970 here, ubersampling no issues.

Also, don't forget you can get whatever graphically impressive game after TW2, but Ubersampling is simply not comparable because that's rendering at 4K(that's what ubersampling/supersampling does) and well your GPU is doing 4 times the work.

I just ordered an EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 4GB.

I will now join the green team - I"m such a traitor and feel horrible. Well, not really :)

Welcome to the Green team!!! best cards ever!!! ;-)

Although i would have recommended the EVGA 970 ssc as it is the best over all 970 from EVGA, the FTW being the second

Would you suggest turning off the ubersampling for Witcher 3 then? I am not gaming at 4k nor intending to for some time to come. 1080p for the foreseeable future!

My older setup, and by that I mean my GPU, I still have my i5-2500k and 8GB of ram. Anways my EVGA GTX 670FTW 2GB was able to run The Witcher 2 at 1080 with 60FPS without SS, with SS it dropped to 40FPS and despite a few dips here and there it ran smoothly. So I don't see anyone having issues with issues with later cards, especially 900 series cards. Of course every system is different and no two systems will run a game with the exact performance.

So far I've been lucky in the sense of not having issue when running games on high or ultra with my GTX 670. I did with Far Cry 4, even on medium I had issues, but that's Ubisoft for you. And I had some minor issues with DA:I dipping down into 12-15fps on my 670.

Hmm, my understanding is that the FTW, is EVGAs flagship model, followed by SSC, then SC.

All have undergone recent revisions - one of which is currently available to me - the SSC ACX 2.0 + Although, I was too late to alter my order.

Of course, but this time they aren't going to give the option to ubersample at launch... well I suppose one can just manually add the entry for it in the .ini but it won't be there in the graphics config at launch. Good thing, last time people complained about poor performance and "bad optimization" while having ubersampling on. Probably made looking for actual issues a lot harder.

Will 2x 980 be Enough for 4K 30FPS Ultra?

Does anyone have any clue?

Close if the thread has been answered.

I'm want to know what is minimal to play this game at Ultra at a Playable framerate.

I think so. 4k30 is twice the load of 1080p60 (4x the pixels, 1/2x the frames). If CDPR has been taking advantage of all the help they've been getting from nVidia, they should have reasonably good SLI at launch or soon after.

Your challenge is going to be getting a 4k signal to your monitor. HDMI 2.0 with 4:2:0 decimation cuts no mustard with me. DisplayPort is immature enough to be a bottomless pit of frustration.

With the Witcher 3 being just around the corner, I have come to this thread to ease my mind (it probably won't happen because I won't like what I'll see).
I am one of the many people that are here to see if they can run the game on their rigs, of course I don't expect 100% correctness, but I am pretty sure that a lot of people here have a lot more expertise on the field, thus more chances to predict if I will be able to run it or not, anyway, to the point.

I have an i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz which is probably the worst part of my pc atm.
The second worse part is probably my ram, I have 8gbs with terrible DRAM frequency which is 668MHz (I had 4 and stacked a friend's other 4 because he didn't need it anymore.)
And then my recent addition which is an Asus GTX 970 which I think will be enough for what I want.

So the question is, will my CPU and RAM be enough for The Witcher 3 to play on High with above 30-40 fps?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

DDR3 1333 is a 667 Mhz clock. DDR3 1333 is all you can run with an LGA 1156 motherboard anyway. On the general principle that you're always better off with more memory, no matter the speed, I think that's OK. What worries me is the CPU. Clarkdale (i3, i5 6xx) CPUs have an inferior memory controller. If you could find a cheap Lynnfield (Core i5 7xx or i7 8xx), it would be a big improvement.

When I get my hands on the game, I'm going to try running it with CPUs all the way down to an E8400 and a Q6600, to see how far below spec you can go successfully. But I just don't know yet.

No that's fine, you have to multiply that number by 2(DDR=DOUBLE Data rate) - that's about 1333Mhz, pretty standard.

Your CPU is what's concerning.

I feared so about the CPU, the problem is, I need a 3rd generation CPU if I want to keep this motherboard, and the 3rd generation CPUs are more pricey than the 4th, do you have any to recommend?

I don't want to change both MB and CPU because then I will have to pay more than 400 euros, thanks again in advance.

The Lynnfield CPUs are not going to be available from sellers of new hardware. They're long out of production, and available only used and surplus.

This is where buying used parts on eBay is really handy.

..which are very inefficient compared to Maxwell cards. Don't know if you actually pay your electricity bills yourself but that's a huge selling point for me. Especially since I'm running two of them.

And...
This thread's not going to turn into an AMD vs Nvidia war. So time to go back on topic, everyone.
