The Witcher 3 Official Guides Announced!

Prima Games will publish the official game guides for The Witcher 3. Prima Games’ official guide line-up for The Witcher 3 includes a hardcover collector’s edition guide, a softcover guide version, a comprehensive, mobile-friendly digital guide, and an iBook.

Prima’s official The Witcher 3 guides will be written by veteran guide writer and gaming expert, David SJ Hodgson. Hodgson is known for his best-selling strategy guides for Watch_Dogs, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3, and dozens more.

“I am both honored and excited to be writing the official Witcher 3 strategy guide,” says author David Hodgson. “I can promise meticulous attention to detail, copious maps and guidance no matter what gameplay decisions are made, and aim to leave no stone unturned (and no Griffin un-bludgeoned), in my quest to provide a worthy tome for fans of the game and series.”

The Prima guides will feature complete coverage for all main and side quests as well as highly-detailed maps with locations of all points of interest. More details will be released in the days and weeks to come, as well as final artwork for the collector’s edition guide.

Cool. I'm looking forward to that hardcover Collector's Edition (extra artwork section, bonus litho, stuff like that)...

As for the "sign up now" part... I've kinda lost faith in that. I signed up on the witcher.com frontpage with my email address to be notified when information on pre-ordering the Witcher 3 was known... still haven't received a single email. So I'll just keep checking back regularly...

So as I get it it is not part of the Collectors Edition, right?
I have to see if I can effort the extra money for this one at release :D

But it sounds cool. I liked the official guide for the Witcher 2.

No, this definitely isn't included. You German people can already get the Dark Horse Witcher comic book for free if you pre-order the CE from Amazon.de, I think adding the guide would be a bit too much :)

I might get this Guide (hardcover) instead of the CE. Of course I would want to have it ALL if I could, but with my little budget I have to make priorities... :p

You could fast for a couple days to straighten up the budget.

More like a week, and then I would be dead... :p
We're talking about US$200 (including shipping) for the CE, then on top of that custom taxes. I would have to win the lotery or smthg.

And what does Collectors Edition Guide mean? It's going to be part of a CE ?

No, the PRIMA game guide will definitely not be part of the Witcher 3 CE. "Collector's Edition"s of a PRIMA guide means that, in addition to all the content that is in the standard edition of the guide, you get some cool bonuses:
- hardcover
- bonus art section (a series of pages with exclusive concept art that is not in the standard edition of the guide)
- another bonus section, such as a section with game lore, or a behind-the-scenes section (background info from and/or interviews with the development team)
- a bonus item included, such as a high-quality map poster or a high-quality art print/litho.

So I definitely am going for the Collector's Edition of this guide.

I've never seen the appeal to buying guides tbh. People will make walkthroughs eventually online if that's what you want.

For me it's part of having it in my collection. I have curios and such dedicated to other things, but I plan on buying a display case for all my Witcher related collectibles.
@slimgrin: In the nature of W3 vs. Skyrim, I'll truly be impressed if it's near or thicker than Skyrim's original hardcover guide. I'm very happy Prima is doing this as their biggest competitor(sucky Bradygames) always has screwups. Using the Skyrim guide on my second playthrough I never saw a single mistake.

The prima guides certainly are the best available out there, at least in my opinion.

But I want to avoid using a guide with TW3.
I have the bad habit of reading what is going to happen next and I'd ruin all the fun and surprises for me doing so.

Sooooo ... I better stay clear of it.

Not sure if I understand your question correctly, so I'm not sure if this answers it, but:
The CE guide is mentioned in the first post. The guides will be sold separately (usually available at most retailers, including Amazon, Gamestop, etc), but are not yet available for (pre)order.
