The Witcher 3 and Steam

Hi guys and girls.
I know there is a long time till the game comes out, and there is no words about the preorder yet. But is it possible that the game is coming to steam like the old ones?
I know that CDproject Red don't fancy DRM, but lots of people like to have their games in one place, like the steam library.

I for one would surely buy it from steam even more so if it had achievements like the last one, while also buying a collectors edition from retail stores (if one is made).

Cheers
PS. Also hoping my GeForce 580 card will be enough to run that pearl on high setting!

Majority of their PC sales came from Steam, so it'll be back.

OR gOg. Why would anyone want a Steam witcher 3 instead of a GoG one, is a mystery of nature. Maybe the achievements? Or some extra contents, like say 2 shrines, that will come a few months earlier in steam?

PS Just to be on topic, i highly believe since 2 was released on Steam (and sold well, as far as we know), 3 is going to, also! But seriously, man! Steam is !@#$

Please don't bash steam. you don't like steam, that's your opinion and I respect that, but don't call steam sh*t, I like steam and so does many people.

Achievements is just one thing I like about it, but being able to chat with my friends, take screens and easy patching is nice.

I like Steam. It's very convenient to have all my games in one place, and cloud saves are a plus.

Well, surely we can call DRM shit so why not Steam ;D ?

But yeah, Jay has said it all. I don’t think you’ll have to worry about it not being released on Steam as well.

I'd say to keep this conversation as nice as it is, please let's not take it to personal and not insult anyone :)

Many users prefer Steam because it's a long time host for games, it's quite user friendly, and granted a quite easy quick access to your games. Also there is a great integration with the community, which is very active on that website, and friends chat. There are also achievements (for those who cares of them. There is an hard core gamer in every of us) you can build your own gamer identity with screenshots, videos and so on, and most of all, Steam bundles are very frequent and very interesting. I've catched a lot of very nice deal on Steam. And furthermore, Steam library of indie games, multiplayers and free to play is huge.

Unfortunately GOG still lacks of all this goodies, because they're very young and perhaps they lack of enough economy to support all this. I believe they will grow in time, until its popularity and customers trust will grow. We cannot also deny that Steam reputation is long time, while GoG is still unknown to many gamers.

I buy games from both GOG and Steam. Fair is fair :)

obviously TW3 will come to Steam. However I prefer GOG as I actually own my games when I buy them and not lease them like on Steam.

It's most likely going to be released on Steam.

As for myself, I am going to get it on GoG this time. For the sole reason that GoG allowed me to experience the old Legacy of Kain series, and I love it so much for it and want to support it.

Don’t forget that you are simultaneously supporting CDPR this way. When you buy it on Steam you give these DRM-lovers some of your money instead of all of it to those who really deserve it ;>

I have two versions of Witcher 2. One is Collector's edition and one is the Steam Edition. I will purchase W3 the same way. I want Steam Achivements (I hope they include another Insane mode because I loved it), I want to take and upload screenshots, I want to play the game both at my home on PC and at my gf house (if are still together by then) on the laptop (will buy a more powerful laptop by then) using Steam Cloud saves. Steam will do all automatic updates and it's also easier installing and uninstalling games.

I fully expect the game to be on Steam and GOG and probably quite a few others as well .

When I started gaming there were no achievements.
We made our own set of rules to play through the game, it was called role-playing :D/>

After installing a game the first thing I do is turn off achievements (or their pop-ups) bc they are the biggest immersion killer and prevent me from constructing my own meta-game ingame.
Sometimes it looks to me that achievements try to make up for the inability of a game dev to communicate the possiblities of their own game to their players or are added ontop to give you some kind of gratification the game itself cant give you. Best examples "get X kills with weapon Y" or "find all the useless stuff we hid randomly in the level"...omg

That being said, TW1+2 are excellent games that do not need achievements to be special, so their inclusion is OK, since the design of the game does not call for artificial outside motivation or their design is not centered around them as in so many other games (e.g. with unlocks)
