There is a sign missing...

I recently read the two Witcher books that have been translated into english, and I now have noiced something about the games: The sign of the Heliotrope is missing. Why is this? It would have been extremely useful when fighting Azar Javed in the first game, and every single combat mage in the second.

The heliotrope sign is the mage tree adrenaline ability, so it is in the second game (though in a different way than the other signs). I don't know why it wasn't in the first Witcher, but from just reading the same books that you have it wasn't immediately clear to me what the sign actually does... meaning that if that isn't clarified in other books, CDProjekt Red had to come up with an own interpretation.

EDIT:http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Heliotrop_sign. Seems it's a sign against magic, and quen would have been a sign against physical damage only. So I guess they could have implemented it this way, but maybe they felt that with the amount of enemy mages in the first game it wouldn't really add a lot of gameplay? Then again, Quen was pretty worthless in that game as well...

Also, Heliotrope made it in TW1 with the FCR mod: http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23165-tw1-mod-full-combat-rebalance-fcr-version-16/page__view__findpost__p__738337

Oh. I never realized it was there. I just got so frustrated in the first game when I couldn't block Azar Javed's magic attacks. Also, I am almost done with TW2, so I'm probably going to start up another game of TW1 with that mod now...

Let me just vouch for the awesomeness that is FCR; the addition of the Heliotrope sign is a great nod to the source material, and it has been very nicely integrated into the game. Whether you care about the sign or not, playing TW1 with FCR is a revelation all on its own.
