Traps next unit mechanic

I find it weird that 2 similar damaging traps can be triggered by the same unit.

For example PITFALL and INCINERATING traps can be triggered by the same one stupid unit. I'm imagining a poor soldier that first falls into a PITFALL TRAP, at which point it should be dead, but somehow he survives and gets out, only to step onto and trigger a INCINERATING TRAP. Riiiiight! It makes zero sense.

And while this keeps happening, IORVETH'S GAMBIT, a high provision cost card, is quasi-useless.
