Lasses and lads - time to dust off your joysticks and enter the fray. Just yesterday the Wing Commander Saga was released. Wing Commander Saga is an independent game made from renowned Freespece 2 OP engine. Because of the open-source nature of the code you don't need Freespace 2 installed - it's a full standalone product.

What's better it's absolutely FREE and completely legal!!

The guy who comments the second video suck, though. And if you don't have a joystick don't listen to his advice - the game is close to unplayable with gamepad (which you can see from how bad he is at aiming). Stick to the mouse (remember to enable it in options).

Does WC have multi? It would be cool to duel in space or even have larger battles...

How does it compare to WC3 (Heart of Tiger) or WC4 (Price of Freedom)?

After the awful Privateer 2 and WC-5, I dont want to be disapointed again.

^ It's just got released. I've beaten a few tutorial missions, so I really can't compare. So far everything looks decent. In theory this campaign runs in parallel to WC3 and it's composed of 55 separate missions. I say - give it a shot. After all, it's free, and it's not like we have too many space-sims these days.

A good point - I apologise if I may seem overly cynical about it.

But after pratically worshipping the ground Admiral Tolwyn (Malcom McDowell) walked on for his appearances in WC 3-4, and instantly falling in love with the Dragon Class fighter - WC5 was like waking up with a Grade A hangover after an all night binge of great beer and hot Gamer-girls.

(Tried once the Babylon 5 (Freespace 2 engine project) but can't remember why it didn't work. I had Freespace 2 then also, well...mutter mutter)
