The problem that I have is the overall hype for this game is at a state that I don't even know if the Devs originally expected. People are pretty much expecting this game to be the greatest RPG of all time. The hype train for this game is on overdrive so if it doesn't live up to those expectations then CDPR is royally screwed in the future. So yeah, if it's not at that level then they need to delay and delay again. I just hope that when the day comes that they can deliver.

So they should release a broken game just because they promised there would be no more delays?
Are you serious?

I'm totally with you CDPR! Take all the time you need ;)

And even if this really leads to a sign of technical difficulties, its also a sign that CDPR is willing to change that circumstance and satisfy their and our expectations.
Thank you! :)

It is impossible to fulfill all these promises, huh with that amount of hype the Witcher 3 will be a disappointment for a lot of new players whose first game will be third part of this beautiful saga.

I'm of the opinion that people who get hyped up for games need to stop doing it and that it's a stupid thing to do. They will only be disappointed in the end no matter what the product is. All I want is a good RPG and conclusion to The Witcher saga. People who do not keep their expectations in check have only themselves to blame.

Well, what can I say, this leaves me with two main feelings/thoughts:

1) I'm truly scared for the project now for the first time since its announcement, two delays could be just for polishing, but may also have been for a serious issue found during development, whatever the case is, its rather clear the game did not evolve as expected by them.

2) My trust and respect for CDPR is reinforced once more, now that they still show me that when mistakes/problems arise, they address them in the best way possible, which is trying to fight for the game's quality and our expectations.

So I'm worried about the game, but at least I dont feel screwed or lied to or whatever. And to those saying they promised and bla bla bla, life isnt entirely and perfectly controlled by you, and neither by them, unexpected things happen, mistakes happen, some are your fault, some others arent, deal with it.

If a loved one of yours or a friend would promise you something and then face problems later, you'd likely forgive them, cause thats how life is, I have no intention to accuse CDPR or to bash them or to wait for the minimal "proof" i can get to start hating them, and like that, I have no problem in understanding you cannot just predict the future.

In the last 10 years all the games I followed and were overhyped turned mediocre. I hope TW3 to be the first game to break the curse. I wouldn't be surprised a few months from now they push the date for fall 2015. It's an ambitious project and three extra months are not that much time.

We all do. But given how Gothic 3 happened vs what is happening or not happening at CDPR, I'd say the circumstances are quite different.

It's a 12 week delay. It's not exactly something horrible. Just more time to polish and work on things. What exactly was cut from GTA V? They said there would be no more delays 7 months ago, that's plenty of time to find new bugs and other issues

All you say is just that you trust every word CDPR say in their open letter (although they don't stick to their previous statement).

A serious delay is always reason to be concerned, especially for such a big project like Witcher 3 and especially if REAL information about the reasons for the delay are almost non-existent.

You know, when Larian told gamers this summer that Divinity Original Sin would be delayed people could already play the beta and Larian told them pretty much in detail why they want to delay the final release. So people could understand the reasoning. They didn't have to just blindly believe the dev's statement. They saw in which directions the game was still lacking and they could also sense what could be improved with additional time.

In the case of Witcher 3 we actually know pretty much nothing about how much the game is processed. We don't have any solid information how many features are already implemented or even how many of them will make it to the final game. All we actually saw from the game so far was a short staged demo that didn't show much beyond their vision for visuals and art design and a slight redesign of already known combat mechanics from W2.

So excuse me, I'm not a believer but a natural sceptic. I don't believe anyone just becuase he tells me something. CDPR wouldn't be the first respected and experienced developer who stretched too thin, who got caught in hybris or overambition. That happpend to a lot of respected and beloved devs before and their word wasn't worth a single dime in the end. This "open letter" is nothing else than pure marketing. You'd expect a very similar letter from Ubisoft and acutally it's pretty similar to what they released once they delayed Watch_Dogs. After all, CDPR got sketchy and hideous in the past weeks and months and imo that's merely a good sign for the game. Now with the new delay announced my worries got even bigger, sorry. And in the end, if the delay really was just abut polishing and finding bugs what actually hinders them to release some new gameplay stuff from the latest build? Is there not even one small quest or encounter they could show us right now, proving us that we all worry for nothing? The longer they wait with showing people that this is really just about fixing bugs and optimizing the engine the more people will worry about the game...

Actually, one of my eyes sheds tears, the other one laughs. Can't wait to play this game but even if I'm a bit dissapointed, I can understand the decision. Take your time CDPR, if it means that the game will be even better. :)

I preordered it two days ago. Can't believe I'll have to wait another 3 months. Its a long time to wait. I'm just a little sad but I know when the game comes out, I'll forget about all this waiting.
I hope CDP does their own thing and not let peoples shit talk like downgraded graphics go to their head and delay for that. Instead focus on other ways to make the overall experience better.

Are you familiar with the development of Gothic 3 and PB? Because CDPR is not PB or Jowood/Deep Silver.

I mean, rushing it out the door certainly isn't a good thing, but the fact that we're seeing multiple delays certainly isn't a good sign either as it suggests shoddy organization.
If it was a good thing, Duke Nukem Forever would've been the best game in existence.

This. There's a real development problem going on right now. Do you really think this will launch in May?
