There is a difference you may have overlooked, between a buggy alpha or early beta of a game, and a finished product that is playable under uncontrolled conditions. The VGX demo was only the former.

Dude that's not the point. Stop taking our words and convoluting them to meet your own personal interpretations of what's going on here. It doesn't matter if it was an ALPHA or a BETA or a GOLD sealed standard alpha-beta delux or whatever else you want to call it. You're splitting hairs trying to hold on to a baseless position.

THE GAME -HAS- CHANGED.

Ok, we will not say it. But then, please, give me a better convincing reason to the cut of foliage, LOD, volumetric fog.
And "performance reason" is not allowed. This problem doesn't exist on PC, because you can easily make some Uber settings with a discalimer which says that those are heavy on performances.

Well if you haven't seen this yet this is the interview that gave me the most info and pretty much settles it

http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/33437-GRYOnline-pl-interview-with-CDPR-studio-lead-Adam-Badowski-translation?highlight=badowski

These are the key points/answers directly from that interview

1. On PC we could raise the resolution as the hardware is stronger but we wouldn’t be able to do something new at the same time, like for example re-writing the whole rendering engine that would be able to display that amount of polygons.

2. Platform unification exists – we have one build that gets distributed on each of them. The game is exactly the same, grass drawing distance is identical everywhere. The differences result from GPU having different parameters on each console for example, which could effect in differences in colour temperature.

3. And how will the PC ultra compare to consoles?

You will be able to find some small differences like Nvidia Hairworks for example but they are very demanding graphically so you must have a strong machine.

4. Are all models and textures the same?

Yes, there’s only one version, without it we wouldn’t be able to deliver the game on time. We would have to strip it down, build and test separately on all 3 platforms which is infeasible. To we do it all on one foundation and then distribute it to all devices.

One build for all which is why the recent trailers don't look the same as the initial one. That is the decision they made and nothing will change that so you better hope modders take an interest if you are not pleased though that heavily depends on how easy the redkit tools are to work with..

No, what they showed was something they had not yet implemented in a fully playable game.

It is normal and even necessary that you attempt many things that you do not keep in the final product.

And we understand this. But no developer has been able to talk to us in those terms. Only speculations, (quite) educated guesses and occam's razors are at our disposal. There's been no dialogue outside of Marcin's laconic answer. We only want to understand what is the reason for those changes given the industry's current climate. I want to keep trusting you guys, but without an actual, technical answer, I'm left hanging.

Remember that we also have the concerns regarding the scalability of the engine regarding things like per-asset, static LOD distances. This goes contrary to any flexible open-world engine design. Again, this is an issue of communication. We can understand if it isn't technically or economically feasible to implement a slider. Games are incredibly hard and complex to make. That's fine. But do tell us that. We have only your word as a moderator, which with all due respect can't pass as CDPR's.

Looking at the screenshot posted the grass does look a bit flat to me, but then it always has to me in any game when DOF and blur is turned on (why I always turn them off myself) Not to mention other such factors that could be causing it in screenshot and poor quality videos to look that way. Hopefully it doesn't look as flat on my monitor...

Well...it's not the grass itself.
Look at those bushes on the left.

Now look those.

I don't need to define it; everybody's using it with their own meaning. I deny that anything like a downgrade exists, but that is my opinion.

Moderator: What I have warned you is that claims that anything like a downgrade, irrespective of any way you or I may wish to define "downgrade", for the reasons given are not allowed and are going to result in moderator action.

THANK YOU!

GuyNwah, did you read that for your proof? The game has been built across all platforms meaning that they were already limited from the get go in terms of what they could develop because of the limited hardware in the PS4 and don't get me started about the xbone. No one cares about "re-writing the whole rendering engine" when we can't even get a decent draw distance because of the console counterparts limiting our output.

Should CD have stuck to the PC only this would have looked exactly like the original trailer. Downgrade.

What a surprise! But, so what? You still can't play the version you think you saw, now, and no amount of aggravated dispute with a moderator will change that. I think this whole business is an enormous waste of time, and energy, which could be spent elsewhere on more productive, and meaningful matters.

My turn: After watching likely allmost all of the videos and interviews of this game; this seems to be the game I've been waitin' for 30 years. In allmost every aspect (well I didn't foresee being a Witcher 30 years ago). And nothing has let me down so far. :) Please continue grownups (not intended as an insult).

The game does not have its luster anymore, please release official HD pack and let us reproduce VGX/SOD graphics.
