Ok I just stumbled in this, and even if I feel the comparison isn't fair for many reasons , I still feels this is a good table to let game design know what a game should do, especially when it's open world and based on an RPG (to be considered a videogame and not a graphic novel like games from Supermassive Games , that btw , never hide the will to make Movies out of their games and I freacking love their games, also because they are long enough, and actually give different ways to end it, like in the case of Untill Dawn or Little Hope, -> Men of Medan was a little under tone but that's just me).
I'm not saying CP77 should do everything that a game with massive balls like RDR2 does in the Western era, but the idea of what's missing in CP77 as an open world RPG is there, as a reminder of what RDR2 does (that it's not an RPG if you want but comes out in being a GREAT rpg after all and ALSO a GREAT MOVIE AND STORY)
Edit: This list isn't exaustive, at all, RDR2 does so many things you can't possibly list them in a single screenshot
That table is stupid. the game has more than half of the thing this table says. all that is a table of rdr2 content with yes next to rdr2 and no next to cyberpunk 2077 i bet you the guy that made this table never even played the game in the first place.

Cdprojekt I bought your game with all the hype in the world. You show us different trailers and teasers to create a fake illusion of what this game would look in release.

I really lose the hope in the company. The hope that you give me after I play Witcher 3. I have to say Witcher 3 blown my mind, with a really well write and managed story.

Then you decided to combine Witcher 3 with a shooter in a future world. But you forgot to add a proper enemy AI , it seems you take the sword wichter 3 combat system and copy/paste in CP 2077. After more than 40 hours of game, with 31 levels and 50 reputation I quit the game, and hope you will rework important stuff in the future. Because it's just boring man, I just headshot everyone and playing in the maximun level of difficulty... I just feel like I am shoting at Boxing bags in the head every time... there is not a single spark of difficulty.

If you don't make this game better, either because you don't have the necessary knowledge or because you are not able to do that, I hope you enjoy the last 60€ I gave to you.

I have play several shooters games and this single game shooter is far the worst shooter I played in terms of mechanics, tactical AI behaviour and difficulty. (Don't get me wrong, the architecture, design environment, character design, all this stuff is gorgeous, but just feel empty because of a disaster AI)

I have been a fan of CD projekt for more than 5 years, and I tried man,I bought this game in release and i tried and play and get some fun... but at the end, it feels very empty because of this retarded combat system. You disappoint me guys, I had a lot of faith in you, I think that was my biggest mistake.

Now as someone who only based my expectations off things that were shown in the gameplay trailers as actual possible gameplay options/possibilities, the game is fine. I have around 50 hours. This post is NOT about the technical/performance issues. that deserves its own thread and there is plenty of them.
But Lets face it, this is not the RPG a lot of us hoped for. it appears that a lot has been removed and the world interactivity and AI just feels bland.
I have been somewhat a fanboy over the last few months and had very strong faith in CDPR, but I'm certainly not a blind follower... This game has let me and a lot of others down in the RPG side of things. They either got overwhelmed with their original plan and scrapped elements to make the date, or its due to them settling for a more cinematic experience halfway through and went with the "Action/Adventure" tag that it is now touted as.

