Recently I read about someone in Japan that has spent literally over a year realtime exploring a game.
You may not think that is ____________ but why not create a world where one could & be engaged continuously?
I'm on foot a lot in everything I've played before.
It would definitely be an area of game design that I think can be improved
I suggest density become secondary to "Ambience"
Think of Ambience like a country
It has as many states as you imagine
Those states could be hungry or angry or meh or??
What would put people in those states
State = library of possibilities that can be updated easily
What could effect a state?
Weather, time of day = another library
I'd also start building a library of random sounds like a cough or a sneeze or ...
I'd also do motion capture someone sneezing third person as an example
It struck me as instead of putting a mod on a weapon put the "weapon" in a mod
Say like "Ambience"
Wildlife, landscape, crowd sounds that aren't the same
I hear concerns about memory but how much memory does a library of possibilities involve
How easy it would be to update, possibly speeding up DLC
AI would be ideal because it is the boss when it comes to noticing patterns & generating randomness
I think AI could solve some of those memory issues
I could be wrong
Utilizing a system like this could be a game changer
Something about longtail comes to mind
Thanks for reading
