Transforming Gwent’s Arena mode into a new Draft mode

+
thanks for keeping arena

I do think new draft mode needs cost and rewards or it will be just another seasonal which I almost never plays. I am somewhat newish player. Now in my 4th season only and I play arena since the beginning and I find it fun even I never win more than 6 matches.

Hello for me personally as a player who is focusing strictly on limited format i have to say that in longterm current arena is not very fun. On the other hand i definitely think that it has to have entry fee in terms of ore and some rewards otherwise its not going to be interesting for most of the players in my opinion, also introducing provision cost somehow into limited would be a lot more interesting. I was trying runeterra and it has almost the same format as you are planning to do in the new draft mode. But i have to say for me it was one ofthe worst limited gamemode from all card games i tried, with the option of picking 3 cards that synergies with each other the decks were very repetetive and sometimes they were even stronger than constructed decks and this surely shouldnt happen in limited format. As much as i am fun of your decision to change arena i dont think copying runeterra limited format is the best idea at all. Probably this opinion is going to take a lot of hate but for me personally limited format in artifact1 was the most fun limited format i have ever played

This all sounds great and clearly a lot of thought has gone into this new mode. I look forward to beta-testing it!

I had a thought based on some of the early feedback here. What if the reward system was opt-in? Paying a cost up front(not unlike laying down an ante) - say 200 ore - enables tiered rewards based on your number of wins. This way casual players can still enjoy the mode without consequence, experimenting with cards they haven't yet collected. Meanwhile, more experienced players will see their skill rewarded.

I hope there are some cosmetics in store for this mode. I would appreciate having a small trinket to commemorate the times I get significantly further into a "run".
Yeah. I’ve always wanted to see a multiplayer game allow players to bet in-game currency on the outcome of a match. The lack of buy-ins and rewards was the main thing in the article I wasn’t in favor of or indifferent to and I really hope they make some sort of meaningful reward/progression system.

Interesting, that you want to decrease time when players pick cards. It may be just me, but building the deck was always my most fav part of the Arena. Playing varied, but the deckbuilding was nuts
I totally agree. I really have fun picking my cards. I've even broken the contract before playing at all if the deck is pure trash. I do understand the need to streamline the process and enable more synergy, but I was a little disappointed reading that. I was thinking that they would cut down on getting terrible card combos by allowing you to pick 2 or 3 factions, or maybe eliminating one from the selection - something along those lines. But I'm sure this will be fun, and I think more importantly, this mode will get better over time as expansions add to the card library, whereas the current version generally gets worse. Now I just have to have patience waiting for this mode to come out...

Please don't touch current arena. Make a draft or whatever you want there for beginners, but leave the arena for connoisseurs of the game.

No cost and rewards = no fun. Just reroll deck for free 100 times until you get an unbeatable deck. It will be 2nd silly seasonal mode noone wants to play.

There are no problems with rewards in the game at all, what kind of disorder for newcomers r u talking about? There are a bunch of other modes for beginners, leave arena for arena fans.

Please stop trying to simplify and prune down mechanics. Deckbuilding as fun as playing game, dont ruin it to please casual players who plays 10 mins with phones from toilets. Appreciate loyal players who likes to compete

Is there not ?
From what I understood the Blue Stripes Package (as an example) CAN get Roche: Merciless, but is not guaranteed.

The same was true before, there were cads you would always take and an early Shupe and Radeyah were among them.

I mean deviations from "the" package. There's a bunch of cards, for instance, that do pretty much the same thing. It could make "harmony1" to "harmony5", for one.

And yes, I guess that's true.

When comparing Arena (current version), It is more like Unsealed Deck tournaments for Magic the Gathering back in the days when you pay to play the tournament (visiting card shops) and you have a chance to win prizes. The competition felt fun and fresh giving people somewhat "equal" footing. (equal in the sense that they have the same chance of bad luck or good luck as you do, but skill plays a factor in working with what you have.) Arena to me is more competitive than the current pro rank because the reward is more 'accessible' and less time commitment. Winning Pro Rank to go to finals for prize pool has a lot of commitment with very low reward for not being in the top bracket (meaning if you don't make it to the tournaments you get nothing but 25 reward points for the season) Arena gives new players a chance to actually get legendary cards and ore that ends up being used for tickets again and again.

