Hi!

I am glad Wild Hunt riders dont have icicles like at concept arts, becouse it looked like some blizzard stuff. Atmosphere and locations are amazing! Combat seems too cinematic to me and Wild Hunt ship doesnt seems like from Witcher universe ;)

But most importantly – DO YOU HAVE POLISH VOICE VERSION OF THIS TRAILER? Witcher is wierd in english to me, I appreciate original.

Nahh, take another look on combat in the trailer. It`s fine. It just looks smoothish/cinematic cus of full attack animations I suppose.

I have AMD card and I just hope that I'm not gonna miss lots of details with PhysX disabled.

Of course it seems a bit out of place. I mean, it's from another world.

But I actually liked that they gave the Wild Hunt a ship resembling Naglfar from northern mythology,
especially now that the Skellige islands are a part of TW3.

The Witcher is a patchwork of myths and fairytales put together with love and skill.

And the people only perceive this ship as a ship of the dead.
For the Aen Elle it's probably just a normal battleship..

It looks amazing, but please stop using that darn sharpening filter, it is such a bad piece of tech.

I think it's too early to judge the combat system, until they fully reveal it, so far it looks pretty good. It's normal to pick flashy moves for a trailer.
Bur from what I see there's no more rolling around. Just like in the books Geralt fights with fast and precise movements, pirouettes and also precise and deadly strikes. On this account the trailers deliver. :)

Guys, this keeps bothering me:

In the VGX trailer, the Wild Hunt is physically present in Geralt's world.
Usually they could only manifest themself as spectral riders.

How did they cross between the two worlds ?
Don't tell me they have Ciri...

I have a faint recollection that in W2 it was mentioned that they usually send spectral version of themselves but at times appeared in physical form as well. How else did Geralt try to fight them off in one of the flashbacks?

(inb4 something to do with the last book)

They might not have Ciri, don`t panic :)/>/> . I suppose it might have something to do with the medinverne night or other special day of the year.During such a day wild hunt might have more power to cross the world or something. It`s only my speculation though

Perhaps, the appearance of Naglfar is relative to the Skellige culture, being based on Norse Mythology.
The spectres change shape according to whose mythology they encounter. After all, the Wild Hunt goes by many different names in the many cultures it's present in, everywhere between Welsh to Norse to Germanic to Slavic. Each would have to have a different account of what they saw, and it'd probably be consistent with local folklore in each case.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Hunt

I think it'd be fucking cool to implement a multicultural spectral myth in such a way. Either that or it would be too Difficult for Geralt to encounter and fight them if they were all rolling along the night sky on horseback above Geralt's reach, so they made them corporeal instead for practical purposes.

Why not ? Do all elves have to be weaklings ?
I've seen enough elven armor made out of leaves, wood and leather for a lifetime.

I'm actually grateful for every stereotype that CDPR breaks and redefines.
The RPG genre can use fresh ideas that help it move forward, out of that swamp of
antiqued definitions it has been stuck in for decades.

I agree with you completely!
CD Projekt Red has already shown unique and non stereotypical monster and character design in Witcher 2 - for example Draug and gargoyles - my favourites. And their skill of using medieval and slavic character clothing & element & world design is unmached in my opinion. Maybe Assassins Creed comes first in this, but it's more "pseudohistoric" game than Witcher. I think they have ones of the best designers in game development industry...
The world they have created feels "real" and unique.
Of course Japanese fantasy game design sometimes is more original, than western, but, godammit, I hate those megaswords and superlong elven ears :D/>/>. This "western" approach of Witcher's world is closer to my heart - well, maybe because I'm European and also familiar with some of the slavic and norse themes of my neighboring countries. Emperorzorn put it perfectly: "The Witcher is a patchwork of myths and fairytales put together with love and skill."
Skyrim also have some very atmospheric, grand and clever level design (in some parts), but, on the other hand they had such boring and sterotypical creature design! I have admit, after many years of reading fantasy and playing RPGs I have become bored with this woodelf&dragon&dwarven stuff... Of course Witcher has all races mentioned above :)/>/> , but still... they look fresh, not to mention some monster design. ...By the way I loved Planescape Tourment's superb and unique (but sometimes ridiculous) design very, very much, but that's totally different approach... we have Witcher here with more classic and realistic world, but still, good and clever design means very much to me.

Long story short .. like emperorzorn, I am very glad about alien-badass-elf character design - that's some fresh approach!

I wish they had also blooddrinking dwarves and halflings the size of a mountain :D/>/> (..just kidding)

Spoilers! Then again most people here have read the books, right? No?! Go read 'em!

I believe in the books it said, that on some rare occasions they can physically appear in our world. I can't remember if it has something to do with a special day ( the changing of the seasons) or that it requires a lot of resources from the Aen Elle and is extremely dangerous because they can end up in many worlds.

Because in the book they wild hunt was hunting Ciri through many worlds, when she escaped. And I believe they appeared normal as well, so I guess their spectral form is a choice?

I wish the trailer was a bit longer. Even Angry Joe admitted it was too short.

As far as trailers for a game in developement goes I am very satisfied. Sure, could be longer but then they would have to give away more details and to be honest - I do not want that.
When release comes I guess we will be getting something similar to the TW2 trailers (hope/despair...etc) focusing on the different aspects of the story. Next up should be gameplay :D

Anyways, thanks for the upload, now I can stare at the HD version in disbelief

The Wild Hunt is a special branch of the Aen Elle elven military, a heavy cavallry nicknamed "The Red Riders/Dearg Ruadhri" that spearheaded conquests of worlds.
According to the books they can only manifest in Geralt's world as spectral riders,
wraiths looking like skeletons clad in rustling armor.

The non-military leaders of the Aen Elle dress normal, in fine garments (Auberon for example).

But that's about all we know. :p/>

And there is something else that is bothering me from the trailer:
Instead of spectral riders, the Wild Hunt seems to be physically present in the VGX trailer.
Which in essence means... they probably have Ciri.
Or else they couldn't travel between both worlds, right ?

Indirect Ciri confirmation ?

Or... Jacque De Aldersberg, if you chose not to fight the King in the first game.

I love it so much! And every time I watch it and Geralt says: "I returned." I get chills.
