These interviews just worry me at this point. They've said the same stuff for well over a year, and I'm sorry but it ain't comforting. They just seem awkward now, as if they've told the reviewer 'here are the questions you can ask'. Ugh. Please show something at E3...

See, I've stayed pretty close to hyper-free on Witcher 3 this whole time. I find them reassuring. Much better than if they changed what they were saying, after all. I don't need new toys or promises of new tricks - I'm happy if they can accomplish what they stated. Also, I hadn't heard the storyline being too linear comment before.

The non-linear story thing was also mentioned for cyberpunk in that one interview.

Nah, they've mentioned it before - you'll be able to do it in any order you want to, but that order will result in a slightly different point of view on the plot.

From what I understand (i.e. my interpretation of how the game is going to work, based on information we know), the first "act" of the game has you going around different villages/towns/etc. , trying to gain information. Once you've learned enough, you move on to "act 2." This is when your actions and inactions (the places where you didn't take on a quest) are given a consequence, essentially changing the state the world is in, keeping it from getting stale.

No, I knew that. All of that. What I meant was, that they are so dedicated to this idea, they don't even refer to the storyline as a storyline, amongst themselves, but as a story arc. Everyone calls their plot a storyline - comics, movies, novels, etc. Also plot arc and so forth. It's encouraging to see they are trying to scrub the very idea of a linearity from their personal lexicon.

New CD Projekt RED and Witcher 3 Visual Identification Unveiled

CD PROJEKT RED, the developer behind the critically acclaimed Witcher series of games, is excited to unveil a new image of both the studio and its leading title—The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and provides new details about the titular Wild Hunt.

Established in 2002, located in Warsaw (HQ) and Kraków, Poland, CD PROJEKT RED was born out of raw passion to video games. The studio’s founders—Michał Kiciński and Marcin Iwiński, both pioneers in video game distribution in Poland in the 90s, decided to employ their gaming industry experience in video game development. A lot of time has passed since 2002, and the studio’s logo remained mostly untouched. Until today.

The new REDbird logo is a combination of energy and passion for game-making the studio is known for. This is how Adam Badowski, CD PROJEKT RED’s Head of Studio, sees the change:

We are rebels and rebels are free. Just like birds. The Northern Cardinal, or REDbird, is what we see ourselves in the industry: intrepid, bold and confident; flying high and aiming even higher. The color, cardinal RED, is something that connects it with another bird, a mythological creature close to our cultural roots and heritage—the Rarog, a small firebird believed to bring luck to people. RED stands for energy, the inner fire that drives us; it represents something very close to everyone here in the studio—the creativity and passion we harness from within ourselves to make the best RPGs in the world.

Starting May 14th, the REDbird logo will become the new, official logo of CD PROJEKT RED—it will accompany all official assets and will form the core of the studio’s visual identification.

Along with the new studio logo, CD PROJEKT RED is thrilled to unveil the new logo of it’s most ambitious game—The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Putting the titular Wild Hunt in its center, the new logo casts the spotlight on the mask of one of its ominous leaders—general Eredin.

The Wild Hunt has always been thought to presage war, great plagues and death. Their origin unknown, these ghastly riders instilled fear in the hearts of men and are believed to be able to steal people’s spirits that would later join the cavalcade. They come at night, in the winter and their appearance is always preceded by the aurora borealis.

In The Witcher 3, the Wild Hunt are not mere bosses at the end of a corridor. They’re part of the lore, part of the system of folk beliefs, they’re both something that children say stories about to scare each other and an entity that can wipe out entire villages in one night. The Wild Hunt is essential to the whole Witcher universe and in The Witcher 3 it will finally take center stage.

The ones who command the Hunt remain a mystery even bigger than the Hunt itself. Their number and purpose are shrouded with mystery, their cold steel however is not—many have witnessed the Hunt’s atrocities, almost none survived to tell the tale.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a story-driven, next-generation open world role-playing game, set in a graphically stunning fantasy universe, full of meaningful choices and impactful consequences. In The Witcher 3, you play as Geralt of Rivia, one of a dying caste of monster hunters, and embark on an epic journey in a war-ravaged world that will inevitably lead you to confront a foe darker than anything humanity has faced so far—the Wild Hunt.

More information about the game and the Wild Hunt is planned to be released soon. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in February, 2015.

That would be cool and if they get questions I'm sure some will include CP, but I think they really want to focus on W3. And rightfully so.

Quick reminder that the CDPR/GOG summer conference is in about 19 hours.
As Sard said, the focus will be TW3, but they also usually have interesting company news at these events.