Feel free to add anything else that I've missed or that other games (some over a decade old) have done or done better.
I don't believe these are ridiculous requests or expectations for and RPG
  • Character creation = Huge let down. don't deny it. and this isn't even me having huge expectations. Basic RPGs have had greater variety. No body sliders even JUST for things like making your character thinner, fatter or more jacked? I mean c'mon. Even GTA SA let you get jacked. it seems like they really focused on trivial things to build hype(looking at you genital customisation), rather than meaningful stuff that really lets you make your character an individual and like yourself.
  • Getting new Cyberware is Severely underwhelming. Changing out bodyparts and literally giving up parts of your humanity and body is like swapping out a mod on a gun. *click* and thats it, only cutscenes we got were for the Palm and eye upgrades which were part of the story. Cmon, not even a small cut scene that then fades to black?
  • No Barber? No Tattoo parlour? Give me a break. No change to your character after leaving the character creation is a joke. for a game that is all about creating your own merc and body modding being so prevalent in NC, it does not feel that way.
  • No colour modding of your clothing. Found a cool Trench coat? No worries! but you've gotta have it in Fluro pink!!!
  • No Finishers in combat??? we really immersive things like the ground cracking when you fall from height (really cool too) but cant add finishers to combat? only ones I've seen is 2 with a Katana and that is it. Skyrim, The Chronicles of Riddick (Old AF now) even The Witcher 3 had combat finishers with Weapons and hand to hand combat. especially with Melee and hand to hand combat being such a big thing, you'd think they'd have added this
  • Where are the mini-games? Wheres the BD's? its a story continuation tool and thats it. i mean what happened to going into a bar and doing some cool mini activities those kinds of places?
  • Where is the Adult content? there are barely any options for Joy toys (abysmal tb), no drugs? i dont need this stuff but the option is nice and adds to the atmosphere.
  • The absolute lack of romance options, it seems they went for quality over quantity perhaps but cmon, Dragon Age, Mass effect etc had more. truly disappointing
  • You cant interact with people aside from the Vendors, you cant even sit down at a chair and take in the world? NOTHING is interactive.
  • Key Bindings are a disgrace. I'm sure most of you already know this. how many times have you ruined stealth because of that dodge mechanic?
  • Dynamic world my a**. Mass numbers of NPC’s doesn’t make your world alive. Having them do unique things and responding to the world accordingly does. No ambulance for the injured, no fire trucks for fires, Police... don’t even get me started on the disgrace that is the Police AI.
They specifically stated in the 48 minute deep dive there would be a silly amount (cant remember the number but was close to 1000) of Hand crafted daily routines for these NPC's. There is not.
  • No police chases? Police Spawning out of thin air? Maxtac spawn out of thin air with No AV's like the teaser? again dont get me started on the Police system, my god how embarrassing.
  • NPC’s in general just don’t react to you accordingly Depending on what you do. shoot in an Open area? no worries! everyone crouch!. It really does seem like CDPR really settled on having quantity of NPC’s over quality. I’d turn down the NPC crowd density in an instant if it meant greater variety and enabled better AI for more a more “alive” city.
  • Police rarely say thank you for intervening and SAVING their lives in gang shootings.
  • No karma/good & bad system, meaning a lot of choices mean Jack all especially when it comes to the way NPC's react to you i mean even Fallout characters reacted to you accordingly if you were a bad guy. Your characters “character” is borderline predetermined
  • The clothing system is broken. Cowboy hates, Short denim shorts and Corset's end up being your best armour, while an Arasaka bullet proof vest is useless. Really takes you out of the world.
Yes I know you can upgrade clothing to keep the stuff you want to be the best, but some Transmog would be nice
  • Gear has no levels? I'm sorry but have i missed something? unless you are under the required level you cant see what level the gear actually is and its super annoying. it would be nice to be able to just take a glance at something and see if its a lower level and Bam scrapped.
  • Cant pick up thrown knives.... god man..
As I said, I have around 50 hours now and enjoy it. But if I were expecting it to be the RPG and "Truly special game" that CDPR claimed they had... boy am I disappointed. It seems they got caught up in their own hype and thought "omg the public is going insane over rumoured Genital customisation put that in put that in!" but forgot that you still need the basics. I'm sorry but this game doesn't really do anything new.

There are a lot more immersion breaking and disappointing mechanics I just cant be bothered to list but honestly the game truly does seem half baked and unfinished. It reeks of placeholders and things that have been cut last minute to make the game playable for release. Somewhere along the lines things changed from RPG to "Action/Adventure" and it was seriously streamlined. And don't be fooled, this has hurt it badly. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim and Mass effect remain untouched as immersive RPG's at this stage in MY OPINION.
Cheers

How how!?! How can 6 years of development end up with a linear shooter looter game with less features then other shooter looter games? How did this happen!?! RDR 2 had 6 years and they freaking made a great game! And yet cyberpunk has way less features then RDR2. HOW!?!

And stop calling this game an RPG it is not an RPG.

It is an RPG. It's not anymore barebones than Witcher 3 for example. You have about as many stats that affect your character by at least the same amount as in W3. Even more so when it comes to gameplay I'd say. The "role" in RPG is based on weapon types, suitable distances for them and stealth vs non-stealth. Plus the use of cyberware of course. Over 50h in CP77 I see and feel a lot more changes based on how I've leveled up than I ever did at the point where I finished The Witcher 3.

Also - you can' even begin to compare CP to RDR2 and complain about scope and features. RDR2 had over a thousand people working on it. CP about 400.

Oh God. OP first of all Skyrim is trash if you compare to Witcher games, RDR is not rpg and most stuff you want is action games or hardcore old-school RPG. Thanks but I like CP2077 the way it is. All it needs is polish. PC version is Hot 🔥

Skyrim is so trash tons of people are still playing it, and making mods for it.
The replayability of Skyrim is probably one of the best of all video game, can't say the same for cyberpunk right now !
Once you finish main story of cyberpunk you can't even keep playing it..

