDP (Side Quest Spoilers)

I just wanted to say that this has got to be the first open world RPG game that actually makes me feel like I am progressing through the store hand the character build up.

In some games lime Skryim, you can get a bunch of skills but a ton of them either never really come to any use, or only come to use later on in the game.

Even in Witcher 2, I found it annoying to use oils and potions.

But, in Witcher 3, I really REALLY feel the urge to do so.

The following sequence of events that happened is a perfect representation of the expert way the Witcher 3 is crafted to create a character driven experience.

>Picks up noon wraith contract.
>Goes to the area, faces the beats
>Gets slaughtered.
>Looks up wraith in bestiary to find weaknesses, sees “specter oil”
>Have one component, but missing a species of herb
>Tries to find the herb around White Orchard, no luck.
>Decides to complete other missions and get experience before trying to fight it again.
>Along Main quest line, come across herbalist.
>Buy herbs to create oil.

>Silver sword needs repairing before the wraith fight, don’t have many orens.
>Go to local dwarven smith. Repair too costly at the moment.
>Helps him with quest to find arsonist.
>Gets access to his service at lower cost as reward
>Able to get repair.

>Goes to wraith fight, prepares oil and a potion
>Wins.

It was such an amazing series of events that made me feel like I was actually in control of my own game and character, not just going through the motions like other RPGs. I was even able to defeat a level 12 wraith at level 1 through sheer patience in combat. What a rewarding feeling. Its like Dark Souls but without as much rage, and twice the feeling of triumph.

My ONLY grievance was that I don’t believe there is a glossary for the different types of herbs, which would have helped if I could see what types of regions they grow in and go searching for them myself instead of being them from a store.

But, all in all, I just wanted to say to whoever is reading, especially any REDs, that this game is a dream come true so far. I have played roughly 3-4 hours and am slowly making my way through the prologue, exploring all the locations.

There are definitely some things I would change. Mostly graphical. Definitely using some sweetfx presets for some sharpening. But that is such a small part of this amazing experience.

BRAVO.

Started this today! What a beautiful beautiful game!

Started playing this tonight, and just spent a good 2-3 hours with my PC version!

What an absolutely gorgeous game! The visuals, the atmosphere, the characters, the dialogues... it's all coming together to make this an incredible experience.

I started the game on Death March, and you can really feel each and every single enemy hit. But it's not so hard that it'd be completely unplayable. There is food to heal you, and you have to take your time with the enemies instead of just button mash. I am liking the combat system so far. It feels like this dance with the opponents, you have to anticipate their moves, evade, then strike. Add on to that signs and bombs, it certainly makes for an interesting system. I haven't delved into alchemy yet, but I am still in that first area.

Also, Gwent seems to be pretty interesting. I can see the amount of depth it might have if there are lots of cards. Building 4 decks will certainly take some time, but since I enjoyed what I played of that one game, I think it will be a rewarding experience. Gotta collect 'em all!

Tech aspects - the game is running well for me on a single overclocked GTX 980. It's all between 45-60 fps (mostly 60) at 1080p with everything Ultra (except high foliage distance and high shadows) and with Hairworks and HBAO+ on (CA was off). I like the Hair effects, even though it does tank that locked 60 fps frame rate to around 45 when a scene zooms in on Geralt's hair. Still, 40+ fps is really smooth for me, and I can't really tell the difference. I haven't had any crashes either.
The only issue that I can mention is the really small font size. I am playing with my PC hooked up to my HDTV, and even though I have moved closer to the TV, I am still having trouble reading stuff. So I really hope CDPR can give us larger font sizes. I would love to read through the glossary then.

Anyway. Looking forward to playing more tomorrow! The next two months are going to be gaming nirvana! Thank you, CDPR! :D

As an avid collector of "collector's editions" I just wanted to give my official "thanks" to CDPR for the amazing CE! The cloth map is simply the most stunning cloth map from any game I've ever purchased (and there's quite a few that have included one). The signatures on the box is a fantastic touch! It makes me happy to own something that you all were so pleased with that you put your names on it! The steelbook is great (and the bonus one from BestBuy and the one I ordered from the .cz retailer as well). I love that you maintained a consistent art-style across them all! The statue is great (though the face probably could've used a little more care when painting imho). Also, the artbook is stunning and the case it was in was also remarkable!

Again, I think the last CE that impressed me to this extent was the Halo Reach one, and you guys have a steelbook so +1 to you!

Also, the "thank you" note regarding the DLCs was a very distinguished act of class (not a class act haha)! I know you thanked us, but let me THANK YOU for doing that!

Thanks again for taking pride in a game that we can all enjoy alongside you and a fantastic CE that will take a center place in this Witcher-fan's collection!

Edit: Oh and how could I forget - Thank you so much for actually including a manual!!! Where other companies don't bother any more, you guys (& gals) put an amazing one in, and then added a soundtrack, some stickers, a map, and a bit of lore in the compendium... yeah, you really are the best!

I got a reply from one of the dev's saying he'd ask about this, but he can't promise anything. I've encountered this a number of times before. Murdered: Soul Suspect had every key binding locked and there wasn't even a settings menu to look at. Had Sleeping Dogs locked with the WASD keys as well, and a few other indie games. They're still not altered to this day.

I wouldn't be annoyed if I knew for sure it was going to be fixed. But I spent £130 on the collector's edition.
It was also mentioned on this thread that there was a possibility of remapping keys. An interview with one of the team said there'd be no problem......I would consider this a problem.

dont normally say this but thank you!

im not one for coming onto the forums but the xbox one releases have been awful. i have halo MCC which was awful from day one, gtav which doesnt allow me to go online and has ridiculous loading times, destiny which was the most overhyped game i have known and DA:I which never caught my full attention. so far, my xbox one, to me, has been a huge waste of money. then i stumbled across this. i have never played a witcher game but after reading up on the lore i was hooked. bought witcher 1 and 2 for pc and went straight out to buy the witcher 3 for my xbox so it can get some use! when i saw a game cheaper than most with a compendium for newcomers, maps, fantastic lore the soundtrack and a nice "welcome and thank you letter" in my new game, i felt like the old school days were back. days where devs werent ripping you off or mass producing crap. thanks witcher devs. im three hours in and i am loving the world i have been unexpectedly sucked into. at 26 years of age, im back into gaming! now with that done, im going back to my new game and my 6 pack of beers!

I only got a little taste yesterday. I cannot wait to get home and play this. I also agree with your sentiment about "returning to the old days". Getting a manual, a full printed map, the sound track CD and a compendium (for those like me who are new to the series) was a wonderful surprise. The thank you note was the icing on the cake. I'm a professional sales person and send similar notes to my clients. It's always a nice touch. As a result, I will purchase Witcher 1 and 2 for the PC and play them once I'm done with TW3.

[PC] It is good fun. Looks super duper and I'm loving all the side quests and various ways i can approach a situation, whether in or out of combat. I'm still puttering around White Orchard, checking out all the question marks.
