The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets a FREE next-gen update on December 14th!

+
I hope that this update won't brake mods such as Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition or FriendlyHUD (for that one I sincerely hope it's included)...
Another amazing feature would be to allow players to choose scabbards for each sword...

Nonetheless I can't wait for this

The long-awaited free next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming out on December 14th, 2022!

Enhanced with the power of next-gen consoles and modern PC hardware in mind, the upcoming update will feature dozens of visual, performance and technical enhancements, including ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, a variety of mods integrated into the experience, and much more! On top of that, we’re adding a set of DLCs inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher series, such as new weapons and armor for Geralt and alternative looks for select characters.

The next-gen update is free for everyone who already owns any version of the game. For those who don’t have the game yet, a dedicated next-gen version, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition, featuring all enhancements, free DLCs and story expansions: Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine, will be available for purchase digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a physical release at a later date.

In addition to the next-gen release, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also receive an update featuring numerous additions and improvements, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed DLCs. Further details, including the release date, will be announced soon.

If you want to learn more, make sure to tune in to REDstreams on our Twitch channel next week for an exclusive look at the next-gen gameplay reveal and details on the upcoming changes.

See you there!
Does anyone know if there'll be transmog in the upgrade?

Fast Travel from Anywhere is another mod they should include as it was one of the most popular mods and is part of every mod list for Witcher 3 I've seen. Top 10 mods

1. Witcher 3 Reworked project - we know most of that is already included and probably even more
2. All Quest Objectives On Map
3. Over 9000 - Weight limit mod
4. Fast Travel from Anywhere
5. Always Full EXP - so you don't get penalized for leveling up too fast or going back to grab gear upgrades
6. Super Turbo lighting Mod - Likely something much better already included and I believe it was superseded by a better light mod
7. Auto Apply Oils
8. Slots Slots SLOTS - Adds more slots but never tried it because it seemed like overkill
9. Friendly HUD
10. Debug Console Enabler v1.31 - I think this was also superseded by another mod, one of the bug patch collections I believe

They need to include the Brothers in Arms fixes. And raise the fall damage limit or remove it entirely. Can't forget about no rolling on stairs and having the Wolf Armor locations not start at Kaer Morhen.

Personally, i can hardly be called a fun of the Netflix series, so i don't really know... On top of that, It's supposed to bring new graphical features which prolly means requirements will increase. And what of all the mods that lots of folk have installed over the years, including me? As far as i'm concerned this update is mandatory, and i feel really sceptical about this one..:coolstory:

Interesting. I assumed that the re-make meant that the next-gen update of the existing game was off the table. Looking forward to seeing it.

If mods are going to be integrated the one I have always been most interested in was the "automatic oil application" one.
That's exactly the mod which come in my mind when I posted :giggle:
(Or I don't know if it's this one, but I know there is one which add oil buttons in the "signs window" to select the oil that you want without openning the inventory)

I doubt, most popular mod indeed, but the cause of the majority of the issues and unsolvable game-breaking bugs... (because some events/quests are triggered by passing/walking at some specific spots)

I think, like most updates on most games, this one will break plenty of mods (if not all^^).
Just my opinion, but it's not up to CDPR to take care about mods compatibility (as we say, you use mods at your own risk)

That oil mod has to be an official gameplay system in TW4. Potions were made usable mid-combat in TW3 but the blade oil system remained just like in TW2, and having to constantly open up menus kinda dissuades you from doing an Alchemist build (which is the most interesting and witcher-like).

Hello, I have a question for the team (or anyone who knows).. I have the PS4 version of the Game of the Year Witcher 3. I have been waiting to play on a next-gen console when I found out the remake was being made. But I ended up getting a Xbox Series X. Can I upgrade for free to the Series X edition or do I need to have an Xbox one copy to do that?

Greetings, I have a question regarding a free next gen update. I am owning the Witcher 3 GOTY edition on Epic Games Store. Does it mean, that I will get an update as well?

I bought the game on the PS4, finished it, played it again, obtained all trophies, bought the season pass, played them both, also got all trophies, still think Gaunter O'Dimm is one of the best antagonists ever and so on and so forth... There should be no reason for me to be excited. Right? Wrong! Like many of you, I can't wait for December 14th! Now, I do have some questions I hope you can help me with:

1) For the current generation, I've moved to Xbox. I understand I would have to buy the game again on that platform if I want to get the free update. Is that correct?

2) If I buy the base game on my new platform, will I be getting all the expansions of the next-gen update? Based on what I've read, it certainly seems so, but I just wanted to double-check.

Thank you!

x box gamer here - can anyone tell me is there a difference between the game of the year edition and the complete edition?

I want to get the next gen update but don’t know if my copy is eligible?

really confusing branding

Yeah but I feel they already toned down the witcher preparation a bit too much. I would prefer them to actually make the fact of preparing for fight more fun. I would love something like drinking potions and putting oil only when meditating but with permanent effect for oil and activate during battle the effects of potions but only the one you drank. Could be could in a future Witcher game.

I don't think you will get a free copy of the game on Xbox (copy which is required to install an update) because you have one on Playstation :(
So you will have to buy another copy of TW3 for Xbox. But lukily, GOTY is often sold for less than 10€ (so with everything included).

Nope, I don't think so. As noticed "DLCs will be included" which are free and not the same as "expansions" which are paid content.
If you want everything, you should buy to the GOTY edition (which is "cheap" if you ask me^^)

thank you for the reply - it's on sale for Xbox right now which is why I asked. not a big deal :)

I was just taking the top 10 most popular mods on Nexus Mods but skipped a couple like Script Merger .... Immersive Cam seems to be the most popular camera mod but fairly recently someone came out with a first person camera mod but I've never tried it preferring 3rd person in a game like this. First person always make me feel like I have horse blinders on and the lack of peripheral vision annoys me whereas with 3rd person you can see the things and enemies in your periphery. Plus things like roll dodges just don't work well in 1st person. Neither does parkour which is why Assassin's Creed games are in 3rd person.

Never once had a problem with Fast Travel from Anywhere because you can only Fast Travel to places you have already been to so how can I miss something if I have already been there? I suppose it could be a problem if you abuse it such as fast traveling from inside a building or an enemy position in the middle of a quest. I use it primarily to go to a vendor and back to sell my gear because of the weight limit and some vendors don't give you shit for prices or to go back later and get gear diagrams. The only time I've ever had a quest break was with Cerys and the solution was to use fast travel from anywhere to go to the mainland and back to Spikeroog

BTW something many people probably don't know but the voice actress for Cerys was also the voice actress for Anne Bonny in AC Black Flag

Maybe (probably) you know when and where something have to be triggered (like me in Cyberpunk), but if you search on the forum, there are somes. I never tried, but it seem to me like openning doors for possible bugs. I guess, nothing that CDPR can't "fix", but I don't have much hopes for this mod.
