The Witcher 3 to use Nvidia PhysX

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/new-tech-details-about-the-witcher-3-batman-arkham-origins-ac-iv-sc-blacklist-watch-dogs/?utm_source=rss

The war between Nvidia and AMD for exclusive game deals is starting to get annoying. As a Nvidia user i guess i am lucky this time, but i feel sorry for all the AMD users.
One thing for sure though: That wolfs hair looks awesome. Imagine how Geralts hair will loke like.

You shouldn't we can use PhysX of our CPU if we download PxysX drivers though it won't be the same

Yup, I use AMD and I'm fine with this.

Same with tressfx that runs horrible on nvidia cards no matter what you do.

I'm also wondering how it will look like in practice. In the gameplay which was showed on E3 we can see wolfs and Geralt's hair are very realistic. And I was almost sure it is TressFX after I saw information that this gameplay is from next gen console (and as we know, both PS4 and X One are AMD based hardware). But after this Nvidia demo... I'm waiting for some more information directly from CDPR, what capabilities new Red Engine has, and what we should expect on each device (I mean PS4, X One, PC - Nvidia/AMD).

...and this is why my next video card will be an Nvidia ;)/>.

I've actually always had Nvidia cards until the one I have now (Radeon HD 5850). It's been a good card, so I can't complain though.

It's not very surprising, considering that Nvidia rule on the graphics market, and Havok may be a little outdated or not powerful enough for next gen games. I'm glad I bought a GTX 680

I really hate these Nvidia/AMD exclusive techs. I'm sure for example PhysX would be a lot more common in games if it wasn't an Nvidia exclusive and so more games would look better(/have better physics). That said those fur effects look great and I'm glad switched from 7950 to GTX 680.

Kind of sucks for me seeing as I got a 7950 a few months back.

Wrong. The performance impact for TressFX is almost the same on Radeons and Geforces - what really breaks the Geforces' performance in Tomb Raider is the advanced DoF.

There's a new version of Havok, 8.5.

It would be interesting to hear - is the implementation used exclusively for nVidia or for AMD users as well? PhysX is in most cases practically an nVidia exclusive feature (yes, it can run on CPU's, but generally too badly to actually be viable), but not always (Trine uses PhysX too, for example, and that runs fine on my PC). So I'd really appreciate someone from CDPR/official sources explain what the difference between nVidia and AMD GPU's will be, if there is any.

And yes, proprietary GPU technology is stupid and shouldn't exist, but it seems that nVidia is simply a lot more willing to collaborate with game developers on features such as this.

Who would make these features then eh? Nvidia created these technologies precisely to have an edge over AMD, hell they charge more for their cards in general to actual fund such technologies AND to help developers implement them in their games by them programmers.

Nvidia didn't create PhysX, they bought the developer Ageia and their technology.

Yep, I can hear my HD 6850 cry in pain.

GOOD.

With so many of us upgrading to GeForce just to cope with TW3, NVDIA should give CDProjekt a cut :)

Which was a pretty stupid move. In order for technology to be adopted normally, it should be available everywhere (on comparable hardware). Creating a fragmented market hurts developers not less than it hurts the users who have different GPUs.

Note that before Nvidia stepped into it (by buying it), PhysX was available on AMDs as well.

Either way they spent a lot of money for it.

Nice notion, but imagine for a second that Nvidia would not have developed PhysX then what situation would you have? I'll tell you what: You wouldn't a standardized PhysX engine of the same calibre adopted by as many developers instead you would have a very small number of developers creating their own Physx but only for their games or their game engines.
