The first chapter is nearly unplayable. It happens /random/ when I walk around or Talk to somebody it hang and than these strange graphic bugs... when i Minimized the game and maximized the bugs are gone.In chapter 2 /the city/ there were only 1 bug all one hour... But the swaps are just like the first chapter. My first impression would be an overheating card . Check to see if dust buildup is a problem around the case fan , GPU and CPU fans and heatsinks and clean with compressed air if necessary .Could also be a driver issue check to make sure you have the latest available driversAre you overclocking your card . This sometimes creates issues like the one your seeing .Could also be a faulty card or Power supply Unit

I record the temps and evertime the temps get near the 70°C, bug apears and the temps fall to 60 or so ... Mhm I think 70°C is ok for a gpu ? i played cod with 74°C and nothing happend =/ my old 8800gtx overheated i had the same grafikbugs but in Teamfortress 2 =/ I "clean" my pc but i think it will not help =( And with my Power supply gedöns ... jeahr my card need 2x6 pin but i have only ? 2x 4pins ? but works great ... ?Nothing is overclocked and graka driver is the newest. But thx for the fast answer.Hand zum Gruß

Curious ...How are you running your video card if you have no power to the connection ?

Your PSU does have one 8 Pin EPS12V. Is it connected to another card? If no, that cable should be connected to your graphics card.Supported PSU for 9800 GTXhttp://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800gx2_pwr_supply.html

Are you sure that's a 9800 GTX? Is it possible that it's a 9800 GX2?The 9800 GTX has two 6-pin auxiliary power connectors. Only the 9800 GX2 has an 8-pin and a 6-pin connector. The 9800 GX2 is an SLI-on-a-card dual GPU. The reason I ask particularly about the GX2 is that some of your artifacts look like known problems that The Witcher has with SLI setups.

The cable with the 4 and 8 pin is to short to plug it in to the Mainboard and the card so i have to use the 2x6 pin =/I hope the Link works http://img824.imageshack.us/slideshow/webplayer.php?id=sdc10011fx.jpgand jep sure sure its an 9800gtx+ and not an 9800gx2... But all games working fine with the 6 pin i think thats not the problem =(Hand zum gruß

I see the 8-pin connector in the last image. All you need to do is cut the twist-tie surrounding the yellow and black cables. Do not cut any of the yellow and black cables. Once the twist-tie is cut, the 8-pin connector cable will be free and can reach your video card.

http://img.tomshardware.com/de/2007/01/15/stresstest_netzteile_2007/netzteil_chieftec_leitungen_big.jpgmhh no way the second cable with the 4 and 8 pin is waaaayy too short ... this thing isn't long enought, from the mainboard thing to the graka =/ I think the psu is not the problem. All other games work fine with only the 6 pin thing.Hand zum Gruß

yes, but if the card needs a 8pin and the power a 8pin delivers then that 6pin is not enough no matter what the others games do

According to your power supply specification, that 8-pin connector is the EPS12V connector. It is an auxiliary power supply connector for the motherboard (some motherboards have this style of connector), not any graphics card. It won't fit, but it's possible to force these connectors into sockets where they don't fit. If you try, you will get fireworks.Your power supply has two 6-pin PCI-e connectors; those are the only ones that you can plug into a graphics card.I'm not familiar with any 9800 GTX or GTX+ that has 8-pin auxiliary power, but some manufacturer may have set one up that way. The usual behavior of an nVidia card that sees a 6-pin connector when an 8-pin was expected is to complain and tell you that graphics performance will be reduced. You could try a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter, something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200420But none of that explains why your card performs well with other games but not with The Witcher.

There were video card issues in the past too that were only triggered in TW1, so no surprise here. Can you test if the game survives a >10 minutes long session of a dice game?
