Hi guys

So...the big day is nearly here!!
I upgraded...actually i built a new gaming rig just for W3 however i havent bought the GPU yet because i will wait for some benchmarks first (pre ordered the CE ) and then decide which GPU to buy. To be honest most provably i will be getting a GTX970 so assuming the bellow specs do you think i can run the game in 1080p Ultra settings with hairworks and all the other stuff turned on at 60 FPS?

Code:
CPU: i5-4690k 3,5GHz (not yeat overclocked, planing to do so at about 4GHz)
RAM: 8GB Balistix 1600Mhz
SDD: Samsung 250GB
GPU: GTX970
Desired Results:
Code:
Resolution: 1080p
FPS: 60
Settings: Ultra
Hairworks: ON
AA: ON
All goodies: ON
You think that might be possible?

No.
Hairworks is a performance hog, and even without that you'll probably fall a bit short of your trageted performance.

And would that config work for the same desired results but at 30FPS ?

Personally I'm interested in having a good quality video recording for a Let's Play!
With pretty much the same config: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G and an i-5 4670 with 16GB RAM

Yes, shouldn't go below 30 actually. Don't know about a mob of furry wolves attacking a furry Geralt, though ;)

So. 35fps average @ 2560x1440 uber with hairworks disabled and SSAO. On a GTX 970.

Yeah. I'll settle for 1080p on my TV..

A 30% difference between 780 and 780Ti is perfectly reasonable (both cards tested are OCed versions, the 780Ti thus has 30% more raw power). TW3 scales very well with the GPU's raw performance - on GCN and Maxwell. Kepler is left behind in terms of performance per FLOPS by 20-50%; meaning it gets less FPS out of its horsepower.

They added the 980, the difference from the 970 is 5 frames (10%, which is barely in standard). Don't know, there seems to be contrasting results around, still waiting for some more data

Yes indeed, that would be wiser, specially in the following days we will see a bunch of benchmarks and configs

If you're at FullHD you can hope for high, without Hairworks, with ~30FPS

I hate that trashtalk about better tesselation performance on maxwell cards.
For example GTX 980 specifications vs GTX 780 ti specifications

Surprise! Nvidia wants you to buy a new card.
However, these spec sheets don't even contain numbers on the tessellation performance ;)

Yes, because that tesselation performance just invented by nvidia.

Maxwell is better at it, that much is true, but the differences are not that huge. (See for example hardware.fr for some theoretical test: http://www.hardware.fr/articles/933-4/performances-theoriques-geometrie.html)
Except when you compare the numbers for unculled triangles, where Kepler loses terribly to both newer GCN and Maxwell. Actually this coincides rather well with some of the performance trends seen in the pcgameshardware.de benchmarks.

Maybe maxwell better. But not so much, that GTX 960 outperform GTX 780!

Have a look at the "drawn triangles" - here GM206 is actually 12% faster than a (full) GK110/780Ti.

Oh wait, I'm not even looking at the tesselation results, they are down below the ones I'm talking about.
If only my French were in better shape.

I'm running the game just for technical sake.. i5 2500, 8Gb RAM, GTX 560ti.. Surprisingly it seems quite playable 1920x1080 at the very lowest settings, v-synched and locked to 30fps (both ingame). Stutters if not locked @ 30. Keeps 30 quite well but I played tutorial and ran a bit with horse after it. I tested with 347.09, now I try to install 352.86.

No problems now except for the ever-spawning "controller detected" (I'm playing with a controller). Very tedious.
