The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - PC System Requirements are here!

+
hey guys. I just recently saw the new 4k images and looks stunning . But since I have a bad experience running the witcher 2 In Sli (780ti) with bad scalling ; stuttering and some glitches. I'm very worried that any of the staff aren't telling anything about these feature.

Most Pc gamers don't have the titan X to run bad porting games or non Sli configuration games ( evil within). These make a night or day depending of how well the scaling works. There are people with 280/290/970/980 sli/crossfire configuration that will be unable to run W3 at ultra /1440p if the scale works bad.

I'm not trying to start nothing. Bad the Sli/ crossfire in W2 wasn't well made in some maps. They are working with the base of the red engine again and it will be nice to see some news about this.

SLI will be available on day one because if you visit Geforce website, you'll see SLI mentioned for The Witcher 3. On the other hand before the release of GTA V there was no SLI mentioned for it but now that Nvidia released the SLI profile you can see SLI mentioned below it which means Nvidia update it accordingly so if SLI is mentioned for TW3 right now then it means they already have SLI support and will release it near 19th May.

One more point that I forgot to mention. The current gen consoles can currently utilize at least 6 of their 8 cores for games, and being as underpowered as they are CPU wise, the Witcher 3 will HAVE to be programmed to be capable of using at least 6 threads in order to have acceptable performance..

This is an unexpected benefit of the current gen consoles for PC gaming. The weak multicore CPUs of the current gen consoles FORCED developers to implement highly scalable multithreaded algorithms in their engines to exploit the octa core CPUs in the PS4 and Xbox One as much as possible..

if you look at w8.1 performance monitor you see about 800 threads flying around easily. In pc it's more about how the os handles threads to any given core. Devs have greater control on the cpu threads on consoles since those 6 cores are dedicated to the game you are playing. In pc with 4 cores or more and Intel hyperthreading we gain more linearity for how fast those threads are executed. With i5 and 4 cores there's also lot to be gained by how fast those cores work. Even more so on two core processors.

Greetings,

I have preordered the game and I'd like to get a general idea if I would be able to run W3 on medium or high settings with acceptable performance (40-50+ fps);

Here are my hardware specs:
i7 870 2.93 GHZ
6 GB 1600 mhz RAM
2 GB GTX 770

If people with better knowledge about the game and its performance could give their input it would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks.

I think High 60 should be doable on that, cannot say for Ultra. In this case really it depends on how that CPU fares in modern titles, that should give you an idea.

Help! Was wondering what settings/fps I could run Witcher 3 on with this Laptop spec.

Hello everyone,

With this laptop spec, do you reckon I'd be able to play W3 at all, even on low graphics settings and what fps I could get?

Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz

Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M <--- I know this is the bottleneck, but even with this.

8GB Ram (7.92 Gb usable)

1920x1080 60Hz

Win7 Home Premium 64-bit

I'd love to play the game; it literally looks incredible, but wouldn't mind sacrificing graphics just to play it. That said, if I did play on low graphics would there be any hindrance to game play (like for example not being able to read quest logs or whatever), or would they not have a significant effect.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated, or any other solutions you think could help too.

Cheers!

Hey, I own a

Phenom II X4 BE 965
10 GB RAM
and an old ATI 4870 1GB

I looking for a used GTX 770 but cannot decide which VRAM version I should go for. I could(!) get a 2GB version for ca. 170€ or the 4GB for a price of 210 bucks. Any tips?

Hi everyone
My rig:
i7 2600k 3.4 (overclocked to 4)
8gb RAM
670 2gb

Is there a real need to upgrade before the relese of TW3?

@johnnykarate23 I'm pretty sure that the game will look good even in low settings and i think that's what you will probably be able to play on with that laptop. Maybe medium as well but with a hit on fps.

@althrian I'd suggest you go for the 4GB version, never bad to have more Vram. The problem with your setup is your CPU though, which is quite a bit below minimum. I cannot tell you for sure but youprobably won't have an actual benefit from a better graphics card if your CPU bottlenecks it, which it probably will.

@Joruba It depends on what graphics settings you want to play. If you are happy with low/medium then you are fine. An upgrade to a 770 or 780 will give you a great boost since your CPU and RAM are already fine i think. With a 770 you will probably be able to play on high.

I was thinking to add another 8GB of DDR3 ram to my system, since I want to lay The Witcher 3 on ultra. The thing is what I hawe right now is this model of RAM: G. Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231431), with timings (CL) of 7-8-7-24, but this model is unavailable anymore, so I can only get this model (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428). This one has a different timing of 9-9-9-24. Will it cause any issues to install 2 different RAM kits, with different timings?

the voltage and speed need to be the same. Timings work with the lowest module specs. In your case both will work in 9-9-9-24.
this is in my experience anyway.

Question about the PC requirements.

Hello !

I have this setup:

i7 4770 (non K)
12 gb ram
Asus Strix GTX 970

I was wondering if I will be able to max the game at 60 fps, at a resolution of 1920x1080.

Thank you

Alan

The Witcher 3 requirements.

Hello.

My name is Cleiton and I would like to know if I can run The Witcher 3 on a GTX 580, because it practically has the same performance of a GTX 660.

Thank you.

if tw3 reaches 60 fps in 1080p with gtx 980, what is needed to reach 60 fps in 1440p or 2160p?

1440p is 78% more pixels than 1080p, and 2160p ("4K") is 300% more. I'm thinking SLI 970's or 980's for 1440p, and some monster rig for 4K.

They haven't said anything about performance on Fermi. There's nothing about Fermi architecture that would make them incompatible with the game. Some cards like the 1.5GB 580's may be limited by VRAM.

Intel Core i5-4670k Quad Core (3.40GHz @ max 4.20GHz)
Corsair H60 Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler
ASUS Z87-A: ATX, USB2.0, USB3.0, SATA6GB/S, SLi, XFIRE
8GB Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 1600MHz
PowerColor AMD R9 280X 3GB GDDR5
Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm
Corsair 650W Enthusiast Series Modular TXM-650
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit

My system appears to fall short of the recommended requirements. I'm dubious about buying it for the PC. I might simply opt for the PS4 version.

i5-2500k @ 4.2 Ghz
GTX 780 SLI @ 1100 Core, 6600 Mem
16 GB RAM 1600 Mhz

Wondering if I'll be able to get constant 30 FPS or higher on 1440p screen with this setup at Ultra. I'm not hoping for 60 FPS as I know you'll probably need SLI 980s'.
Can anyone pitch in??

Why a laptop??

@Aldem83 With that setup you probably won't be able to get 60 on max settings but i am pretty sure you'll be around 45-50 which is great.

@Bishie Your system fine. CPU is great and RAM are enough as well. The only thing that i would probably change if it was possible is the graphics card. Not that it's bad but if you have the ability to get a GTX 970 or a 290X, i would go for it. You will probably get a pretty good boost in fps with this change.

@RParmar Could be possible but i can't say for sure how performance will scale at 1440p. At 1080p, you'll be great even on max settings i think.

@NormanSador Well if you can only get a laptop i think that will do but for medium settings probably for decent fps.
