kind of wish CDPR stuck to what they were good at, instead of trying to hard to pander to the casual crowd, the game would have sold well based on hype regardless, a game's content hardly matters for it sales, it's all about marketing.

I can't take this post seriously. At all. Not only that it makes little to no sense when you speak about the lack of attention to detail, when it fact this game is full of little and enormous details (hence why this thread exists), it's also laughable.

Oh here's another thing that I thought was amazing... I was riding around velen somewhere am west of Oxenfurd by the river crossings to Novigrad and encountered this group of slavers and bandits with a guy locked in a cage.

So I dismount and fight the bandits off hacking and slicing through them, anyway fights over and I begin looting the pace and free the merchant etc. I pick up this letter close to the cage and it reads something like "hey honey jobs going real good, we got a merchant, after this job I'll be able to come home and we can finally get married. Tell the ma and pa I miss them, tell the kids I'll be bringing home lots of treats like apples. I miss you love whatever. P.S. I'm still wearing the red scarf you made for me, it reminds me of you, love you." Something along those lines.

Anyway I back out of the inventory and then I see it, one of the bandits on the ground, arm cut off, covered in blood, wearing a red scarf... Rarely has a game made me feel like that, I thought to myself "why the fuck didn't you just run bro!" Yeah... Shit got real...

It's hard for a game to make you feel anything really, very few games ever reach that level of story telling... But yeah I genuinely felt remorse. It's crazy, if you just immerse yourself in the game it's a much more impactful experience.

The Red Baron quest line. Best quest line ever for many reasons: the emotion, the depths of each cahracters, their motivations, the harsh truth about life, love and drunkeness. Epic.

Also, saving someone from monsters and later on discovering he's a scum bag of the worst kind.

and then you can read a letter from dead body that he killed innocent merchant who went to big city for the first time...
I felt heavy burden of my past decisions. It was very intense feeling, almost like IRL.

1. The rare moments when I feel like I'm actually good at the combat, it looks so fluid and badass!

2. The whole Bloody Baron questline, main and side quests included. I kept thinking about my choices for hours after quitting the game.
I freed the tree spirit which might not have been the wisest decision, but at least I've found the orphans (along with a note of their admission) at Marabella's school in Novigrad, that was a heartwarming moment for me.
The quests in general are just brilliant in this game. They're much better than TW2's quest, even, which I did not expect since the game is now open-world.

3. Walking in the streets of Novigrad in the sunset or at dawn. The outskirts are beautiful as well.

The previous games had small simple things that really aided verisimilitude, that were removed from this one. I don't know if I can simplify my point any further for you, hopefully you understand it now.

What do those things have to do with 'attention to detail' at all, if you don't my asking?

1. No drinking/eating animation: as much I'd like to have them, it's a decision made by CDPR to make the gameplay more fluid, it has nothing to do with the "lack of attention to detal".
2. No dice poker: again, I'd love to have it, but we now have Gwent instead, how is that any less than dice poker?
3. Auto-refill: It would be a pain in the ass if I had to search for herbs all the time in a game this huge, I'd probably end up not using potions at all, or just using Swallow. (maybe I'm casual)
4. Horse can teleport: Really, what's the problem with that? Sure, chasing after Roach on foot, no matter how far she might be, is fun.

The topic is about moments when you think something is GREAT, so let's not derail it further.

Plenty of topics to complain in, feel free to post there.

That moment when you're fighting a foe that truly deserves to be punished and you get the beheading finisher. Outside of combat I love the stormy windy rainy nights.

Had that happen last night. A bandit group started yelling down the slope where I was, "Kill if you love the GODS!!!" or something similar. I killed the first few easily, but the leader was a tough ol' bird, and he kept calling out and taunting. I am using the Trial of Grasses skill set tree, which slows time if the enemy is about to counter-attack. My timing was better than his, and his head took flight and landed quite a ways away. That was epic enough for me, but it was what the bandit did just a moment before that was really the clincher.

We had been fighting a while. He was tough. The Trial of Grass isn't a particularly powerful trait in the early stages, but nearing the end of the fight now, we attacked each other. The devs set it up so just at the moment before he was decapitated, he screamed. He must have seen his doom at the edge of my sword, a Life Flashing Before Your Eyes moment. Combined with the trait Trial of Grass because time was slowed down, his scream was prolonged, and only completed after his head was lopped off and flying in the air. Epic! That was great detail to have added.

I was near a bandit camp, and started attacking them. Then I noticed (with help of the great sound effects) I was actually standing near a bees nest. I dodged the bandit attack and got away from the tree to burn the nest with Igni. I used the sign only to realize I accidentaly had switched to Aard.
And then it happened. The Aard effect poked the bees out of their nest and they started to prey on the closest victim : the bandit attacking me. He dropped his sword down and started running away trying to get rid of the insects with his hands on his head.
I'm still amazed by such a love for little details. It's the small things that make this game so exceptionnal.

You even get an achievement by using the environment to kill foes, bees, barrels, etc.

When male NPCs fart and laugh afterwards. I was in Baron's keep the first time it happened, burst out laughing.

Yep, now I am going to make a statement, I have been playing games going back to the old Atari 2600 days, Commodore 64, IBM 8088's, the beginning of gaming as we know it. In that time I am guessing I have played Hundreds if not Thousands of games probably closer to Thousands on all types of Platforms,Atari, Apple,PC, Sega Megadrive, PS1,PS2,PS3,PS4, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 1 . I can safely say that I have NEVER played a game that is not only Highly Addictive, but as Remarkable as The Witcher 3, and this is on the PS4 version too. This game is ground-breaking, it sets a totally new standard for all RPG's to come, heck all gaming to come! The attention to detail is amazing, each area I visit feels unique and is full of interesting quests, storylines and creatures. The graphics for the PS4 are simply amazing, the day/night/weather lighting and effects have me stopping every 10 steps to take another screenshot, I am simply in Awe of what CDPR have managed to create with this Masterpiece.

Kudo's CDPR you have every right to be incredibly proud of W3 and thankyou for all years of Hard work and dedication, you have made an old-school gamer extremely happy !

My son walked in as I was sailing towards a beautiful, orange sunset. He commented on how good the game looked, and then asked if the boat went any faster.
I told him, "Why would I want to do that..."

Enjoying the view . . . Trees, grass, flowers, etc, On this particular occasion no corpses littering the roadside or strung up to the nearest tree. Simply stunning scenery augmented by the terrific lighting which naturally changes throughout the day.

Then I heard it - A CUCKOO - Took me right back to my childhood. Grew up and still live in the country but you simply don't hear them anymore. Too rare.

Just fantastic, made me feel very nostalgic.

I think when I walked into Novigrad for the first time I couldn't believe how big it was, I still haven't figured my way around completely and I've played 78 hours.

Another great thing is thinking about my next play through before I finish the first one knowing it will be a whole other experience. Currently playing on Blood and Broken Bones, definitely doing Death March for my 2nd play through.

After the first fight against ghouls with Vesemir, I mounted Roach, and before I trotted anywhere, I just looked around at the miles of beautiful countryside, and I thought to myself "wow, where should I go?"

There are some great moments and things to hear if you listen to NPC's. Walking through the Bloody Baron's place and hear two guards saying the lines from Pulp Fiction about waking up the gimp was hilarious.

Yep that is the best way to experience W3, slowly, this is why I rarely Fast-Travel unless it is an area I have already explored as part of a quest, and I actually very rarely use Roache, I prefer to walk/run to experience the incredible scenery that each different area offers!
