There’s a difference between being “a good adaptation” and “a good adaptation” though. Meaning, something inspired by another work might be considered good on its own but when viewed from and compared with the original work it might fall flat. In the case of Game of Thrones I’ve been told by fans of the books that the TV series, while being nicely done, isn’t really all that great of an adaptation in being faithful to the books. I haven’t read them so I can’t comment on that but I feel the same about The Walking Dead.
