Tracking so many bugs...

I can't help sharing this reply from the support, after I took the time to fill in 4 bug reports (well yes, there are still quite a few of them).

"Hello,

could you send all your observations in one message, please?
Please do not send us separate messages. Gather all your thoughts and send them in one message.
We have other people's issues to solve too.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,
Marcin Kulikowski"

Not sure that's the proper way to address customers, especially when they bought a bugged product and took the trouble to report problems to help solving them.

Anyway, from my experience, it's not a good idea to put several bugs in one message, usually people will read one sentence then jump to some "you need to re-install your driver" response and forget about the next questions. Maybe here it's different but in this case they'd better give proper instruction on the bug report page (which is not accessible from all links, to start with).

Maybe some visibility with the reported bugs would help, but I saw no tracking tool.

Thanks for the (mildly annoyed) update, Red.

It is good to know that they like swarms of reports. I'll add this to the Tech SUpport thread.

We've talked about a Known Issues thread, but they are coming in thick and fast post-release. We'll see what we can do, but until then, please keep the reports coming!

Even if you get a somewhat curt or harried message from CDPR. They do appreciate the work, they're just..overrun right now.

a thread for all known issues would be very very good! without its impossible to know what CDPR is working on and when they dont communicate the forums just blow up about the same issues lol

I could imagine seeing all the issues a person is experiencing in bullet point form would also give the bug hunters some metrics on what needs to be targeted as a priority.

Not to say that all bugs aren't there to be squished, but if something is turning up on everybody's list, then it'd probably be easier for it to be responded to.

That said, the only bug that's hitting me at the moment is the one regarding aberrant special status effects from weapons.
Low percentage chances of an effect are triggering 100% of the time.
This occurs after you apply a rune to the weapon.

Currently, it's fixable by either dying, exiting and reloading (have not checked if just reloading works yet), so that in itself is probably a low priority given a relatively easy fix is at hand should we get hit by it.

Agreed.

A checklist of known bugs and bugs squashed could be helpful in the near future.

Did you receive this answer from support today? I mean post 1.05? That would be good news, as it would mean that they indeed are working through the weekend, and possible patching stuff, Or at the least that they are aware of the numerous shortcomings of 1.05

"We have other people's issues to solve too."

LOL. And if you face one bug today, another bug tomorrow? Maybe play for a year and only then do a bug report?

By the way, check my 9(!) bugs found TODAY - http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/46656-FRUSTRATING-BUG-Alchemy-Crafting-Glyphs-Runestones-(Patch-1-05)?p=1757640.

Care to provide the bug report link?

CDPR needs a guy on their side to own posting a list of known bugs on the forums, and keeping the list updated with the bug's status internally. This helps everyone. No idea why they have not done that. It should not be that much effort as they have to already be tracking them internally...right?

I believe they do and some CDPR staffs do read this forum to find out all sorts of things such as player feedback/suggestions, bug reporting, albeit, they don't post the known bugs they have acknowledged in the forum. Would be nice if they do though to provide more transparency and interactiveness with their player base.

Knowing what's in the pipeline to being fixed would definitely help us not keep sending in duplicate bug reports.

What would be best is if they had a bug tracker (like trac, bugzilla, maybe even jira) that the public can access and search for previously submitted bugs and +1 them if needed. Can even submit more technical data about each system and help identify solution faster. How it's done in the open source community essentially.

The real question is why are they having to do that in the first place.

I kinda feel sorry for CDPR staff at the moment. Because when you think about how long it can take even an entire team of debuggers to track down the cause of and fix even one single bug, and they are literally receiving hundreds and hundreds of bug reports at the moment. It makes you realize that it's actually a small miracle that they have managed to address as many bugs as they have so far, and have been able to push out 3 patches in about 3 weeks. That's a patch nearly every 7 days. That's actually extremely good, when you consider how long it takes other devs to fix bugs.

I wouldn't be surprised if CDPR staff are working flat out at the moment in order to keep up with the shear volume of issues being reported by people. Unfortunately though it does seem like they are starting to be overwhelmed. Hopefully they will be able to get things stable.

No.

The time for being understanding is past

[Sard Edit] Oh no, not on THESE forums it's not!

You are free to complain and be upset. Politely.

If you don't even make an attempt to understand others' positions and stick to your own upset, you'll get edited, like this and eventually in trouble.

This is not a Complaint Department. There is a link in my Sig for that and Bug Reports. Use it!

Don't turn our forums into your own unhappy poopfest, regardless of how justified you feel.

In short: try for understanding. Try hard. Why? Because the alternative turns my forums into a not very nice place and I don't like that. Have a Pony Shaped Reminder.]

I am not a poopy complainer. Last time I checked, I am a [ ANOTHER Sard Edit:"disputing moderation" customer!]