1200+ hours on skyrim while 100+ on TW3. I have finished both. I can say this:
-Want an action game casual RPG with very good story and 36 finals? Go for TW3
-Want an old buggy game with shitty storytelling&combat but COMPLETE freedom/character customization/better lore/infinitely immense/wonderlust/infinite playstiles/quest joining/vampire&werewolf choice/REAL RPG game? Go for Skyrim

The problem is, people have to understand that there's no such a thing as "old-school RPG". An RPG is a Role Playing Game, which means that you play WHATEVER ROLE you want to be. CP2077 is an Action RPG, which means it has some dumbed-down RPG features but TW3 is NOT an RPG. Is God of War an RPG? No. Is Spiderman an RPG? No.

RPG key features MUST allow you to choose between:
-Class system (in primis, but the "how" you can choose differs the RPG component strength)
-Character Customization (looks, guild joining, combat style, skills, class, personality, race)
-Loot&gear
-Romances
-Housebuilding
-Fight approach
-Difficulty scaling system
-Lore
These are the basics for an RPG. The CHOICE between these things. If you can't choose either you're playing a "tunnel-game" (The last of us series) or you're playing an action game.

Furthermore, "Skyrim is trash if you compare to TW series" is a total declaration of ignorance. Skyrim lets you do infinitely more interesting things compared to TW3 if you know how to play it. Imagine this: you went on a very hard adventure, and you just returned to your home, build and fully personalized by you. You meet again with your housecarl, wife, children. They go out and play. You decide to recover a little, so you sit next to the hearth, grab a book which speaks of how the oblivion crisis hit the Aldmeri Dominion, and start imagining the desperation of their people when thinking about their lack of the very known "Hero of Kvatch". What could have saved those anciet and powerful people from the Oblivion forces? Surely some local heroes showed up to fight...

And that's how I've spent my 1200+ hours on that trash.
Do NOT call trash if the mere, guided, pre-built/scripted storytelling is more important than freedom/lore/roleplay. Just say that you did not have the culture/mindset to enjoy/even think about that.

I mean, Skyrim really is trash. It's made playable by mods. In fact, Cyberpunk 2077 gives me the same feel as Skyrim, where I had great fun for about the first ten hours then realised how lonely and superficial the world is outside of the main quest. Luckily for Cyberpunk, there's more production value to the main quests and there's at least a handful of characters with depth but it needs more life in the world at large. It needs Interesting NPCs mod for cyberpunk, basically...deep side stories with lots of roleplay dialogues.

Perfectly summarises my experience with Skyrim as well.
And then after spending many hours modding the game and getting it all to work it dawned on me;

Even with all the mods in the world, it's still a barren, desolate game. No amount of polish can fill that void. It needs to be developed properly, like RDR2 was.

I disagree, I actually really enjoyed vanilla skyrim. Free-roaming and finding things with actual story you can just stumble into, and not have everything you stumble into be 3-15 angry dudes with loot you have to take from their dead bodies really gave that game longevity.

Mods were just a cherry ontop. It wasn't a deep masterpiece or anything but it was FUN. I made dozens of characters and I think I could make dozens more in skyrim, despite its shallowness. I can tell you that I beat Cyberpunk once and I already don't really feel like playing any more of it unless they really do their homework and make it so there's more polished parts than just the (mediocre) main story.

Skyrim's story was pretty mediocre and forgetable, but it's the fact they built a whole interactive world around it that saved that game. I think CP77 should strive to do the same.

Skyrim is a weak RPG but a true RPG
Witcher 3 is action adventure RPG hybrid
RDR 2 is also an action adventure RPG hybrid but it utilizes its RPG element well to make it's adventure core more rewarding
Cyberpunk 2077 is also such a hybrid

It's in no way a true RPG and it never was intended to be one. I always expected a fleshed out story with fleshed out characters and some good side quests while other systems of the game are going to be in the background, just like in witcher. And that's how this game indeed is.

Problem is with people's expectations albeit I can't blame them. CDPR advertised the game as if it was going to be second coming of christ and then after 8 years they made a mediocre game with a good but short story in a detailed gorgeous but not so believable world.

It's game development industry. It happens to every studio... Especially to studios as large as CDPR.

EDIT: I don't like that people are comparing things to skyrim when they are comparing RPG games. Isn't it better to just bring up morrowind if it's going to be a tes game? That game is an enjoyable rpg with so many things going on for it's gameplay. Plus the story is outstanding.

I spent 6-7 years waiting for this game. Literally on the day it came out and it flopped, the Mass Effect 4 teaser was released. Now I'm waiting for that game.

I feel like all I do anymore as a gamer is wait on good games that end up being mediocre.

ME4 better be amazeballs or so help me.

It makes sense when you realise over 60% of the staff that worked on The WItcher 3 and new the games engine code well all left afterwards due to a garbage/Toxic workplace environment
