The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets a FREE next-gen update on December 14th!

Pretty excited for this. I heard CDPR might release a comparison video in a few days, that'd give us a better idea of what to expect. I think most existing mods will break unfortunately

I have only one question, will the trees still behave the same way they did in stormy weather? Used to make me hose myself every time!
Great news and I can't wait to see what the integrated mods are.

Actually I didn't know before but I did look it up and it seems to be primarily two quests with the most common one being Fast traveling out of Junior's room after you kill the sorry bastard. I don't remember for sure exactly why I never did that but most likely it was because there was things to loot and I'm OCD when it comes to looting anything and everything ..... One thing that annoys me in many games (don't remember it happening in Witcher 3) is when I can clearly see some loot and when I go to grab it they suck me into a cut scene and I have to go back later.

What I've been trying to find out with no success so far is if I outright buy the Complete Edition if I can keep the Game of the Year Edition pristine and have both at the same time. I don't have any problem paying full price for the Complete Edition but only if I can keep the GOTY Edition the way it is

The long-awaited free next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming out on December 14th, 2022!

Enhanced with the power of next-gen consoles and modern PC hardware in mind, the upcoming update will feature dozens of visual, performance and technical enhancements, including ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, a variety of mods integrated into the experience, and much more! On top of that, we’re adding a set of DLCs inspired by Netflix’s The Witcher series, such as new weapons and armor for Geralt and alternative looks for select characters.

The next-gen update is free for everyone who already owns any version of the game. For those who don’t have the game yet, a dedicated next-gen version, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition, featuring all enhancements, free DLCs and story expansions: Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine, will be available for purchase digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a physical release at a later date.

In addition to the next-gen release, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will also receive an update featuring numerous additions and improvements, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed DLCs. Further details, including the release date, will be announced soon.

If you want to learn more, make sure to tune in to REDstreams on our Twitch channel next week for an exclusive look at the next-gen gameplay reveal and details on the upcoming changes.

See you there!
Hello, I see several people have already asked the same, but there isn't any clear answer yet.
Will the GOTY which most of us previously purchased be included for this upgrade or do we have to purchase a new Full edition of the game?

Whatever the version of your game (game bought day one or GOTY), you will get the next-gen update (it's "just" an update which will be applied to every game verion)

x box gamer here - can anyone tell me is there a difference between the game of the year edition and the complete edition?

I want to get the next gen update but don’t know if my copy is eligible?

really confusing branding

There's no difference, really. Both are complete versions of the game and were released under different names due to some platform/regional nuances back in the day.

Hello, I have a question for the team (or anyone who knows).. I have the PS4 version of the Game of the Year Witcher 3. I have been waiting to play on a next-gen console when I found out the remake was being made. But I ended up getting a Xbox Series X. Can I upgrade for free to the Series X edition or do I need to have an Xbox one copy to do that?

Sadly, there's no cross-platform upgrade so you will have to purchase the game on your platform of choice again. Fortunately, we almost consntantly have the game on sale.:D

Greetings, I have a question regarding a free next gen update. I am owning the Witcher 3 GOTY edition on Epic Games Store. Does it mean, that I will get an update as well?
Yes, absolutely!

I bought the game on the PS4, finished it, played it again, obtained all trophies, bought the season pass, played them both, also got all trophies, still think Gaunter O'Dimm is one of the best antagonists ever and so on and so forth... There should be no reason for me to be excited. Right? Wrong! Like many of you, I can't wait for December 14th! Now, I do have some questions I hope you can help me with:

1) For the current generation, I've moved to Xbox. I understand I would have to buy the game again on that platform if I want to get the free update. Is that correct?

2) If I buy the base game on my new platform, will I be getting all the expansions of the next-gen update? Based on what I've read, it certainly seems so, but I just wanted to double-check.

Thank you!

1) Yes, you will have to buy the game again but, as I said above, it's on sale every month. And they are big sales usually. :D
2) Base game without expansions will get the next-gen upgrade however expansions need to be purchases separately. I'd recommend getting Game of The Year / Complete Edition to get the full package. Hope this helps!

Will the GOTY which most of us previously purchased be included for this upgrade or do we have to purchase a new Full edition of the game?

The upgrade applies to every version of the game. Whether you have GOTY or just the base game with not expansions you will be getting the upgrade patch.:)
