Once you throw the knife, you've gotta go into your menu, go into your inventory screen, click a weapon slot, click a different tab to get to melee, equip the knife, exit the inventory screen, exit the menu, then re-equip the knife to throw another... And you lose the knife.

I'm not saying fire whoever greenlit and allowed that perk....but maybe make them play through the entire game with nothing but an endless supply of knives and nothing else.

Was literally just about to post about this- not to mention Knives are both expensive and hard to find. Should get a cheap throwing knife schematic at least.

Talk about a waste of a skill point in the early game.

I'm wondering if there is a bug with generating loot on stealth kills as it seems that disabling/killing a target that is unaware of your presence doesn't create a weapon on the body. In the case of the knife perhaps it should spawn as loot on the target attacked?

Does it appear in normal combat?

The most annoying thing for me is, that you lose the knife... also the damage is "lackluster", at least at the bginning without any upgrades. Makes the ability a little bid useless for stealth builds :(

I hope this can be fixed, I'm really excited to use this if the game ever launches for me.

There's already a thread on this if you're looking for other people who share the same sentiment: https://forums.cdprojektred.com/index.php?threads/dagger-dealer-knife-throw-cant-retrieve.11041859/

Flatline crash to desktop on launch is current day's hero "marauder shields" protecting me from this horror of losing legendary items, by not allowing me to play the game in the first place.

It's maybe because it's OP. You one shot almost everything with the knife even on the hardest setting.

I like fun.
legendary knife = fun.
one hit knife = fun.
my knife disappearing is not fun.
I hope I never encounter this glitch, even if my game ever works to begin with.

I understand how many people feel about it. The thing is, if you attack anybody (shoot, or melee) and it doesn't kill, everyone becomes alerted. If they nerf the knifes so they can be retrievable, they become useless for the stealth build. what they could do is increment the chance of you finding knifes on enemies... or make it a perk. knifes for me where a get outta jail card lots of times. My hacks were cooling down, a headshot wouldn't kill (by my calculations), about to be spotted: Last knife = ooof I'm saved. I like it as it is, but yes they should add cheaper knifes on vendors at the least.

In my opinion, throwable knives would be much more overpowered if they were an easily accessible stackable ressource like grenades, than if they worked the same as they do now, but required players to go pick up the knife. It adds an entire layer of difficulty to a stealth run if you have to think about retrieving your knife every time you throw it.

In fact, if "one-knife stealth run" was a speedrunning category, I'd totally watch it because it would be fascinating to see the choices people make when they can't rely on quasi-infinite gun ammo.

Throwing your own knife is totally silly, I think. Need some kind of throwing knives which can be bought in gun store as packages.

Oh... I've been playing a lot & only now, because of this post - I realize now that I have to throw an actual knife from my inventory. I believed that after unlocking the correct ability, I would have access to a possibly/near enough infinite; albeit pretty weak ammunition, of crappy throwing knifes (crafted or otherwise), for staggering enemies or something like that y'know... Suppose I was a fool to think it would be that simple.

Well if knifes were retrievable this would be Cyberknife 2077 LOL but I guess everyone has the right to play the game the way they want. In Morrowind I nuked the whole Island and crashed the game with a spell. 10/10

I took the perk and I think I managed to throw a knife accidentally once. Feels like a waste for me, but oh well.

Please fix this, how can I lose a knife after throwing it, and hitting an enemy with it? o_O
The perk is so useless until you carry a butcher shop full of knifes...

I didn’t mind that you lose knives after throwing. It’s little silly, sure, but I always just hoarded every knife I found and had plenty at all points.

Annoying thing is how you have to manually equip knife every time. It’s very clumsy and breaks the flow of the game.
It would be nice if it would automatically equip a new knife after throwing.
