Great news!should be good *crosses fingers* please be good *prays to the gods* I wasn't too struck on vanilla Witcher, so hopefully I'll finally be able to enjoy playing it.
True, thanks to the Bethesda hype-machine, people will be lining up to buy FO3 even if they've never even heard of Fallout.MetaDarkness said:But one thing is true, Fallout 3 is gonna screw over every other game that will foolishly relise itself at the same time, regardless of what Fallout 3 is gonna be... So your EE is screwed.
That is an inaccurate analogy. The Witcher wasn't a piece of bread. They gave you the whole sandwich, an ordinary, but surprisingly tasty, one. And they give you a coupon for a gourmet sandwich that you can redeem when they release it to the market after much rigorous taste-testing by their chefs/cooks/sandwich-making guys. Oblivion on the other hand was, thanks to marketing, presented as the ultimate gourmet-sandwich made with the finest ingredients (ie, beautiful graphics engine, completely voice acted, open-ended sandbox, tons of side-quests, etc). However, the sandwich turned out bland. Sure, they used top quality beef and organic veggies, but they forgot to add salt, pepper and all the little spices that make a sandwich good. Instead they had a gorgeous looking environment with hundreds of the ugliest looking NPCs ever, voiced by the same dozen actors, with a totally uninspired story/plotline. I could draw two dots and a smile on my left butt and it would look cuter than ANY NPC in Tamriel. Some of the mods I've seen have, thank god, improved on that aspect. But as with sandwiches, that is all a matter of taste. With The Witcher, I expected little and was surprised by its depth. With Oblivion, I expected a lot but ended up with bleh. I'm still hoping that FO3 won't be post-apocalyptic Oblivion because I loved the first two and would hate to see them ruin the franchise.PS. That analogy you gave about giving you the bread and coming back for the meat in a few months can be applied to Hellgate: London. Now THAT was a total waste of money. I'm, of course, speaking of the Southeast Asian version/servers.MetaDarkness said:You know, imagine you went to "Whatever food place" and ordered a sandwich, you got it but it turned out to be not that you ordered, it's still taste pretty good though, so you eat it and you are happy (That's Oblivion)... Now imagine that you got only piece of bread and they told you that you gonna have to comeback in a half a year to get the rest of the sandwich (That's Witcher to you)... Would you come back? Would you still be hungry for that sandwich after a year? Would you go to this place for food ever again? I don't see why everybody here is such a fanboys.... "Oh thank you Mr. CDPproject, thank you for finishing what had to be done in a first place... Thank you...[kissing feet]" WTH??? The only 2 games I know of: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Witcher that was thrown to the market in such a sad mess of a state. And the only victim is the customer...
Thanks, Brysiu!Brysiu said:CD Projekt RED would like to announce that the release date of The Witcher Enhanced Edition has been finally set. Consequently, the vastly improved edition of the acclaimed CD Projekt RED’s magnum opus has been set for the first half of September 2008. Setting the release date for September results from the requirement of polishing all ten language versions and releasing The Witcher Enhanced Edition in all languages at the same time. The Enhanced Edition by itself will be a deluxe one, containing a lot of additional content not available in the basic version of the game. The exclusive edition of The Witcher apart from the game dvd will also consist of a video dvd, a bonus materials dvd (among all D’jinni the adventure editor and 2 official adventures “The price of neutrality” and “Side effect”), the game soundtrack as well as a music cd with music inspired by the game. The new content and improvements will be available to registered users of the game free-of-charge.
I agree completely, including the plan to buy the EE when it comes out.kuddles said:It would have been enough for you guys to already have made what is one of my favourite RPGs of all time, not to mention making a great game with the kind of dynamic one-person combat and tough moral decisions that blows away the attempts of developers who have twice the budget for their games that you did.Now you took the time to reward the community who took a chance on getting your game by refining it, something that must have been very time-consuming and expensive and doesn't guarantee a huge increase in sales.I already own it, but your dedication is worth extra money. I already own a copy, but I'll be re-purchasing the Enhanced Edition anyways.
You run a risk paying 50 dollars for a new game. It isn't a car. If you were so worried about it, you should have waited before you paid for it. The price would have gone down AND you could have read reviews. Why are you hanging around the website and the forum if you're so angry about it, anyway? Kind of weird.MetaDarkness said:Sweet... now I have to wait another 3 months to be able to finaly play this broken and unfinished game... nice... And guess what else is coming out this Fall? Right, Fallout 3. Who will need your EE by that time?... Who will give me my 50$ back?
