Theres a new video about it...

"Sweeney Todd" ? "Oliver Twist"...? Hand me the bucket, I need to throw up.... So lucky the IP is in good hands... :p

Kinda wish they'd have created another Deus Ex game to be honest.

This is a different team in EM, not the same guys who made DEHR.

And yeah, that video is just abysmal. What hope I had, shriveled away. Why are they talking about taking direction/inspiration from games like Assassin's Creed or Bioshock? Dishonored I can somewhat understand, but even that makes no sense, as Dishonored itself was inspired by Thief so now the new Thief gets to be inspired by a game which was inspired by its (Thief's) previous incarnations.

Why can't they just simply take the best of the first three Thief games and just improve upon it further? Why must there always be a wider audience?

They're really trying to smooth over the Dishonored controversy. And they'll be doing it a long time because it's not just the same genre as they say, it's damn near the same flavor, mood, setting, aesthetic - everything. Coincidence or not, this game will be in Dishonored's shadow which is more than a little ironic.

Is that definite? I'm sure I read articles/interviews after Missing Link that said the team were moving on to a different franchise, which was generally assumed to be Thief 4.

Dishonored controversy? I seem to have missed on that, since everyone loved it.
Besides you're right, looking at the current images the first thin which came into my head was 'Dishonored?' and thinking that was inspired by thief lol

I'm liking it less and less with every new piece of info they reveal.

"Like Hitman: Absolution's Instinct ability, Focus is Thief's way of letting the player navigate the environment and get out of combat encounters. Focus highlights interactive objects, pipes you can climb and candles that can be extinguished. Focus can also stun or kill enemies, depending on how much is used in combat. Bones crack like in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films or Sniper Elite V2

I did not like Absolution that much. I tried, too.

Damn.

I loved Absolution, fan/playing Hitman since the first game!

well coming here, if it makes you folks feel any better, seldom trust destructoid, they are really terrible. I've notice that on many occasions, bad posting.

You...loved Absolution. As a long time Hitman fan. After playing Blood Money, where freedom was the rule. Huh. Well, that's weird. And you liked that moronic superpower they gave him? A conversation for another thread perhaps. ANYway.

Destructoid doesn't spark any "totally unreliable" memories for me. Do you have any examples or just a general feeling ?

The article is a quote from another magazine - Game Informer. https://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/03/05/april-cover-revealed-thief.aspx

Yup, if it was just destructoid, I wouldn't be worried, but they're quoting direct from a GI interview.
Still crying...

Oh, is that the spattering from above? I thought it was frying pig bits. Guess I'll stop salivating now.

Or..maybe not. *wink*

Can't say I'm too optimistic about it either. They seem to be saying all the wrong things.

Reading comprehension fail. The rain of frying pig bits will commence only when pigs learn how to fly. I have absolutely no idea what that spattering is - I'm not hovering in mid-air over you at the moment.

Thread crossover....

That xbox rumor is a dubious one. MS would be shooting themselves in the foot going that route. And as for CDPR doing it...when pigs can fly.

Anyway, do we have an absolute confirmation yet that the Thief team is NOT the team that should be working on the latest Deus Ex?
