In all the sources I read, the entirety of the January footage had no hairworks enabled. tbh before this youtuber party, i think i'd only seen it in Nvidia previews and the 35min demo. Which source stated that it was only a section of the Januray footage that had no hairworks?

NO. Ok. Let me show you something :)

Watch to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#t=7m01s Do you see Geralt's hair? Almost every fringe of hair is moving. Watch the rest after this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#t=7m45s

When Geralt walking and climbing stairs his hair moving fantastic.

Then watch to this(January). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#t=5m07s Griffin hair actually moving. But here (youtuber's build) https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=902&v=dlVX4DpbFNc#t=14m54s the Griffin hair is static.

So this means that in January Footage hairwork was enabled. Except the bathroom footage. You can see the difference yourself between white orchard and bathroom footage hair.

Then in 35 min demo Geralt's hair moved totally different. There was hairwork enabled in Griffin head. May be not in Geralt's hair or may be in Geral's hair too but differently. I do not know. But the January one was the best hair.

And watch what hairwork looks like now in youtuber's video. This is link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJpWBMH9EtQ#t=0m33s

Note: In some youtubers' footage hairwork was enabled and in some was disabled

NOW:
Compare this (January) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#6m36s

To this.(youtuber's build) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJpWBMH9EtQ#t=30m31s

Same places, Do you see how the hair was moved beautiful, shaders was amazing in January build? In youtuber's build hair is so simple.

So it means that in January build hairwork was enabled and was beautiful.

amfibiya just watch nVidia's latest Behind the Scenes of The Witcher 3 video. Look at Roach's mane and behold the awesomeness. And please calm down...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfGFU2XPLr4

January footage did not have HairWorks by the way. Look at Djenge Frett's armor, it doesn't have fur simulation. For Geralt's hair, CDPR has their own technology which is less costly than HairWorks. It sometimes looks pretty good and might trick you that you are actually seeing HairWorks. But to actually be sure if you are looking at HairWorks, you need to look at the fur of the monsters (Remember those white wolves in one of the latest screenshots?). Or Roach's mane for example, as you can see in nVidia's video.

@arkhenon. I watched Nvidia's video. And i know how it looks. I am talking about only Geralt's hair. Not the mosters' hair. In January footage hairwork was enabled. We can see it clearly from Geralt's hair.

I know that. That is a technology which xboxone, Ps4 and PC use when hairwork is disabled. Or am i mistaken?

RED's hair is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_eRUq1PQPE#t=3m42s see how the hair moving. The hair is actually texture on one plane with alpha channel for make the part of the plane invisible where the hair texture doesn't exist. And then they just animated those planes just how it was on trees. But i am not talking about this.

I am talking about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#t=7m01s, This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#t=7m45s, and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#6m36s.

In January footage we can see the hairwork was disabled in this scene and do not tell me that you cant see the difference between this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#t=11m03s and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sil3QCDJACU#t=7m45s Both of them are from January footage.

And Djenge Frett's armors fur simulation just is not there how it was on VGX trailer. And that is actual problem. That is what i am talking about whole today.

And if i could prove that now i can safely say that in January build hairwork was better than latest Nvidia's video on Geralt's head.

I seriously can't see how January hair was better than the hair in AngryJoe's video, but that's just me I guess... You are overthinking mate. No need to lose pants over this, it'll be just as good.

And also it's been stated over and over by devs, that January video did not have HairWorks enabled (Journalists who played the hands-on said the same thing as well). I wouldn't believe a "guess" that is being made by watching some YouTube footage - however educated it is - over devs' statements, I'm sorry :)

Also, how is this talk going on in True Grit or Disneyland?

Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, the HairWorks might not be "completely" turned on in January footage; maybe that's what they meant. Maybe there are levels of the HairWorks, that you can state "Activate it for Geralt", or "Activate it for everything"? You see how much speculation you are doing here to "prove" your point mate? That's why I'm saying you are overthinking this, a lot. Calm down, take a deep breath and wait for the game to come out ;)

Yes it is off topic. But DEV said that January footage was in high not ultra.i think they did not tell anything about hairwork. Believe me The hairwork was enabled in January footage except last part. Why everybody denied that i can't understand. We have an eye at least. i am Sorry too.

I have something really interesting on this subject! I was looking at one of the youtubers gameplay and suddenly: :look:

It's the same location as this scene from the VGX trailer:

Mind you, the shot from the youtube video is in horrible quality so it's hard to judge eventual loss of "awsome graphix". But the tone is drastically different for sure. Very interesting indeed. I think I prefer the current look, it looks more "natural". The VGX trailer is more striking but looks like a gritty movie whit overuse of post-filters.

What do you think?
:hmm:

Well it's hard to spot perhaps, but look at the arrangement of the buildings in the foreground and at the distant building/s to the right of the houses. I might be wrong off course.

Not sure if it's the same place as well. But that view distance though... :) That I'm gonna miss. Although I'm sure that kinda view distance would melt even a 970 on Ultra or High... I hope some modders would create a mod to increase the distance in the future, for lucky people with Titan X SLIs.

Edit: Actually, having a second look, that small village there looks awfully similar. I mean, I like the new "natural" look better as well. But damn that draw distance... :)

I notice the draw distance downgrade sometimes too. I normally can see the ring of hills around where I live, but from time to time the downgrade fairy breaks the LOD and draw distance sliders. Someone said it had something to do with lighting conditions and fog, but I don't buy that for a minute.

Well, I'm sure you know I don't give a crap about all that downgrade business @Lieste, but I seriously don't expect them to deliver on that draw distance. It just seems impossible to me with today's hardware :) Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the current one is bad; but I'm not expecting it to show THAT far away. But, if this is because it is dusk and there is fog, and the distance "can" be like that original picture, then call me mighty impressed.

The problem with the draw distance is that we won't be able to change it - no matter how good our PC is. That is the real problem. And you can see a lot of texture and shadow plopping in the latest videos, especially while horse riding...

maybe the draw distance will be able to modify and increase texture resolution through mods or something

you're kidding right? there are engines from decades ago that can draw distances in the miles. draw distance isn't that big of a deal.

i suspect it became a prominent issue due to many fecal games from the usual suspects having pish draw distances because they want to fill every scene with a million exploding tanks.

The look of the game definitely changed since then but I think SweetFX might help somewhat to bring that feel back for those who want it.

With the risk of other areas in the game looking super weird of course. xP

Mate it goes hand in hand. That kind of a huge draw distance, with this kind of fidelity, is impossible to my eyes with MOST of the hardware today. Of course if there was less fidelity you can easily push the distance... I mean, I can't help but think you are the funny one here, sorry :)