You are so whiny...you bought a game and didn't get what you wanted. You could have turned around and sold it EASILY on ebay and maybe only been out 5-10 dollars. It isn't anyone's fault but yours that you bought a brand new game and didn't do enough research to know what to expect. You have every right not to like it, but what do you expect? Do you expect the store you got it at to take it back, assuming you didn't copy it? Do you expect CD Projekt to repay everyone who isn't totally happy with their game? I think maybe you either didn't do your research, or you let too much of the hype get to you, because I honestly do think it was one of the most original RPGs I ever played, even with the loading times.MetaDarkness said:No I just wanted to through my money away on a game I did not wanna play... :MetaDarkness said:and you wanted to play the game?[/URL] cause i surely don't see any of your posts about the game itselfAnd why would I post about the game itself if I did not play through it??? I played for about 4 hours, got to this first settelment (by that time I was 70% fed up by bugs, crashes, voice acting and crappy combat already), went to the bar start a fist fight, which controls and looks even worse than regular combat, then I won and saw this jumping-staring at the wall animation (85%) then I went outside and saw NPC that was just killed by the dogs and then a waitress I just saw in a bar (for some reason she had a different attitude this time (no wonder it was a different person))... I said WTF... and then I saw a fatman, and another fatman and some more fatman... And then I said ****** this game (100%)...

God why do I get myself into this?... Well, the questions exist so they can be answered... And it seems you got very nervous over my words, so let me help you to relax.First you'll need to re-read my posts for comprehension. Do it twice just to be sure... If you succeed, you'll see that I never said that Witcher was a bad game, I said it has many technical and gameplay issues due to the rushed release of the game (which was addmited by the developers themselfs, so there is no need for you to play around and try to prove me wrong... They would not need EE if that was not the case). You will also see that I read reviews and watched the videos about the game before I bought it, "somehow" :Sparrowhawk said:You run a risk paying 50 dollars for a new game. It isn't a car. Oh I am sorry, that was so-o-o my fault, you right.... You know what, at least I learned something. From this day on I gonna do research on everything I buy. Because "they" have every right to sell unfinished products but it's only my own fault if I did not check before I bought. Went in a pizza place... got a pizza... no cheese on a pizza... did not do research before I paid ... MY faulf!!!...eat pizza with no cheese...OH WAIT!!! I can turn around and sell this pizza with no cheese to this gentlemen with no shirt for just half a price!!! WOOHO!!! go me... Of cause I do not expect the store I got this pizza with no cheese at to take it back (such blasphemy!!!!Sparrowhawk said:You are so whiny...you bought a game and didn't get what you wanted. Check your [Caps Lock] boy.I have no interest in further discussion and waist of my time. It's going OFF topic anyway...Sparrowhawk said:[No, he doesn't want help, he just wants to be a troll. this is not enough, or it might be enough for 800x600, LOW, all features OFF, and then it will work, but badly, or not work at all2) according to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com test, i passed the minimum system requirements to be able to run this game. i failed the recommended system requirements since my cpu's (dual core) clock speed is only 1.6ghz (the required is 2.13ghz); my RAM is only 1gb; and my video card is a different kind NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS (GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS) although its features are ok
your CPU might be ok, but you'll need a nVidia 7600GS atleast until you get to chapter 3, then if you don't want to lower your settings you must upgrade to a 8600GT ( that's what i did )i can't do something about my cpu with my limited budget but i will try to upgrade my RAM and videocard if necessary...can you suggest any cheap nvidia graphics card that can match the recommended kind?
2x1Gb will be faster if your motherboard knows about Dual-Channel memory ( and since it could be pretty new, it might know it )3) which do you think is faster (2sticks of 1gb RAM) or (1stick 2gb RAM)?
not really, not for The Witcher anywayand in case you missed it there is a Demo available that contains the Prologue and Chapter I ( at about 90% of game content ) so that you can see if the game works4) if i upgrade to 3gb RAM, will it make any difference?
Everything, and I mean everything that EE contains will be available for free download for every registered user. It's all written in the news.blakafrika said:I was wondering if for those, like me, who are strapped for cash if there was anyway for the extras from this one to be made into a patch for existing owners of the game? ;D
Lol I feel like an idiot. Thanks for telling me. ;DDaerdin said:Everything, and I mean everything that EE contains will be available for free download for every registered user. It's all written in the news.