Sweet; GOG conferences often result in them giving away a free game for a limited time. I wouldn't count on it, of course, but it might be worth checking their site later on.

(Speaking of free stuff, Sniper Elite V2 is free on Steam today only, so if GOG doesn't end up giving out goodies, at least there's that.)

Best preorder deal seems to be on Amazon. A physical copy of the game for two dollars more than you'd pay at GOG with the full discount for owning both prior games, and with free Prime shipping as the cherry on top? Yes, please. GOG-exclusive goodies for W2 sucked and were totally not worth giving up on a physical copy for. They even deleted the vanilla game files once it got updated and refused to update the "known problems and solutions" thread in the forum with new updates (including some I personally sent them) beyond May. Of 2011. I could go on, but suffice it to say that they truly have no idea how to handle new game releases.

So... optional GOG client (with achievements to boost e-peen!!!1111), underwhelming new W3 trailer that's 98% cutscene and 2% gameplay, and pre-orders for that game we all knew was coming open up. If that's all and I'm not missing something, talk about an underwhelming conference. No one can build up the hype for virtually nothing quite like CD Projekt companies do.

Trailer was alright. Collectors edition swag is standard. GoG Galaxy is cool. Ciri fans are gonna cream. Probably.

Well they've gotta save something for E3 right?

Anyways I'm still looking forward to gameplay and more stuff about GOG Galaxy.

Maybe, but one has to wonder why they bothered teasing everyone at all if the payoff had to be so small. It's more than a little irritating that preorders are up, their games never have demos, and I still have no idea what actually playing the game will be like. The ratio of flash to substance here is way off.

No.

And you are buying from Amazon, too. Okay.

Suffice to say, some people truly have no idea how to handle good news.

Of course from Amazon. GOG was the right choice for the second game because it was the only truly DRM-free version of the game, but even physical versions will be DRM-free this time around and GOG's bonuses tend to be really weak. The four exclusive tracks in the soundtrack? Second game had that too, and they all sound like rougher versions of stuff already on the soundtrack. Multiplayer beta for a digital version of a board game? Just writing that sentence out made me drowsy. They also treat their GOG versions like dirt and literally gave them away to people who bought the game from other sources. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with both for the price of the one?

Amazon may be an evil internet monopoly, but they're my evil internet monopoly. Besides, CDPR chose a publisher for physical versions that forced them to use regional pricing even though they knew that would happen and were, until that point, supposedly very much against the practice, so my opinions of their business practices and ethics aren't exactly very high at the moment. I'm actually debating whether I should preorder at all or just wait for a used physical copy, because that would be so wonderfully poetic. Voting with my wallet and all that jazz.

As for the trailer, it's okay. The trailers for the second game were way better, though. World of the Witcher (or Witcher's World or whatever it was called)? At least that didn't dangle gameplay pieces in front of you with quick cuts that would make even the Bourne producers motion sick. Charles Dance sounds ridiculous as the emperor. Locations look good, but again, you barely see anything because of all the quick cuts. Basically, all this trailer did was show that some of the wonky love scene animations are still present ( 1:58 ) and reveal what certain characters we already knew were going to be present will look like. Cool stuff, but I expected more than another hype trailer after the big Geralt picture on GOG's homepage for a week.

What excited us, was the awesome gameplay fight animations we saw. Very crisp, very clean, looked like a lot of fun.

Crossbows are in, which is interesting.

Ciri! at last!

Yennefer! At last!

"Every choice you make will end poorly." Great. Just great.

Opening and closing scenes, ravens and corpses, such powerful imagery...using the in-game engine, which means the game is going to look very, very good.

CE means I can get a medallion!

Gog stuff..well, I'm already a supporter of GOG because they try for DRM free. That's my wallet-vote. And because I'd rather give all my money to the publisher than any to Amazon or Valve or whoever.

I'm not sure why you don't appreciate the gameplay bits - Signs being used, swordfights, mounted combat..all look great. Great fun. Very encouraging.

The trailer and speech were very satsifying to me, EXCEPT I'm not hot on the figurine, (sorry, Marcin!) and the adventure game I'll have to see how it plays.

Goddamn 227 you're making me seem like Bob Ross, all happy little trees and sparkly streams...

The trailer blew me away because I know it's gameplay/in-engine, and it looks new. It may be snippets of it, but CDPR haven't pulled a Ubisoft yet. When they showed me TW2 screenies a year in advance, it got even better.
