Extensive article about TW3 by Eurogamer aftere their visit @ CDPR HQ:

great article. and yeah no need to sound nice, i personally like skyrim too, even clocked in 200 hours but in the end it is generic shit :p

Great info and an amazing read (would have loved to hear more about the dynamic weather though). I agree in that Skyrim is not a bad game, but it is very generic in some aspects, especially the story and characters.

One word.

Mods.

The only reason why I played the game.

Thanks.
The initial paragraphs make a compelling case for graphical fidelity, namely that it is an invaluable storytelling tool, no just frivolous varnish, as some would have you believe.

I also pay notice to the fact the interviewer kept the alleged Eurogamer's feminist agenda out of the interview, despite that there certainly was a window of opportunity to do the opposite.

Yes, it does sound like he's back-pedalling and, I agree, there's nothing to apologize for, as what he said is indeed accurate. Characters are, for the most part, generic, as is the story. He also hints at the fact that a lot of players don't give an inflatable duck about said story nor the characters. They're entertained exploring the world. I'm of the opinion the world itself is not particularly exciting either, but that's off topic.

"We tried in The Witcher 2 to make this high difficulty level but it was a mistake,"
So they are going to dumb down witcher 3?

I like the sound of the consequences of your actions not being immediately known - reminds me of that part in the first chapter in TW1 where you decide whether to let the squirrels go or not.
I'm sure this will introduce many painful decisions where you're not sure what to do.

Sounds more like there will be a traditional difficulty curve in that it gets more difficult as time goes on. TW2 was brutal in the first hours, but it was much easier later on.

"It wasn't my intention to say that Skyrim was a poor game," he added, "because it's not. It's a great game; it's got different advantages than The Witcher. That's all."

FINALLY! Someone who understands! At least the devs get it.

"The consequences in our games are not immediate,"

This is very good, very few games do this.

Overall, the article doesn't really say much so I'll reserve my judgement until I actually see the game.

Still not much info on how the game will run on a PC with old fashioned mouse and keyboard. Motion controls, controllers and Smart Glass aren't going to play into my gaming experience. Interesting stuff otherwise.

It's good to hear that CDPR will charge some money for their bigger dlc's... as in their expansion packs.

I wonder if that includes the enhanced edition... I guess the enhanced edition would be free. Since normally the enhanced edition has all the small dlc/fixes and extra's with it.

If it's anything like TW2 then M&KB will be sub-optimal and I'll be pretty livid.

Lol so the only reason your waiting for this game is to be angry.

I for one plan to wait until this information is available before I jump to conclusions

I just expect the worse. No reason not to do that.

That's fair. That's what I do with Bioware and Bethesda these days as well. Otherwise I tend to give companies the benefit of the doubt until they disappoint me.

I don't think Witcher 2 is a bad game, mind you. But it was clearly built for controllers and those of us who prefer to play with mouse and keyboard had to suffer through that interface because of that. I expect the same to happen on Witcher 3.
