The Witcher 3 Announcement Intimidates EA, BioWare and Dragon Age III

Just found this one n4g: http://thenexusnews.com/the-witcher-3-announcement-intimidates-ea-bioware-and-dragon-age-iii/853568/

Thank you very much CD Projekt Red, for showing them what a real game looks like. Im very proud of you, and you know what? I'll be preordering multiple copies, just like with Witcher 2. These people deserve my money! EVERY CENT OF IT!

I really hope DragonAge 3 isn't rushed, I didn't like DA 1 or 2 but 3 shows promise (just the fact that it's using frostbite excites me). I certainly wish Bioware will get back on track.

While I'm more interested in TW3 than DA3, I'm not going to judge the latter until it'll come out. I wouldn't have problems in buying DA3, if the game turns out to be good. I like story-driven rpg, and there aren't that much out there. And Bioware's game have still one of the feature I like more in a rpg: a party-based combat with full pause.

About the article, I think that Bioware and EA should be concerned about TW3. Considering the fact that DA3 might be released on next-gen consoles, the base installed isn't going to be that much, and if the release date of those two games are near, they might suffer the competition.

Pretty sure the "article" in question is full of shit.

Anyway, I really hope that both games will be as good as they can possibly be.

now that is something. 'Intimidated'? seriously? first make a good game and stop being money hungry bastards, then ppl will automatically buy your game. Half the marketing will be done by passionate fans themselves. Learn from CDP.

Shitty article. But that's what passes as gaming journalism these days.

Well would it surprise you if EA and Bioware are actually afraid of DA3 sales decline if it launches close to the witcher 3?

One way or another The Witcher 2 has left it's mark on the industry, as has Skyrim. It's going to be interesting to see if Bethesda reacts in any way to what CDPR is doing with Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

I am pretty sure Bethesda Game Studios is going to react because they want to achieve more and more with RPG's. However I feel they might dumb it down a little as well. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was dumbed down but yet improved compared to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

As a rule, people don't release games of the same genre in the same time period. It's normal behavior. Doesn't have to do with being intimidated.

Aye, reading that poorly written, mean-spirited, little ‘scoop’ was a complete waste of my time.

EA marketing of DA3 will be so huge they will sell at least twice as much copies as TW3 anyway, they will tell everyone it's the best game ever and people will buy it anyway because they know how to sell a product.

They don't care about metascritic scores. they care about money/profit. TW3 might interfere a bit if they both got similar release date. IGN will give it 9.0 score anyway and game will sell 10 million copies.

Load of balls, Dragon Age fans aren't looking for the things that CDPR offers, they want adolescent feel good romances, lots of retarded gigglesquee cutesy dialogue, illogical plots that would insult the reasoning ability of a foetus, blatant power fantasies and everything dumbed for consumption by the lowest common denominator (such as the upper right, middle right and lower right speech options.) There is a gulf as wide as the Atlantic between the two companies, and therefore no reason to be fearing competition.

Shit journalism, should be ashamed of themselves.

You're wrong. Dragon Age II had a lot more hype behind it and a hell lot more marketing and yet when it came down to it DA2 sold very poorly. In total 2 million copies give or take on 3 platforms. Meanwhile TW2 sold more then 2 million on two platforms, with the Xbox 360 version coming out later.

You mean the current Bioware fans and not the former ones. I used to be a Bioware fan for instance as where others on these forums.

The fans Bioware used to have are not as shallow as you might think, as proven by the massive outcry against DA2 and ME3.

Yeah but you came to your senses Costin and travelled to Kaer Morhen, as did I. What reasoning person would trust and buy from the company who told us that we'd decide how our "Rise to Power" came about? Answer is the morons who liked the story of Dragon Age 2 and still defend that crap.

Dude that is so wrong I am a huge fan of Dragon Age: Origins after Dragon Age 2 came out I lost interest in BioWare and have not cared about BioWare since then. I have not bought any video games developed by BioWare since 2010 well because I have not bought any video games published by Electronic Arts (EA) since 2010 as well because of Origin. I want what CD Projekt RED has to offer in Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. Sadly I know this will not be true.

dragon age origins was my last ea / bioware game in 2009, since then i haven´t bought anything from these two companies, neither ass defect or something else, because of the shitty console versions, dlc´s, origin whatever

its too obvious to set the releasedate far beyond the ones witcher 3 has, because ea and bioware know that da3 will be a POS
