In the World of CD Projekt RED. If you are saying i talk no senses, and that "no sense" is from CD Projekt RED not me.....those words of mine in the last post that have these--->> " " <<, are comments from CD Projekt RED and Bethesda software. Not my words. In what world does "you can see it, you can explore it" translate to "the open world game is free as skyrim is, but bigger" ?That makes literaly no sense.
"Hey,are those the Jerral mountains??Cool,I'll climb up and see if I can notice anything from Cyrodill. *Half way through*...why am I moonwalking down the slope...?Ahh...an invisible wall."

No one is contesting that Oliver.I just want a crystal clear example of how those boundries are going to work because more often then not they end up being massive immersion breakers. The army is blocking the road?Cool. The mountains are too steep?Great. That's the sort of thing I would like to see in the game.
Basically, i agree with your final sentence. They never meant to be taken seriously, but some people did. That's the whole thing, mate. He said if you can see it - you can explore it. Obviously we can't go everywhere, but the statement is false, because we can see objects which are not part of open world, but we can not explore them.
See? We can see it, but we can't explore it, so the statement is false. If he'd say "If you can see it, you can explore it unless it's not open world part" then it would fit in any game even if it's CoD or Ryse, because you obviously can see all location places that you can visit and you can't visit things that you see, but they're not part of location....
Damn, what am i talking about? Let's just say that statement is false and it never meant to be taken seriously, it's just the way to say that map is big, not limitless and borderless.
P.S. Getting a bit sleepy here, so sorry for some awful grammar.
Yeah, that's what i mean. Got really sleepy by the time i wrote that post, sorry.I would change the "seriously" for "literally".
Moderator: There is no justification for addressing anyone in that manner on this forum.if you have some problem at reading, maybe you are better at hearing
The game has "several end states" "up to 36 of them" and i quote that because that was in an interview with the developers from "AngryJoe" on YouTube, so kinda like GTA in a way, where you can explore after beating the game...Basically, i agree with your final sentence. They never meant to be taken seriously, but some people did.
I would change the "seriously" for "literally". So it's obvious that this game like any other game has an end....
Yeah136 km2 ?, that's even more![]()
Good job. The previously leaked Skellige Island Map also looks like it is about 9 square km.Hello,
I decided to calculated area base on map revealed in 35 min game-play. I have to say I didn't read all posts on this thread so correct me if I am wrong. Starting with Novigrad itself; I guesstimated it has area of 1 square km ( 1 km = 0.62137 miles ). See attached image " Novigrad area", playable area highlighted in red, Novigrad in yellow, grid equals 1 km2 . This area has approximately 25 square kilometers.
Second area No-mans-land; see attached picture 2, grid proportions stays the same ( its the same print screen after few seconds when map was scrolled down). This area appears to be bigger and it has approximately 35 km2. I assumed second picture shows bottom end of the map, see small square dots in bottom right part? This must be Nilfgard's army camp (!), can't go any further.
So far we have Novigrad area with 25 km2 and No-mans-land area with 35 km2 equals 60 km2, however we know there are Skellige islands somewhere up north-west, to be on safe side let's assume they are around 20 km2. Summarizing we have approximately 80 km2 of playable area, of course I didn't take in consideration dungeons and seas which you will be able to explore as well so we might have few additional sq km on top of that.
Anyway 80 km2 is massive area, it is 50 square miles, Skyrim has map of 14,3 square miles ( 22 km2) so it looks like Witcher 3 is nearly 4 times bigger! This is impressive result and by the way it may explain why game was delay twice.
On the final note I want to say if I made mistake with Novigrad size and it has for example half of my estimate, lets say 0,5 km2, we still get impressive 40 km2 playable area which is double the size of biggest open world rpg out there.
Let me know what you think. Many thanks.

Yep you are right, will stick to km.80km is 50 miles, but 80km^2 is *not* 50mi^2... rather 31mi^2 ish.
While 13.6mi^2 is rather 35km^2.
Not saying that your sizes are correct, but your maths wasn't.
