I can't wait for Wasteland 2... It's the closest to the gaming experience of the cancelled Fallout 3 that we'll ever get, probably.

From what i've seen, it has no dialogue. Just the ability to accept or deny a quest. Without a dialogue choice mechanic, it wouldn't evoke the Fallout feel at all imo.

Then you should take a better look. It has a keyword based dynamic dialogue system that changes what you say and are told depending on how you treat people, what you reveal to them and even the things you have seen and explored.

Edit: and no I didn't vote you down :p

I was thinking more of character development and combat. Lack of funny and witty dialogue lines for your character is of course sad... But since the actual FO3 does not have that either, the feel of wasteland 2 should still be the closest to FO3 "van Buren" ;)

Oh so the stronghold stretch goal's still viable, interesting.

Just got a mail from them saying they didn't reach the 4.5M target that would give a stronghold, but that they would open up for getting there. If they can get to 4.5M by 30th April, then it will be included. Since this will be via Paypal and they lacked a fair bit, I don't think it's too likely to happen, but it could be pretty cool if they did.

This is probably the game I look forward to the most, even more so than Eternity.

For me is the second game I look forward to the most, after eternity. P:E is also kind of spiritual successor to P:T, and Obsidian has made the best stories in the industry. InXile's team sounds great, but they are more of an unknown factor.

inXile unknown? You know who is involved in that company now right? And the writers in Tides of Numenera?

I know them. But they haven't prodused a good game yet.
Avellone and Ziets contributions will be fairly small.
Nathan Long and Rothfuss are good writters, but games and novels are diferent.
I expect the game to be great. As i said is my second most anticipated. But i feel more sure about P:E.
Plus, even though P:T is my favorite game, BG2 was more "fun" to play. If Obsidian manages to pull of Torment's narrative with BG2's encounter design and IWD's atmosphere and dungeons(like they promished in the pitch)it will be perfect. P:T and BG2 combination is the perfect game i can imagine.

That's true. PS:T is beautiful and deep, but as a computer game BG2 is immensely fun. That is why I can't choose a favorite among those two, but for some reason I keep coming back to play BG2 every once in a while.

I am slightly more hyped for Torment than PE simply because the premise and setting look more interesting. But you are right, the whole idea of PE was using PS:T's approach to dialogue and reactivity, BG's exploration and intensity, and IWD's tactical combat. Thanks for reminding me, now I am crazy for PE all over again.

Yeah it does sound pretty awesome! That's partly why it is enraging when people say games "like this" don't "push the genre forward" and complain how awful they look in "2D".

if you discover that the fallen priest has a phobia about multi-legged insects because his village was overrun by a murderous, carnivorous swarm, for instance, his reaction to your light-hearted prank of filling his boots with centipedes may very well be to attack you
