Why? Sometimes you overpower your enemies, sometimes they overpower you. It makes for varied and thus entertaining experience.

Besides, since the whole world will be unlocked from the start and enemies don't scale with the player, you may very well venture into some area that is simply too much for you in your current state.

I like that it's open and that we get to see more of the map unfold as we explore it.
As it should be ;)

Writeable witchers handbook

Hey,
i do not know if this wish has already been mentioned, so if this is a repost, just ignore it.

I would like to see, a witchers handbook in which i can insert empty pages and write my own notes one them. So, that you can freely add to the notes the game lets you discover, maybe what you already have tried and did not work. What you can expect to salvage, where this monster was found, etc. I also would like to have the ability to add drawings in a simple inkstyle way. Maybe exampts from the map as scrabs added to the handbook completed with notes. Imagine sitting in an inn in game and just recollecting your last encounter, writing down what you remember, maybe little story fragments.
And here's the twist: i would like this to be exportable so that it could be shared with other players like witchers exchaning experiance. One can imagine beautiful designed handbooks being traded in the forums.

This would be a wonderful way to increase immersion, identify with the witchercraft and add to the community at the same time. What do you guys think of this idea?

I have to say, this sounds like a very cool idea. If you were to be thrown into the game with limited knowledge and explanations, and you had to infer from details and observations and record notes and thoughts about monsters, people and locations all by yourself, it would be a very interesting concept that could lead to an amazing and quite rewarding experience. I'd add that other characters could give you their notes as well, like whenever someone tells you that "he'll mark that on your map", he actually marks that on your map, or makes a sketch of what the location you're trying to reach looks like.

Fact is, I don't think The Witcher 3 will be that game. First of all, it would take a lot of thought and testing to implement properly; secondly, you would probably have to center many of the game's aspects around that mechanic, and lastly, it could get frustrating. As I said, though, I like the idea very much. Now I wonder if it could be done with a mod...

What I found really underpolished in W2 was quality of in-game menus (map and equipment design really comes to mind - I was particularly upsent with how the map had so little detail shown on the screen) so what I would hope for W3 is to take time to polish those elements. I had an idea of a map that is sligthly animated - think of what Skyrim had: 3D like, full screen map but you could add a forest that is slightly moving along with the trees, sea areas with animated wavers etc. Other idea is that whole in-game menus are a "book" (be it Dandelion's 'Half a century of poetry' ;) ) and when the witcher browsers his equipment he slips the pages of the book (this is just a stylistic remark, actually animation of moving pages could be disturbing). Another thing is the ability of the interface to clearly show how a particular piece of equipment looks like (so a player can asses aesthetics of the design) - I also think Skyrim did a good job here but it lacked in terms of easily showing items stats and if its worth it to wear it. The idea is to combine information about an item with the way it is visualized on the scree so the information is clear and imaginative.

1 I think he meant that we shouldn't be invincible when we get to the end of the game, the difficulty should get higher as we get stronger, so we don't get to the end killing everything in one blow and the experience doesn't get diluted, and yes I know the monsters wont scale at all but at least in hardcore mode make most of them deadly even to high level players

2- I hope they limit the whole gps thing, gets kinda boring when every quest objective has a big red marker on it, I hate it when you don't even need to listen to the npc because the medieval gps system already gives you the location and a pointing arrow(next thing you know it'll be saying "turn left at the carcass and in 100m kill the peasant"), let us search for stuff a bit, like when an npc tells you to find another npc, make us look for him like in old rpgs , don't put a big red arrow on his head, make us pay attention so we can hear that he is in a certain part of town and that his name is Tim.

Well, they do have something like that already, the beastiary (see: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-01-the-witcher-3-the-other-monster-hunter): " Cross-referencing these with his bestiary, we learn that the monster is a very old, male Leshen." only it seems to be filled by the game, maybe talking to npcs or using the witcher sense. Only it seems it is not customizable right now, it just seem static entry of what Gerald has learned throughout the game. This is all fine and nice, but why not add the ability to scribble something yourself into it, also (along with the export stuff which would be _really_ cool, i think) ?

You should continue playing on Easy Mode. Notihing like finding overpowered gear and killing everyone with two blows? Might as well enable cheat codes, same amount of fun. He is a witcher but this isn't fun. There should always be someone who player should be worried about fighting even with maxed out character. Just like in real life, there is always someone smarter and stronger then you.

