Half feared it, half expected it. But I can understand the decision. Keep it up, REDs!

In my opinion, devs wanted to be too ambitious... and I believe that releasing this game on consoles just makes it even worse, just look at how this game looked a year ago.

I'm pretty sure we will never see Witcher game look like that and it's the most sad thing. CDPR should just stick to the PC.

Only PC game of that format wouldnt profit... sadly

Seeing the current trend with other studios with a bigger budgets and more manpower to release less ambitious games with a high number of bugs, bad performance and a severe lack of polish I'm not mad about this announcement.

In an age where you have PR idiots claiming "30 FPS is more cinematic in games", games filled with bugs and broken features, day 1 DLCs (the kind you have on the disk already), season passes and more pre-order bonuses and collectors editions than the population of a small country it's actually good to see a dev with some self respect and respect for their audience. It's a nice change to see a dev that's willing to make a tough decision and release a game when they feel it's ready instead of going for a quick buck.

Personally I don't feel the need to accept your apology because I don't feel insulted or treated badly. Good things take time so take your time CDPR.

I'm a bit disappointed but also happy because I have exams from January to March and a "reading vacation" in February so the game won't ruin it now
Take all the time you need! We can wait

I was shocked when I read the news, but it is obviously a good decision to delay the game. I'm so tired of downloading a new game and then waiting for 2 months for patches to make it playable.

Works out fine for me. I'll be on a work term for school by then, so I'll have more free time anyway. And it gives me more time to play GTA V once it comes out on PC.

Dear Gamers,
Ever since we started working on Enhanced Edition of The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, we knew it would be an ambitious modification. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an possibility of again experiencing an incredible, epic adventure in a well-known and liked fantasy universe.

The sheer size and complexity of RotWW, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important modification in our team’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the refreshed game thoroughly.

With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 hours, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf from December 24th, 2014, 12.00am, to December 24th, 2014, 12.00pm.

We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Rise of the White Wolf one of the best modifications for RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.

Thank you for the all support you show us on a weekly basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.

The Board of D'ao Group.

It's pretty odd that the already began marketing in 2013, full two years before release now. No wonder the hype is more and more cooling down and people begin to lose excitement for the game.

If anything seems to fit to Witcher 3 overambition comes to my mind very soon I'm afraid. And we see how that turned out in Gothic 3. I had trust in Piranha Bytes as well based on what they did with Gothic 1 and 2. Didn't prevent that Gothic 3 was immensely lacking, not because PB losing their skill or attitude all out of a sudden but because the project was just too big for them to handle it accordingly to their original vision for it. And the premises of Witcher 3 and Gothic 3 are alarminly similar if you ask me...

I mean look at Assassin's Creed Unity and how much manhours probably went into that project. And now compare its premise and feature list with that of what was planned for Witcher 3. Witcher 3 is bascially like Unity with 100% more features, 200% more content and 300% more complexity. I'm really scared now tbh, scared that they possible never will be able to deliver on their original promises and announcements. More than one feature got already cut in the process and I expect more to follow. These "we are bigger than Skyrim but also a lot more complex and a lot deeper and so much better looking" sounds a lot like hybris to me now. Many people already pointed that obvious overambition out in their first previews once the game was announced almost 2 years ago. It just sounded too good to be true.

Well, damn, I don't know what to think. I'm still looking forward to the game but at the same time I'm really afraid that it will follow the way of so many other (over)ambitious games before, ending on the shelves with a lot of cut or half-baked features and being a game that maybe still be fun to play but also being lacking and short of promises in many areas. I mean how much of the game is really done? Is it feature complete? Do they really need almost 6 months for optimization with the full team? What are the real reasons for the second delay at this time around? So many fear and so many questions and so little answers. That's so dissapointing for a big fan like me... :(

well this would be ok if you would not told us otherwise 6 months ago....

"This is not our first game; we are not newbies," CD Projekt Red cofounder Marcin Iwinski told Eurogamer. "It's not like 'hey we are delaying and we'll keep on delaying'. If we would think we need more time we would say 'hey we'll release it not in February but, I don't know, June'. We made the decision at the moment we were able to judge how much time we needed, and we planned it well and it works well for us. So, no more delays."