In MTG Arena, they have this arena format where you pay for entry and your reward is based on how well you do.

Draft mode doesn't present the same entry fee or reward based on how well you do. This makes it nothing more than a glorified variations of Seasonal Modes. It's an alternate way of playing but no real reward.

Maybe Arena Mode can be a seasonal event once very 2 months ? Or a Weekend Event.

Honestly I think the issue some have with the entry fee could be resolved by giving the option to pay a fee for upsides or not paying a fee, not getting the same highroll option if not paying the fee (by highroll option I refer to rewards based on the number of wins and loses at the end of the run).

Totally agree , for me as well this was the most fun part picking card by card trying hard to build my Draft ( well Arena ) deck . This is a Draft format it must be RNG , it is more creative and interesting to try to accomplish something with the deck you manage to Draft ( when you want to play synergy decks you have constructed ) , so please re-consider this during the beta ..

Also a Free Draft is a great idea ( especially for new players ) but you need to have an option for an entry fee with Ore like Arena . Most of the players at some point will want to have their time spend rewarded besides the fun factor .

I think they should keep arena.
I am a relatively new player and because i dont really like the current meta,
Arena is the only mode i play.
Also if you are relatively decent, you can get great value out of it. Which might be the problem, as i feel like the devs make it progressively harder to get keys, which equal new cards.
The new mode doesnt sound appealing to me which means i will probably stop playing gwent because the other modes are not really fun for me ( at least right now).
And also they feel pointless. Beeing in the top 7 kinda makes sense for the 15 keys.
Pro i think is not worth the effort. So for me there is not much insentive to play the other modes as you cant really earn anything just like the new Draft mode and unlike Arena :(

I am a new player and i honestly would be disappointed if the cost of the ticket and the rewards for arena went away. I have talked with some players that have been playing longer and the biggest thing they didnt understand was how the arena payout worked , they didnt realize they were guaranteed 1 keg even if they lost all the rounds which is why they felt it was a waste of ore. The other issue is some players dont know when to pass or forfeit to save time when the round or match just isnt going well to save everyone time and effort. I think creating a casual arena setting will be nice but then the competative arena scene will completely disappear which is not a good thing! I really think there should be a casual draft mode that maybe helps you choose cards and give you tips on how to play along the way to boost morale! Keep the old Arena ticket and reward system going but include a win and reward table in the ticketed area to help people understand what they are actually paying for! They can always do a casual Arena run to learn and practice! Learning is fun and i love the excitement of the potential pay off in Arena even though im not the best.

Bother, I liked the Arena precisely because of the risk of getting utterly rubbish cards.

Back when I was a noob it was also a super cool way to play cards I didn't have yet and didn't even know existed- but I did love the unpredictability. Occasionally having to choose between three faction-specific leader abilities was frustrating but ultimately a great way to make you think on your feet- fantastic practice for getting out of a bind in a classic game where your mulligans are crap or you've made a mistake that sets you back.

I'll get used to it like I get used to everything but I hope you bring back the old Arena mode every now and then on special occasions.

As a person who plays Arena more than ranked, I am going to hope that this does not decrease the variability of the deck construction. I would not enjoy arena if it actually had a meta, like everyone running knickers or roach.

That said, I realize upgrades need to be made, as it is currently hell to attempt playing with 30 - 40% of available cards. Obtaining many of the arena contracts is nigh impossible as well.

Still, there is nothing wrong with the pay to play for rewards system at the moment ASIDE from the fact you can immediately break the contract. I play with all my decks, even the ones where I only pull 7 or 8 golds.

Also, I am sad that the seasonal arena modes have been basically eliminated, because many of those events were fun.