Hmm. I personally found FCR to be far more enjoyable than the vanilla mode. This was largely *because* one or two 'effective' blows were all that were necessary ~ but both for him and for you... With good defensive abilities, potions and tactics it was possible to extend the number of hits survivable somewhat, but not enough to just exchange blows. It felt a *lot* more like the combat from the books, or from the TV series... the base game was more like a brawl.

Researching monsters, and using the appropriate defensive and offensive potions and oils was nearly absolutely vital:
Spectres *needed* either exceptionally high sword skills or (and preferrably) spectre oils; Bloedzuigers and Kikimores bindweed (anti-acid); Kikimore and Centipedes insectoid oils; Centipedes, Wyverns, Basilisks, Cockatrice, Salamandra Golden Oriole (anti-venom). Each enemy also rewarded the correct sword technique - particularly for the higher orders within each group, where armour levels might be blocking 95% of the damage caused ~ using the correct (fast) technique could easily triple or quadruple the delivered damage, reducing the opportunity to be hit in return ~ or you could gamble, and use 'group style' to reduce the likelyhood of being struck, offset against a longer fight.

I found the battles where it was necessary to 'run around the room' while you regenerated to be immersion breaking... and *most* youtube footage of the basic game seems to show this behaviour as a norm. On the other hand, a steady retreat with a few carefully selected blows before avoiding becoming surrounded with a single pirouette, a few more blows, etc didn't ruin the feel in the same way, and with people and weaker monsters vulnerable to a few effective flurries of blows the whole combat was manageable without "silly" Benny Hill style combat chases.

I wrote about varied experience, you wrote about cheat codes. I believe we're not really talking about the same thing.

My own personal suggestions are... :D

...Bring back characters from the 1st Witcher game... like Shani, Sigfried and Yaven (maybe Alvin too?). ALSO BRING BACK Geralt's previous "love" (lust) conquests like Miss Vessna from the Outskirts Inn of Vizima and the witch, Abigail and Ves. I wouldn't mind seeing a round 2 between Geralt and those ladies. xD hehehe ... BY THE WAY!!! I HAVEN'T SEEN A SINGLE SHE-DWARFS SO FAR IN THE GAMES, YET THEY ARE MENTIONED!!! I WONDER HOW CUTE ARE THOSE LADIES-DWARFS!? ^_^ SERIOUSLY!!! I MEAN... DO DWARFS MATE WITH WOMEN AND SHE-ELVES?

I assume that Roach won't be available at all points, and if we find ourselves in fairly large areas without our horse, I'd like for some Haste ability. It can be helpful in a battle too. I would like it as a Sign, but I doubt there'll be a new one. So instead there could be a potion. W1 had Blizzard, and the idea was good, but the execution bad - making you travel slower is frustrating. So maybe a potion along the same lines; making Geralt all the more quicker. While traveling the potion will make you run faster. In combat it can either keep you just as fast, but if that proves a bit too difficult to play, maybe it can slow down everything besides Geralt, as Blizzard in W1 did. But only in combat.

I just got done playing dragon's dogma for the millionth time and damn it, I fucking love the action combat and flow of that game it is just perfect. It's easy to learn and really fun to play and watch such cool animations. I get to map my learned combat moves to whatever bottons I want, whenever I want. I wish for players like me
that TW3 will have at least this kind of real action style in combat as an option. Because it's so damn fun and it does not ever get old. I do not like strategy games. I just want to kick some fucking monster ass and finish the story so I can do it all over again and again and again, just like Dragon's Dogma NG+ :) Has anyone at CDPR ever even played Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen I wonder??? The only thing this game is missing is Geralt a huge better looking world with a better story and will be playing TW3 for many years to come.

Do you think we'll see Geralt climb rock walls, trees or low buildings?

Something similar to Assassin's Creed, but more true to the character.

A similar thing seems to me to be seen in the presentation of the first trailer for The Witcher.

What do you think?

It would be nice to see Geralt climbing a rock wall to find the lair of a monster hidden. Or seeing a creature follow the rooftops at night.

Climbing trees, to study a particular area or do ambushes from above.

It would make the gameplay very interesting, is not it?

I'd like for him to be able to climb some rocky cliffs and ledges, as well as vaulting over some low obstacles like fences and such, but I don't want to see him climbing and freerunning from trees to rooftops like Connor or Edward Kenway. Basically like in The Witcher 2, only without the need to look for the prompt.
