The witcher vs NWN (system wise)

had no idea where to ask so figure this communty could answer my question. Will my computer play The Witcher EE.My specs are XP, PEN 4 253 GH, 1 GB Ram, ATI 9600 pro 128. ( I know it is not offical, but here some who can play with it)The reason I ask here is because my PC can play NWN 2 with every thing off or set to the lowest execp Draw Distance which is set at half way, Texture which is set on Medium and Resoultion which is set at 1024 by 768.I figure a lot of people who play The witcher would give The NWN2 a try as well.Thank you for any advice. Thought of purchasing 2 more GBs if that would make a huge difference and maybe a newer budget video card like the gefore 8600 gt If it does not blow up my pc. but will be happy if it at least works on what i have now since i have a 3 yr old and christimas is coming

Take a close look at the video card list in that link. The 8500 is in the 'Borderline Cards' section. Do yourself a favor: if you decide to get a new video card, don't go for a budget card or a crappy non-gaming video solution. Choose something at least halfway decent. It's worth the extra money.

NWN2 is older than The Witcher and was built with a differing approach to the graphics, no matter that the engine was the same. The 9600 card's architecture is now five years old, and has only the SM2 level of pixel shaders from Dx9; its useful life is long since over with. Do yourself a favor, and put the poor suffering creature out of its misery. Incidentally, I didn't see where the 8500 got involved here (yes, I think I do, after all). The 8600 GT is a different animal, and fairly decent, all things considered. It is not available for any video bus other than PCIe, and the best current nVIDIA card for AGP is the 8500 GT. AMD offers far better coverage of AGP than nVIDIA does, but even the AMD HD 3650 may require more of a power supply than what your PC has. That's always a problem upgrading an old PC.

download 3Dmark and submit your results. You'll be able to compare the requirements by your score to see if you'll be able to run the game or not. if you buy a new graphics card, buy a EVGA care if you're looking for single core. EVGA is having a special where you register and when its time to cash in a new card, they'll match you the price you paid for it for a new card. So its like paying for 2 cards at once.

Thank you for all you replys.....The wikki thing seems like it says it will play but why bother. Kiwi you have said many insighful thing which makes me think i should hold out and buy a new computer next year or if it comes out on the Xbox360 like all the rumors say then get that instead. I hate to leave my coputer to become a consol player but an xbox is so much cheaper than a video gaming cpu.
