The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - PC System Requirements are here!

+
I had a custom MSI R9 290X before and while it's a pretty powerful card it has 2 major flaws.
(1) The card functions at 94 degrees and that's with the 2 fans at 100% speed which is unsettling and (2) it is a very very noisy card when gaming.
you read it :)

The sapphire addresses both of those issues and rarely passes 75 degrees on full load.

There were a few comparisons and it was even cooler than the 970. The MSI is arguably the worst version of 290, with Asus being 3rd best behind Sapphire and PCS

Frankly the 5-10 fps (most likely down to better optimization for Nvidia products as I have seen many benchmarks in which 290 has outperformed, http://i.imgur.com/8K3JZKO.png) doesn't justify the 0.5 less Vram (that is already proving to be an issue with games like Shadow of Mordor), higher price and flat out wrong consumer practices that Nvidia tried to endorse.

Hence my purchase, but to each their own.

EDIT: For reference in regards to your 290X reaching 90+, the Sapphire is the best 290/x version http://i.imgur.com/pUXo9UY.png.

Required specs for High/Ultra graphics?

Hello,

First of all I would like to say that I have checked the 'Recommended' specs already, but as you all know in most cases these are still insufficient for running a game on High or Ultra. I was just wondering, if there have been some tests already on what the requirements will be for running the game high-end. Obviously there have been plenty of promotion video's with a semi-finished build which should give a good impression on what will be necessary.
From what I can tell a single GTX 980 probably won't cut it, or can someone prove the opposite? I'm considering GTX 980 in SLI or the new Titan X, or can someone enlighten me with other options/ideas?

Thx,
Nosferatu

@Nosferatu_BE

A single 980 does infact cut it according to Gamestar who got to play the game for 2 days a while ago. They mentioned a slight drop in Novigrad in a huge crowd(IIRC) but otherwise it was 60fps all the way.

Gamestar article from a while ago said they ran the game at 60fps for the majority of the time except in populated areas like Novigrad city on a single GTX 980 at max settings, and that was a while ago and was said that optimization hadn't been finished yet.
By the time the game releases and Nvidia optimization drivers for the game come out, you should be able to do a constant 60fps on a single 980 I'd imagine.
No need for SLI 980's or a Titan X based on the info we've been told.

I learned about the MSI 290X the hard way i suppose. When i was getting it there weren't any others in the market at the time so i went for that one.

As for the 970, it's pretty clear and agreed upon that Nvidia screwed up and the only reason i chose the 970 was due to budget restrictions. Despite that, it appears to be the better card compared to the 290X up to 1440p. Above the 1440p mark and with supersampling i'm pretty sure the Vram issue will arise and the 290X will run ahead. It's through reviews and tests which i found what to buy in the end.

This is an excellent video showing that the 970 is actually better most of the time than the 290X. The first image you posted doesn't seem consistent with the reviews and benchmarks i have seen around the web.

Here is one at 1440p. Things are about 50-50 here i suppose although the 970 still comes on top on more

Upgrading PC for Tw3!(I am useless in hardware)

Hello, I posted while back my settings, and finally, I will upgrade, And I need and upgrade, GPU or CPU; I can only buy one piece, so need tips,

This is my actual Rig

Gtx 760 2gb
I5 2500 3,3@ Not OC

I Was thinking of getting or a new processor, an i5 4460 or a Gtx 970, this is my preliminar view, but I would like to consider another options, (Overclocking is not an option, is like pushing the Autodestruction on my rig)

Thanks!

There's a dedicated hardware thread right here mate http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/32979-The-Witcher-3-Wild-Hunt-PC-System-Requirements-are-here! :)

Definitely get a GTX 970. For gaming purposes there isn't much difference between i5 2500 and i5 4460, but there is a HUGE difference between GTX 760 and GTX 970.

GTX 970 coupled with i5 2500 would most probably allow you to run TW3 on ultra or mostly ultra at 1080p at more than 40fps.

All the laptop gamers here, raise your hands, please!

Why must nearly everyone around here own a GTX 770-980 SLI GPU on a tricked-out desktop? Doesn't anyone play games on 'noober' cards or on laptops anymore?

i got luck with my hard. OC

Mother asus Formula V
CPU Intel I7 3770K @4.6
RAM Gskill Trident x 16 G(4x4) @2500
GPU MSI Twin Froz GTX780 @1300
HD Crucial M4 500 2x120 Raid 0

i think that i can do ultra on 1080P. if i cant i will have to do sli with another 780.

Well the 780 is definitely a good card. I think you could do 1080p ultra but at lower than 50 fps. Can never be sure of numbers of course, just a guess.

I've got a nice laptop, but (partially) for this game, I built a desktop too :)

But remember a lot of people come on forums to ask if they will run x game with their $2000+ setups, to compensate for something i guess... So don't worry about your pc, you overall have a better life than them ;)

Anyone can answer if my shitty PC will run the game in 1600x900 resolution on the LOWEST graphics settings at 30fps?

AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.00Ghz
8GB of RAM DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB

Yes, it is a crappy machine but it will run the game on lowest settings at 30fps? 1600x900 screen resolution

I doubt it. that video card is really way under the minimum spec. your cpu is exactly the minimum spec, but probably that system won't handle it. You should build a new dude, you still have more than a month

So i stopped at 1255MHz core clock and 3750MHz Memory clock. Everything is stable and gained about 5fps on benchmarks. I haven't increased the voltage of the card but i changed the TDP from 100% to 105% since it was hitting 98-99% with the overclock. I will run more stuff tomorrow to see if everything is ok.

So basically i am 205MHz and 500MHz above core and memory stock speeds respectively. Pretty cool

Nice clocks there ! I think the improvement will vary depending on game and you'll see bigger gains in some games :)

At that resolution you might be able to pull it off.
Keep in mind these sort of game system requirements are always a bit inflated by devs, not to mention these were announced a while ago, before optimization was finished too, so the minimum spec might be even lower now.
I'd recommend you wait until launch to see some users benchmarking on their own systems, or maybe, do the you-know-what to test it out on your own rig to see if it actually runs properly, before committing to a purchase. But of course I'm not condoning the you-know-what under any circumstances ;)

Finally got the new gpu so I should be good right?
I5 3570k
8gb ram
gtx 970

First game I tested last weekend after I got it in was Dragon Age Inquisition which had given my old 660 a little trouble. On the 970 it runs like butter on ultra for most settings. Witcher 3?

I would think 970 should get you High @ 60fps on 1080p but after seeing the 290 apparently only being able to achieve medium-high @ 30fps on 1080p I literally just don't know anymore.
