Ugh auto-drive? At least it'll be optional.
I still can't wrap my head around the concept of a mechanic like auto-drive (It was in FC4 and I was flabbergasted at the concept). You're playing a video game, so fucking play it! We don't need more systems in games where the game plays itself. Is it really that difficult to both control your horse and look at the pretty environments?

"At least it'll be optional" You have answered your question through your own statement. You don't have to use that option. And if someone wants to appreciate vistas, let them do it... I don't get opinions like yours.

Looking the the environment and riding isn't that hard to do (Anyone who's played RDR would know this), or you can simply stop/start, or ride slower, or scout out a spot where you might be able to get a good view of the environment and ride quickly towards that and stop for a bit.
In FC4, the few times I tried it out of interest, generally the AI failed anyway and I was constantly running into enemies which made me take control back regardless. It just seems like a really pointless thing to put in a game.
I know I sound a little bit crazy and over-the-top about this and 100% seriously I'm not angry/upset in the slightest and ultimately as I said, I just won't use it. However I can't help but make the statement and put the question out there, because my brain just has such a hard time understanding the value of something like this.
Nothing wrong with cruise control/autodrive and it's certainly not new. I'd say it's a welcome thing in a world so large, my fingers already hurt just by holding W and Shift for prolonged periods of time, an automove option is most definitely useful. I remember Oblivion had an automove feature but that only kept going in a straight line.
As for games like Car Fry 4, it makes the most sense because then you can shoot, otherwise it's hell to control the gun and the camera and also drive properly. It's not a new mechanic really, just kind of 'missing' for a long time.
Who else has the feeling like I do that the rhetoric is changing faintly, from praising the game as the Second Coming to "just" complimenting it as a damn good product that we should look forward to? Not that I have a problem with it. I'm glad. The hype-o-meter was off the charts, and I appreciate reading about it in more mortal way. Or is it just my imagination?

Thanks for info, I'll avoid this thread on neogaf as much as I can. I would really appreciate if you all use spoilers about how game starts. BTW this guy just broken embargo so hard, I hope he will have to pay a fine.
Well naturally he spoilered it in the thread, but the information is out there now (And it was probably going to be out there in a week regardless), and it's going to be floating around. So for people who don't want to be spoiled, I'd be very wary, because really the 35 minute demo was just part of a larger story that didn't have a whole load of context and dialogue options weren't explored, but this time we're going to hear about LOTS of the Prologue, and that's pretty big.
Yup, probably. We've no info on that, but everyone be aware that we'll start deleting stuff if it gets spoilery in these forums. (The intention is still to provide a safe haven for those who want it, just like after the leaks last year).

It's obvious that CDPR want to give the highest realty to the game. Who has a lttle knowledge of equitation knows that sometimes some horses no need to be guide, and even the rider let the horse chose the better path in unknw terrain.
And yes, in long displacements, holding a key (or button) for several seconds or minutes turns out to be painful
