The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - New Screenshots and Info

+
The Witcher is realistic game for adults and because of that I expect from this game rational things. In real life you increase your abilities through exercises(in the game it is fight), because of that earning xp by fighting and killing monsters is crucial for me. Moreover, I think that quests must don't give xp at all, because you earn xp during process, not in the end of it. Therefore I expect earning money, and other stuff, like knowledge and etc. from quests, but not xp! XP should be earned during of performing quest while you are fighting, stealing, stealthing, and etc. Of course you can learn new skills from teachers, but to improve this skills and you must use it in practice again.

Doing anything IRL gives a person experience. If it helps, imagine that Geralt is such a skilled and masterful witcher that killing monsters is old hat for him so it does not give him experience.

It would be very sad...

Larger than Skyrim and only 100 hours total game-time? I was expecting at least 200 hours, maybe even more. Hopefully it's not all open space with nothing to do. People don't like nothing to do. Needs more content, things you can keep doing.

You guys, at CDPR, have no idea how happy You make me feel. With all the crap going on in the gaming industry today, You are really bringing so much light and hope for all of us.

Long live CDPR!

nice screenshots; marcoolio: signed ;)

I really don't want to be nag, but I don't see saddle-girth on this screensh.

I think it is a better system. Mass Effect 2 is the only game a remember, off the top of my head, that had a similar system (maybe ME3 also). It will still be kind of like grinding but grinding on every side quest.

The Witcher 3 will be available in 2014 for all high-end platforms, including PlayStation 4.

Still very vague. Can't you just specify what those platforms are explicitly or those plans aren't finalized for some reason?

Looks very nice, but just to be sure... these screenshots are being rendered with new RED Engine 3?

They said that we'll always be able to see points of interest so I think there will be less empty space. Plus the side quests are hand-crafted (whereas I think a lot of Skyrim's were randomly generated and overall very generic). It doesn't surprise me that TW3 will have a shorter play-time despite a larger world because I expect higher quality quests :D

I applaud monster hunting not yielding XP points. You guys only see your typical pseudo RPG here, where CDPR is actually trying to implement some authentic role playing mechanics.

Geralt is already a master swordsman, a seasoned witcher. His issues have to do with humanity and morality, not with learning new fighting skills. He's old and tired of getting monster intestines all over his face.

In role playing, your character -not YOU!- needs real motivations. Gaining experience points should be a transparent, natural result of subtle progression in a character's physical, mental or whatever state, and NEVER a goal on its own. You don't play RPGs to gain XP and become an unstoppable killing machine. If you do, you're better off simply playing action games.

NO! Earning xp from monsters is one of the fundamental parts of RPG! In RPG self-improvement has the same imporatance as the story and other things. Why is it interesting to explore the world in RPG? Because there are a lot of beautiful places? No! Beautiful but boring Skyrim is proof for that, where autolevelling spoiled any pleasure of playing. Exploring the world is interesting not only with funny quests, characters, and places but with desire to improve yourself too. And this improving of your character must be achieved by realistic experience like fights with monsters. Skyrim was too boring for me, because there was autolevelling, and there is no matter with your level, and because of that it was not interesting to fight with monsters. I don't want that CDPR repeated faults of Bethesda.

Thanks, you just proved my point. If XP and killing is so important to you then maybe you should play other genres.

calm down. There are other, and from an immersive perspective, much better ways for an Character to improve.

I outlines some of it in this thread:
