The only other cool devs on earth to do this stuff, kinda like this, is Rockstar with GTA5.

yes because rockstar is clearly known for its policy of providing free content :rly?:

I wonder, if it's already known / available, why are all these pieces expansion packs to begin with? Because they didn't fit into the release schedule?

The other 12 are not even made or planned I guess. You know after game getting in the "gold" stage there are a lot of peaople who have nothing to do, so they have free time making first day patch and DLCs

Sorry to be that guy, but why have them as DLC's instead of have them in the game. Already implemented. Explain this to me because I see it as an advertisement or as a mockery to the rival developers.

But that's exactly what it is, no one said otherwise.

  • The content isn't ready, only planned. It will also have to be QA tested so that it doesn't conflict with anything else.
  • The content will be added to the game as and when it's released, most likely via patches (same as Witcher 2).
  • The game is most likely in post-production stage so the people unconcerned with fixing/polishing things have nothing else to do so they can start working on extra content/things that couldn't make the cut on time now.
  • Once they're finished with the game they have to submit it for certification that takes many days, certification can fail and then they have to fix everything that's "wrong" with the game and submit it again, which can fail again all this has to be adjusted in the timeline for release+going gold which is again usually a fortnight or a full month.

    All this needs to be done by the release date, hence why Day 1 patches and any other content cannot be added to the game already, you cannot modify certified code other than as a patch(which too needs to be certified).

Thanks for all these explanations from the clever people around here. Didn't know that it is such a lenghty process to gold. Thanks also to the REDs which are great for giving this stuff for free. Good luck with all your work still to do!

So we get 16 free dlc see add ons. The first two are awesome, and the next 14 are still a total awesome mystery. We are getting like $80 busks worth of extra dlc for free over the next two months after TW3 comes out. The only other cool devs on earth to do this stuff, kinda like this, is Rockstar with GTA5. I can't wait to see what they will charge us for, because you know it's going to kick some major ass some day!

If you're thinking that 16 DLCs (of which most are prolly cosmetic) are worth $80 (almost TWICE the game value) then... well... you're either trolling VERY hard, or you've been playing EA and Ubisoft games and buying all their stuff for your whole life.

No dude, I'm saying that is what these other ASSHOLE companies would be charging us straight out the gate. Never mind, you missed my point man, I fucking hate Ubisoft and EA for being such shit heads when it comes to their dlc. It's total fucking bullshit and it needs to stop UGH! :)

Excellent news but I'm pretty much getting used to this by now. Standard CD Projekt Red awesomeness. :)

Anyway, I'm really hoping that CDPR will give us modding tools like in TW2. Then DLCs would keep coming forever!!! :yes:

It's ok eskimoe, we'll make it through somehow. I sure hope CDPR downgrade W3 so my 970 can run it. :(

Great news and thanks RED, barber dlc is all I need when I start the game (bigger beard or just haircut?)

Even better is 12 are not known yet,
so time is right for requests ;
-Gnomes,
-Original dice,
-love cards,
-real alchemy,
-drinking,
- tournaments (all kind of them- throwing axes, fist fighting, sword fighting)

New Quests;
- Hunt 'em down (going through portal for wild hunt place )
- Mermaid lust (romantic song from Dandelion for luring is a starter )
- Sailor (dangerous boat race)
- Cast away( frozen island survivor )
- Eternal love (save Triss, Ciri or Yen -collect ingredients (again on frozen island) to save one of them)
- Unite or die ( a battle with friends or witchers against beast-imperial manticore)

Really doubt the love cards. They've said several of times that there will be no more love cards in Witcher games. And I love your idea about the imperial manticore. I've been dreaming to face it long ago.
