Too much highroll

+
Ladder is full of binary/highroll and draw-dependant decks.
Sihil, Renfri, double scenario scoiatel, warrit combos, elves, golden nekker variants and so on. You lose the game since the beginning or you are doomed if they draw perfectly.
Is it possible to have fair games and winning with decent draws if you play better than your opponent? Is it possible to make combinations that aren't allowed to slam 40+ points in 2/3 cards? Am i asking too much? [...]

Yup.
But creators admitted several times, that they prefer it that way. Being "dynamic", and "surprising".
So we have Gwentstone now.

RNG is by far the worst aspect of Gwent and the randomized card draws are a perfect example of this. Tutors so that you will find your actual cards are the most boring cards you have to force into your deck in the deck builder if you want your deck to be competitive, and even then RNG might still screw you over not letting you find your cards. And that is not even the worst part, the worst is the bricks, the cards you actually do not want to draw, like having a mine field inside your deck, terrible concept if anything.

I get that games might turn out to be repetitive if we could choose every card we would draw, but I don't think at least making your mulligans not random is too much to ask.

We could also go into other RNG elements like create cards that can randomly win or lose you the game depending on if lady fortune smiles at you, or randomized pings. or the coin flip.

I've been thinking of making a thread on this myself for some time now, but it seems like such an obvious thing that shouldn't even need reminding of how bad it is.

Sure there is skill involved in the game, and there is room for improvement no matter who you are, but the ironic thing is that skill plays a lesser role the higher up on the ladder you get as both players are less prone to making mistakes so the RNG has an even bigger impact.

Bottom line is I enjoy the strategic thinking of Gwent, if I enjoyed gambling I would go to a casino. I really do hope the devs will adopt a new philosophy where RNG is viewed as something negative to them the same way it already is by many players.
