ilayoeli, the combat has to be fast because the witchers are darn fast. Gotta stick to the lore. A guy who can hit a flyting arrow with his sword moves really fast. In the first book, in the story about the Strygga, Geralt fights off several attackers in a tavern before anyone even noticed what the hell happened. Which is why the Killing Monsters is truly an amazing example of how he fights. He kills things before they even notice his sword. There should, however, be equally fast enemies who would pose a threat though.

I agreed. If he's the best witcher/swordman, taking out a few men should be like taking candy from a baby. But to do so you need to learn how to dodge/parry/counter perfectly, especially when fighting against more skilled opponents or sorcerers.

But in terms of speed, look at the big Letho in his trailer. Super fast, evading arrows and shit. I want that gameplay!

I Agree.
If you do a slow pirouette to dodge a sword attack, you become a slow dead man. Anyway, considering that the speed of the demo was accelerated due to time constraints, let's hope it won't be nerfed too much.

I wish the combat may have different tempo. I can hold and release the button to give a greater impact, or I can hold a second to have a different strike after some combats. Or Maybe like TW1, when I have enough combats, Geralt's Blade will shine and if I press the key now, Geralt will have differnt moves, maybe more powerful and swifter, or create more damage to some tough guys. If the game has more choices to create different combat, I have to consider more, and choose the better action, that may have fun.

The problem of to much speed is, that either you can't react fast enough to play it or Geralt is overpowered and taking down enemies is to easy.
I think the speed of TW2 was ok, only the reactiveness schould be higher. If i decide to cancel an move, than it should be possible, because Geralt is "fast" and has his "unnatural WItcher senses".

Honestly, I can't see all this unstoppable bolt action, considering that Geralt announces his attacks turning his back and the enemies, while attacking, raise their arm above their heads. If the developer playing managed to parry a crossbow bolt and reversing a sword slash, kicking the thug who threw it, then figuring out opponent's moves must be affordable.
We also have to remember that the difficulty setting were in easy mode and there will be foes who are much more dangerous than a bunch of thugs. Not?

Of course, I haven't said that it will be a problem or to easy but it would if developers didn't care. Its a general problem fpr games, not only TW.

Enemies should be done with the Dark Souls mentality imo, if you are a good player then killing 3 thugs should be easy peasy, but if you slack off they can kill you in a heartbeat

Dark Souls enemy A.I. sucks bad.
I'd hope that enemies cooperated and coordinated in group attacks like in Max Payne 3 (probably the best AI of the past gen).
Obviously it is a shooter, but I'm just referring to the spirit and concept of foes' organizing capability.
I talked about MP3 only because it's hard to mention a sword-action game in which enemies don't act stupidly, maybe only God of War 3 has decent patterns.

Dark Souls is a rolling simulator it just requires timing and patience, not skill and creative thinking.

I agree. Apart from rolling, in DS all you have to do is running backwards and forward, the animations and the movements are clumsy as hell and it is all based on exploiting staggering animations, both yours and of the enemies.
It is slow paced, A.I. Sucks, graphics sucks and its concept is old.
It's artificially difficult and way overrated.
If you want a really difficult game that is also funny to play, choose Vanquish playing at the max difficulty (legendary mode).
Anyway, it seems that TW3 will be a lot more dynamic and various than DS.
If they manage to stay close to the "Killing Monsters" feeling, this will be one hell of a game.
I'm waiting to understand if it is possible to quickly shift from one enemy to another just like in that trailer. If it is, this game will be really awesome.

This has been raised before (her hair is also actually chestnut and not red). Who knows, maybe REDs (heh) had something in mind when they created Triss, so that's why we have these changes.

I do know that if they'd change the eye/hair color now there would be somewhat of a disconnect from the previous games. And while I value staying true to the books a huge deal, I think keeping the games consistent is much more important.

Yeah, I don't know why they did that. It's not like that's the only time it's mentioned in the books either.

Maybe they created Triss first as she was described but she didn't look unique enogh to be an eye catcher for the game. Or sha was to generic to be recognized as Triss. In TW1 her hair wasn't that red as in TW2.

Well if less generic really was the idea, CDPR goofed. "Green-eyed redhead" is pretty damn common.

But not in the game. The trinagle count for the character models was quit low. So they couldn't give the faces much detail. Maybe the original look wasn't satisfying.

Thank You

I wish they program Geralt to walk at one even pace that looks cool when he walks, as in... No slow motion walking, I don't like it when my game avatars do that,
it looks stupid and unatural. I think it is better, and more real looking if I push the left toggle forward and Geralt walks without being all slow-mo.
Please just have one walking seed, unless devs think it looks and plays better to change it up here and there, while walking through snow and waist deep waters etc.
On that note, I already love how Geralt walks in the demos and trailers, all of it looks perfect to me, from jogging to full sprint, then back to jogging and walking again look GREAT. I like how geralt leans forward when he sprints, it looks cool and real. I love how Geralt can walk backwards and even side step now. The blocking and walking at the same time kicks ass. The jump and climbing and horse combat animations rule, even the dodge is cool. Man @ this point TW2 can't even hold a flame to TW3. Devs I like your style, keep it up!
;)
