Hello, I am fairly new to PC gaming and I wanted to get my hand on a copy of the Witcher 2 for my new gaming laptop. I went to Ebay to try and find a cheap copy. I came across a vender who was selling a GOG.com digital version of the game. I thought this meant he would give me a code to download it from there. But he sent me instruction and links to download and .iso file of the game and a vitrual drive cloner. I don't know much about games but to me this seems like a pirated version of the game, and if it is I want to file a complaint on the vendor.

If it is not an illegal copy can you please help me get it to work. I haven't got installation to work yet. After mounting the game to the drive and attempting to open the setup,a window comes up stating checking file integrity. That window freezes and when I skip it a window comes up asking to let te file make changes to my computer, i then press ok. Another checking integrity window comes up, freezes, then I skip. After I skip for the second time a window comes up saying incorrect function and the entire process is aborted.

Well, it's clearly an illegal copy. There's no right to resell the GOG edition, and no legitimate package of that edition as an ISO image. You could start by reporting the vendor who sold you the game and the sites you got the virtual drive software and the ISO image to eBay and to CDPR tech support.

The "checking file integrity" dialog is normal for a GOG edition. So is the "make changes to your computer" dialog. But then it breaks trying to read the files from the ISO image. "Incorrect function" normally means the (in this case, virtual) drive malfunctioned, or the image is unreadable.

I tried reporting illegal game sellers on there, ebay will only act if your from the company who made it or law enforcement not users. Best thing to do is as Second mentioned give the details so can forward to CDPR to deal with them.

Thanks guys for the help. I am not one to snitch, but it is ridiculous that a person looking for a legit copy is sold a pirated version. I mean if I wanted a pirated version I would have pirated it myself for free!!! And I can't believe some scum is out there trying to make money from a selling pirated versions. Just makes me sick.

Just got an email today from ebay and paypal and I have been refunded! I hope things are going well on CD Projekt Red's side of this!

It looks like illegal copy, indeed. Anyway, I passed this case to the right person.
For the future I recommend to buy games from reliable sellers
