[Sard Edit: I've changed the title to answer a much asked question here. No preorders yet.]

I've started seeing CP2077 codes being sold on popular game sites, but will the game be available to buy on Steam in the future? I would really like to play it on Steam.

Placeholder, or fake.
Official preorders have not been announced.

Closing this, and probably merging too.

Edit: Official confirmation from the Discord server:

If I recall correctly, it was said earlier this year on a conference that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be GOG exclusive. But there is probably still more than a year until release, so it may be somewhat early for the topic of pre-orders. They will most likely become available once an actual release date is announced.

I could see CDPR doing a GOG.com-exclusive pre-order promo-thingie though, like it was done just recently with Phantom Doctrine.

Yeah, it's a bit too early to talk about preorders. We'll see what happens once the release is near.

There are no preorders yet. From the Dev Answers thread:

Are there official preorders anywhere yet?

June 18/18 Lilayah: "There are no official preorders just yet."

Cyberpunk 2077 does not yet have a release date and is currently in development, but you can download it now through Amazon for 20 percent off.

Apparently, we can download CP2077 already via Amazon.

Back to the topic, having place-holder pre-orders are common practices nowadays. After the E3 announcement, suddenly almost all mentioned games got a pre-order option. I wouldn't think much about it.

I pre-ordered it a while back, have you guys? What is the correlation between pre-order numbers and sales? Is it 1/3? Cause if we know the numbers we can roughly predict sales.

I'd wager the percentage of preorders fluctuates quite a bit between different development studios.

No official preorders yet (placeholders/fakes do exist, but promoting those is not a good idea), which makes this thread pointless. Closing.

"Placeholder" pre-orders for unannounced games are not uncommon, however, these are not official.
