Traps and experience points

In Witcher 2 I got to face endrega queen pretty early and that beast would make easy job of me. After a couple of "hit the dust/reload" cases I decided to use traps to deal with it. It was easy and obvious choice since one of the nests is located in narrow passage and it is perfect location for the ambush. So, I collected some 15 snares from around area and booby-trapped the passage. Destroyed the nest and ran, hearing the sounds of the creature running after me. And then I looked back. As it stepped over the trapped area and died. But then I understood that it would not give me no experience points. Quite dissapointing. So,reloaded and removed several flares to finish it off with the blade. Still... Geralt is supposed to prepare before difficult battles. Trapping is preparing. Imho, killing by traps should give some experience points. Trapping IS hunting, we as species DO use traps since the beginning of history. So, this is my wish. That in W3 traps would give experience points. Thanks people.

I never had the frustration of this using traps, but in my personal opinion you can have a discussion with the elf that stands on the rafters outside of town and you discuss traps with him, he claims "Traps are used to weaken an animal then come in for the kill." (That's what he somewhat said.) So, just reading that, wouldn't you think traps are used to weaken the beast to 90%-99% then Geralt coming in for the killing blow?

I have discovered that I am getting no XP for many of my kills, e.g. drowners. In W1, I at least got a single XP for them. I would suppose that XP rewards go down with level such as they did in W1, except that they seem to go to 0 instead of 1. Perhaps TP had too high a level to get XP for the queen?

XP for kills goes to zero very quickly. By the time you can kill Endregas safely, they're down to 3-6 points, and before the end of Act I, Endregas will give you no XP at all. Similar for Nekkers and Drowners.

In general, this game does not reward grinding. About the only monsters you can grind effectively are in Act II: Rotfiends for XP up to level 20 or so, and Harpies for body parts to sell.
